Hm, seems like you have pretty high standards compared to the usual RPing, then, eh? My opinion on RolePlayGateway is overall negative, as all users either lied or buggered off without saying anything. Their writing style was also confusing, with one user somewhat passively criticize-complaining if I was even read his posts. I told him I couldn’t understand his writing. There was just an obvious lack of syntax and cohesion.

One user resorted to just a few lines of vague dialogue, under the expectation I knew he was depicting a crashing zeppelin. He later used the same excuse ‘I have a headache’ multiple times. The last user said he would post after the previous did.

Overall, I think the gist of RPing with the usual RPer, is that they expect the game master to create grand and epic villains and worlds, for the typical RPer to be carried through and be the hero who didn't have to do anything.

As for this cringe stuff, well, I certainly won’t be attacking other artists. They are definitely more successful than me or my ideas, so why should I criticize them? After all, it’s really about what they want, not what the game master would like to create.

Anyways, I will try to finish Impurity tonight or so, I hope.

Isn't that what roleplaying is though? A GM setting up a world for the players to screw around in, and for the players to defy the GM's expectations to make the plot interesting?

EDIT: Looked up some roleplaying communities, found a Fortnite roleplay. That right there is enough cringe to open up a black hole and swallow the entire universe into the cringe dimension.

RoleplayerGuild is a thing. It's actually very similar to how this place used to be in the past.

Though the main difference is that they segregate roleplayers based on skill level. There's Free (which is where you'd find threads like Alpha Base), there's Casual (which is where the people who only bother with one or two paragraphs a post hang out), and there's Advanced, which is where people like Inferi and George would feel at home. Whether or not this is a good thing or a bad thing depends on your opinion.

Oh, and also, fewer rules.

I only really hang around the Advanced section, and while there are a lot of fanfic-style roleplays, I haven't seen anything overly cringey just yet. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

Defying the GM’s expectations is actually what I like and would like to expect, but I sure don’t want to type a novella for someone who doesn’t put effort in the world. I am tired of babysitting, and don’t have the time, energy or patience to make novellas for people who don’t care about my effort.

Speaking of which, I think the solution to this is less energy spent on the world?



Speaking of rules, my RPs tend to have few rules, too. I usually don’t care if users powerplay, so long as it’s appropriate in relation to their character’s abilities.

I meant in regards to what sort of content you can and can't post. Oh, content-wise, I see. As we all know, I have a preference for action, violence, and adventure.

Hm, will need a few more days to finish the RP. It's almost done.

No, what I meant was this place used to have some really strict rules - if it took place in a historical setting, or in the universe of an established franchise, it was to be removed. Roleplayer Guild does not have those restrictions. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
