No.

It doesn't matter how much they try to kill you as long as you kill more of them because then you win. What does it matter when it isn't your life that's being thrown away?

It could be though. Maybe you lost so badly that your enemies are steadily gaining ground, showing no mercy and refusing any offers of peace. So that by the time the war ends, your only options are either death or imprisonment, because they have taken your city and are literally standing in your room pointing guns at you and demanding your surrender.

And even if you do make it out of the war without being captured or imprisoned, but your country has suffered a serious blow, you still have to deal with the fact that your country's history will remember you as the guy who screwed his country up by entering a fight they couldn't win, making their soldiers die for nothing.

While it would be ideal to simply not lose, war is unpredictable and some fights are just unwinnable.

The way I see it, this is not a solution with a happy ending. As I have just clarified now, giving the planets to the Ikrians would be appeasement- something that does not work when you have a fascist state. If anything it only emboldens a dictator to try and get away with as much as he can. The Humans never really wanted these planets they were too far away from the other human colonies, but they tried to help the Slorians and the Ikrians to come to some settlement. In the end, it was the Slorians who really messed things up for both the Slorians, and the Humans, because they got greedy and took 11 of the best worlds while the Ikrians got six of the worst worlds, but when the Ikrians complained about this to the humans, the Humans told them that democracy does not always have the best resolution. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy! =)

Y'know, I just had an interesting thread idea. I probably won't actually make it, but I thought it was worth putting out there in case anyone actually does:

It's kind of like a Western-meets-zombie-apocalypse. Basically, the apocalypse has come and gone in the modern age, destroying most of humanity. Fortunately, a few people are able to survive and form settlements along the eastern coast, who then band together to start a new country.

Now it is several decades after the first zombie apocalypse began. At this point all original zombies have completely rotted away, and the only zombies you see are the recently deceased (I'm thinking it can be like the Walking Dead where everyone carries it, and only becomes one upon death.) This new country has begun to send settlers westward to claim more land, forming new settlements either in or on the outskirts of old towns and cities.

Keeping order in these new towns eventually becomes difficult, as armies and police are spread thin with the bulk being kept in the original cities. Since unexpected deaths to lead to small outbreaks and the people can't turn to the police, guns are made widely available for the general populace. Motorized vehicles are reserved for transporting soldiers and essential goods, so if the everyday person wishes to get around they must do so on horseback.

The only part I'm struggling with is the plot, and that has always been the problem for me. So I'm leaving this idea for someone else to take on. Or maybe be a co-creator of a thread with me?

Because you took Annie's bio and copy/pasted 90% of what is there. That tells me you put no effort at all into it and that you don't care. There's other things wrong too but I'm not going to bother saying what they are because it doesn't matter at this juncture. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Did their scouts find a city of lights and a great wall spanning the Colorado river?

I think it has a nice premise, depending on how thoroughly you thrashed humanity's population and mankinds ability to maintain modern technology 'cause every post apocalyptic story needs a PGM Hecate II . Would the surviving government of this thread be similar to the NCR or the later Walking Dead comics, and is there anybody else out there (and, more importantly, are they in a better position than we are)?
