Alright, thanks. That basically clarifies a lot of stuff and how everything fits in.
I figured the Empress's assassination had something to do with causing chaos, I just wasn't sure if there wasn't a more ritualistic thing involved (ie. This spell requires the blood of royalty)
Just one final question. Who are the Venatori? I haven't paid much attention whenever that subject came up - all the lore this game throws at you in general conversation is pretty overwhelming. Is that term used to describe Cor**heus's cult, or are they just another Tevinter political group? I'm assuming it's the first one. Dorian really seems to dislike them, considering I just completed a quest that required me to hunt them down and kill them with him being present.
Also, what's the big deal with Dorian? I haven't really found him that funny. He's all just "Ho ho ho I'm very handsome and awesome." So far his banter with the other party members has consisted almost entirely of "Sera, why do you hate magic?" and "Iron Bull, why do you enjoy slaughtering my countrymen?" And in all of those conversations it had either been Sera or Iron Bull who had the funny line.
I recall someone saying he was the best mage, but you get to pick what trees they go down (I made Dorian mostly Spirit, dipping into Fire for some DPS and Necromancy for some of the more useful-sounding Passive and Active Abilities), so their skill depends on how you build them, doesn't it?
Actually I may have shot myself in the foot by building all my mages so similarly. They all rely heavily on Spirit simply because I couldn't turn down that awesome resurrection spells or the sweet barriers.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
