O_o I think I now understand why characters don't have pre-roleplay interactions. Writing this post kinda feels like godmodding.

It's generally something that has to be discussed beforehand, I believe (unless you're very vague about it or somehow have a perfect grasp of the other character's personality without even talking with the roleplayer.) That way a character can't be all like: "Hey, remember that one time when you..."

Only for the person controlling the other character to go: "Actually, my character would never do that. Completely out-of-character. Edit your post, please."

An adventurer from a foreign land on a mission to create a wealth of his own apart from his own family's fortune in his homeland. Barely being in the country a few months he's managed to accidentally find himself in a considerable amount of fame which has gotten him quite far along the way to glory.

Anyways, I'd like to introduce this character in the Heroes of Greenhaven or whatever roleplay in a non-bio format. With what I've said and the details to follow would this be acceptable and if so where would he best fit?

He'd be a Mage type capable of absorbing magic and reforging it to his wishes. He hasn't quite figured out how to do this other than creating minor elements and healing himself to a degree.
He has a considerable amount of fame from slaying a creature by mistake.
He's from an incredibly wealthy family he's all but left behind back in another country.
He's a drunk.

How best to intro him? Well...

There have been rumours of a beast killing livestock in Daralt, a village east of the city. Venom's character, Andrew Basset, is on his way to learn more. Meanwhile the Knights of Greenhaven are also on the way, although for a separate reason - to hunt down some bandits.

My recommendations:

Your character has also heard the rumours of this beast, and is on their way to Daralt as well. Venom's character has come across an injured woman, so a good introductory point would be to have your character come across them on the road as well.

My questions:

You say he can absorb magic. Is there a limit and can magic still harm him? What happens if he absorbs too much magic? There has to be some drawback aside from limited knowledge of it, otherwise all forms of magic will be completely obsolete against him.

Oh, and what happens if he absorbs dark magic, like necromamtic or demonic?

The way I'd like to see his ability worked up is that he can absorb any type of magic and rework it to create his own type. So yes, he can absorb necronmatic or demonic energy and be capable of reworking it to his wishes.

Also, yes, I plan on having drawbacks such as a limit to how much magic he can absorb although a considerable amount he still has a limit. Not to mention he's completely vulnerable to physical attacks.

I also haven't adamantly decided on this power of not. Maybe something else along the lines of soul forging or curruption, two other ideas I've been working up.

Soul forging; simply being the ability to consume and use the life essence of to fuel his creationism ability allowing him to create practically anything to a degree.

Curruption; A more physical magic that also has the ability to pursuade others to his bidding.

Both, probably forbidden magics.

Thoughts? I'm also open to any ideas or changes you might want to offer.
