But Biotics don't exist in APTtS!
Anyways, last night, I started playing Alice Madness Returns, after figuring out how to activate the damn game from Steam. The game is quite gritty despite its cartoony appearance, and is actually rather cool. I felt the cartooniness was overdone, it kinda killed some of the darker themes of the game, but oh well, it's meant to be the way it is. Alice reminded me of Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite.
It was kinda mean when the kid teased-commented about Alice killing her parents, making me speculate that she in fact set her house on fire and burned her family to death on purpose. Therapy to make someone forget about such a past makes sense. Indeed, sometimes, simply forgetting about tragedy or evil is the best thing to do, especially for children.
I think the game is meant to express child abuse, and how children want to escape into a fantasy world. When Alice is basically surrounded by bug-headed men, I think this is her trying to forget she was gang raped as a child while wandering the streets chasing after a cat.
Using a peppergrinder-gun made me chuckle, I did not expect that. A kitchen knife that looks like a pattern-welded blade was cool, but I think a sword would have been cooler. The game plays a bit like Super Mario, it even has a slide, and really looks like a children's game, yet is for adults. It'll be quite an experience! Currently playing on Hard difficulty, we'll see how far I can go.
Oh, and I take it I don't need to post in APTtS? Seeing as neither Ridley nor Ben can really do anything right now, seeing as they don't have the helmet, and have to be quiet.
