Still thinking about creating my rp I want to create.
Essentially the only problems I have is making a good enough interesting plot on why everyone is pulled into a game and why they are changed into their avatar they have created. Also the other problem is I am not really great at running a rp. I like creating them, but running them is a different story, trying to keep the plot going, and making alterative plots.
Why not just call it commercial virtual reality gone wrong? It's a solid go to excuse that doesn't require a lot of complicated explanation. This explanation also provides is a lot of handwaves later if you were to include a player menu (ie. you could explain and integrate things like maps, friends lists or quests in character that would normally only be able to be discussed in ooc).
In regards to the plot, I suppose this would depend on your interpretation of rpgs. Are the characters trapped in another world, or provided a second chance at life? (ie. is the goal to complete the final quest and escape, or save/destroy the world?)
Your threads in the past were of reasonable quality (unlike a certain someone *cough*). You have no reason to start doubting yourself now.

Well, The whole Virtual reality gone wrong sounds a bit too much like SAO but at the same time it isn't a bad idea. Also you just brought up another thing should the people who get dragged into the game get the 'game' features you find in a game like Hitpoints, mana, inventories stats and what not.
Also the sudden transformations would be better if it wasn't Virtual reality, like all the sudden you are sitting in a game chair the next you are in a fantasy world no longer yourself.
Or would it be just being dropped into a world you have no idea what is going on or why you suddenly changed. It would add a more Survival type feel.
Also I am thinking being Trapped in a different world. It could have a second life like feel, at the same time with the original idea of trying to get back to your lives before being sucked into the video game.
I did say the virtual reality went wrong - who says it's just a game any more! Play your cards right and you could be hosting lost 2.0, and take up the pen-name J.J. Guthix!
In terms of RPG features, I think things like levels, skills and menu's would be a good addition - though should probably be treated as powers and left as a conversational topic and community project, ie. Kirito's "duelwielding" skill, which has practically nothing explained on-screen besides the fact that it looks badass and apparently works irl.
In my experience, a lot of RPG story stories generally follow one of three themes:
~ The heroes find themselves trapped in the game, and must complete the final quest/floor to escape. Expect the guy to get the girl, and for death to be real.
~ The heroes find themselves trapped in the game - though since their old life sucked anyway, why bother trying to go back? Expect the girl to find her prince charming, and the guy to find the modestly badass low-born girl.
~ The heroes are normal players and maybe irl friends who log on and play with others whenever they can, though the characters meet some sketchy people in-game and become involved in irl strife. (conveniently, EVERYONE IMPORTANT TO THE PLOT LIVES ONE TRAINRIDE AWAY.)
And, in several cases...
~ You're a likeable NEET who appears in a strange world, immediately hated by everyone for reasons outside of your control. Expect everything to go wrong for you, and though things may eventually go right with hard work, the characters in this story constantly struggle with suppressing their inner dark side.
From what I can tell, you're aiming for somewhere between #1 and #2. Would I be correct in that assumption?

Hello everyone, Almost done writing the introduction to my next rp
Here is just a bit of it
Introduction
Picking up a new game you go and put it in your game system or pc. You up load the game and the first bit of loading bar pops up in a bit of no time at all it loads up. You get a message
Welcome to DragonFall,
A great adventure awaits you in the journey through dragonfall. A land is mythic lores, fantasies and magic. A world of dragons, demons, dwarves elves and all sorts of creatures that call this world home. You will set forth in the most realistic massive roleplaying game you will play. You control your own destiny, and the destiny of Dragonfall itself. Be warned, this game goes get a bit graphic, and will suck you right into the adventure itself. After you create your character your adventure will begin.
Next appears a character creation stuff,
Name
Age
race
Gender
Appearance
Abilities
Weapons
Armor/Clothing
-
Once you filled all this out you have see to buttons one button blue and the other red, the blue button says you wish to back out, the red button says Begin adventure.
If you had clicked the blue button nothing happened, but if you clicked the red button the screen starts shining a very bright light that seems to surround you and you alone. You end up passing out for a few minutes when you come to, you are sitting in a different area, maybe a tavern, might be a forest, but you all begin in the same world.
Dragonfall
You have for some reason changed into your avatar as you now are in the game. With no explanation on what is going on or what is happening you are now in a new world. What will happen how will you react? This is where the adventure begins.
