Well, that's awkward...

Oh, and Gun, I forgot to ask, but in your writing, what projects did you work on? Which tense do you like most? What are the best things you've experienced in your writing? I hope I'm not being nosy, but I just like talking about novels, especially with people who work on them.

Well, I published a novel as an e-book in 2012. Had worked on it for about a year. Looking back, it definitely wasn't my best work but I suppose it can hold its own to an extent. I've sold somewhere between 1200-1500 copies of it. Between then and now I started 3-4 other projects that were going to be novels, but tended to get caught up in work at different intervals. I've had 4 or 5 jobs since then, so things were pretty busy. Aside from that I also had a long-running roleplay with three other people on Google Docs which I can honestly say contained some of my best writing thus far. I was also co-author of a collection of vignettes, short stories and sort of 'beat' poetry with a good friend of mine, however we ultimately never ended up publishing the collection. Briefly I considered releasing my own works of the collection under a pseudonym, as many of the stories and poems contained are quite personal and pretty gritty/dark and what-not. If people in my day-to-day life read any of that, they'd be shocked and there's quite a few not-so-savory elements of my past displayed that could potentially cause issues. I didn't end up publishing it, then.

Aside from that I really haven't written much of note. I don't regularly publish anything for public consumption, so most of my work just sits on my hard disk and gathers dust.

I do suppose that for an unknown in the novel industry, over a thousand copies sold at 1.99 a piece is not too bad. Especially being that my preferred genre is pretty niche. Westerns aren't as popular as they used to be, and it was of a decent length. I shopped it around to several publishing houses but most of them didn't want to take a chance and publish 110,000 words from a nobody writer. A few of the publishing agents did say they saw a future for me in the business but I needed a little bit of learning, a conclusion I definitely agree with when I look back on it.

The novel wasn't meant to be stand-alone, but the first book in a series. I do plan to write more. The main character was actually created on this very forum in one of my western roleplays and I basically decided to make him the protagonist of his own series.

Well done on sales, Gun, impressive. I have well over a dozen different projects, and none of them get anywhere in Wattpad, regardless of the amount of time and effort I put into them. Yeah, RPing is quite fun, but I am still learning role-play. Peculiar, I also had plans to co-author with my best friend, but we’ve yet to get there. Gory, disturbing content is what I am really good at, even though I am sensitive to it. I like dark themes, especially when they also have horror and dystopian features.

Eh, all my stuff sits in websites and no one cares.

Indeed, I think you did excellently. I am surprised most publishers did not want to go for a 110,000 word story. I have three fanfics at around a hundred thousand words long, and they’re about halfway done only. I’ll really have to reconsider how long I make my stories. Oh yes, there’s also marketing, sales, and advertisement involved. Almost all success is business, so if someone wants to be a successful artist, they must also know business.

Ha! Curious character. I also get ideas from role-plays to use in my original works.

I started working on a novel recently. However, unlike all my other stories, this novel is an attempt to be professional. It sticks to present tense in narration, and does not go overboard in anything. Since I have no success anywhere in websites, maybe I can try a shot at publishing a novel, see what happens, why not?

Standing by. Waiting for West to post, unless he is also Standing by...

I can't say which Perk is better, as they are so different. One is weaponized, the other is a passive ability. Whichever is better depends on what kind of character you wish to play as, or what Perk you wish to choose.
