It's not the first time I've seen elf-human hybrids promoted as a sort of superior race. For example, just look at The Elder Scrolls Bretons - they have more magic than humans, but none of the physical frailties of elves.

And yet Nords and Redguards are physically superior to Bretons, while Elves are magically superior to them. It's your "jack of all trades but master of none" deal.
