If the halo franchise has taught me anything, you don't actually have to play, be very good at or even enjoy the game to write a novel about a cashcow franchise.

I once found this book in a local library that follows the events of the first Halo game (published 2 years after the games release). In this novel, the Master Chief finds a shotgun. Only, said shotgun only exists on easy difficulty. What this implies isn't exactly up in the air. ;)

If you need further evidence to support that hypothesis, just look at any fan-fiction website. 90% of the time, whatever it is, it's not even slightly faithful to the source material. I do admit to taking perhaps a little too much inspiration from certain TV shows and games for my writing, but taking all of somebody else's source material and proceeding to write things uncharacteristic of said source material is a pretty awful behavior.

I'm coming up with a roleplay because I apparently haven't got enough of my dose of being awesome is a fictional world lately, and I'm running a quick question by the lot of you who may or may not be interested. In regards to the powers player characters will have.

They're going to be pre-generated regardless since I've got a basic theme, the only real question is this - would you rather be able to pick between the power choices knowing fully what they are, or would you rather choose a number and not know what you'll get until gametime?

I suggest you flip a coin to decide whether or not it should be random. There are very strong arguments for either side, and a coin toss is the only way to remedy the issue.

But first you need to roll a six-sided die in order to decide what type of coin to flip. The weight and size of the coin will probably affect the results.

To decide which coins get allocated to which dice number, write them down on pieces of paper and draw them from a hat.

Ask the users which hat you should use. If they can't come to a consensus, flip a coin.

OK, this is pretty fucking embarrassing. I just bumped my RP which hasn't had a post since 2016. My lock for gravebumping sense is tingling.
