Fun Fact: One of the main characters, Switch, was actually intended to be nonbinary, so "there's not a single trans character in the trilogy" might be better characterized as "the Wachowski Sisters were forced to keep the trans allegory to just that, allegory and implication".

Anyways, if we don't allow diverse writers to try to tell diverse stories now, we might never get that all-queer Disney you're hoping for in the distant future, Azi. Things don't get better naturally—it requires fighting, and mistakes, and improvement. I don't think segregating media is a healthy way to avoid problematic representation. I'd rather see a wide array of artists from all walks of life trying to understand and empathize with people who are different from them. I don't know how else I can say "banning nonbinary characters from existing in 99.5% of media currently being made isn't going to do what you think it will".

From my understanding, Switch was meant to be a MtF genderbender (male irl, female in the matrix - hence the name "switch&quot ;) , but this concept got cut, so they just used the female actor who they claim was more "gender nonbinary".

It's an interesting concept, though they wouldn't have time to explore it since switch dies so early.

Who forced them to keep Switch non-nonbinary? That really sucks to hear, it would have been a phenomenal theme for its time. Also, who is Switch? I don’t remember which character it is.

All good points for sure, especially diverse casting my diverse artists, I never thought of that, but yes, if the artist is allowed to make art even though oneself isn’t part of the created art, it still allows them to emphasize or live lives they never could, I’ll have to remember that for sure. Indeed, it’ll take a long time to get an all-queer Disney, maybe a lifetime or two, but it’d be quite the monumentally impressive quest. I think I understand you now, actually--if we lock nonbinary/LGBQT+ artists to stick to their own subculture, it kinda does limit them regardless of good intentions and grandeur of ‘what if.’ Thanks for your patience and corrections, I’ll have to focus more next time.

Switch was one of the bodyguards on the Zion ship in the first movie. She is one of two that dies when Cypher betrays the crew pulls out their connection to the matrix.

So, basically, cannon fodder.

Considering she only really appears in-between shots, it's not surprising you don't remember her.

Oh, the lady with bright blonde hair, right? Yeah, she had like no impact in the film, indeed fodder, unfortunately. I hate it when movies do that.

I probably won't make a new RP. You may recall a couple weeks ago I had plans for a Western-like RP with some magic themes, as I stumbled upon more than enough Imgur images to depict the basics of what I want, but I don't think anyone was interested.

I had other ideas, of course:

Conventional vampires vs werewolves in a late-medieval Transylvania, the war between Vlad and the Ottomans, blending history with fantasy themes but also with specific storylines that pitch users against the plotline amidst randomly-chosen NPCs and surprising guest appearances. Takes place sometime after Vlad was pursued by Ottoman hashashim and Transylvanian nobles who betrayed him, someone beheading him, resulting in the Ottoman conquering of the region but Vlad comes back as Dracula amidst the ensuing chaos of lycanthropic tribes raiding Ottoman caravans, vampire counts/elders trying to take power and not necessarily loyal to Vlad, Ottomans trying to maintain control of the region, and the civilians trying to stay alive.

Alternatively, it can be a vampires vs werewolves RP that is steampunk/Western, mostly based on original concepts. Set in the Old West and including Wendigos and Native braves. Less constricted storyline and broader adventure.

I have a few cool Imgur images that could make a vampires vs werewolves but in a cyberpunk universe, something between Underworld and Cyberpunk 2077 but mixed with some original concepts as usual. Instead of having a storyline, this RP would be developed on the go, expanding as we roleplay amidst a strange world pitching the supernatural against AIs.

No other ideas floating around, I've rather run out of them, tho I am open to suggestions and discussion.


I currently have no time to post in Omega due to work, but I finish my rotation in a couple days!

I had a character concept that would probably fit an post-apocolyptic western. Something about a person who can remember their past life, and due to circumstances, is forced to act on those memories to survive from a young age. It sounds silly, but the concept has me mulling over whether such a person is basically the same as before they were reborn, or a new person entirely.

Problem is, I don't post nearly as often as others when this place is active. Not a lot of free time, y'know?
