If you've read The Deathly Hallows, you'll recall that Harry Potter sets Kreacher the house elf to track down Mundungus Fletcher in order to recover a certain locket. Three days later, Kreacher appears with Mundungus. Now that's all well and good, but let's see this from Dung's point of view. Mundungus has been happily going about his daily business for weeks, perhaps months now. Unsuspecting, innocent, tranquil. And then one day he's jumped down an alleyway, clobbed over the head with a frying pan and teleported back to the main plot.
This is essentially a solid analogy of Annie's finding me from my perspective.
