Please Consider/Fix;

Pun-Pun Guide:

#1: You can, in theory make a character that has a +100<% chance to evade/block attacks.
#2: As written poison is stackable, throw this on a gun and armour doesn't matter. Add in revolvers for extra hilarity and shoot everyone so they don't have the AP to perform the revival action (assuming they have less than 12AP each, don't bother aiming for the head or eyes). Take a bandoleer of multiple Revolvers for double hilarity.
#3: Take a horse with plate barding + light armour and get the best of both worlds for nothing.
#4: Special attacks are pointless (see #2)
#5: Take Shadowmeld if possible and never be taller than 5ft (try and get smaller if you can).
#6: Take a buckler, you can wear it while duel wielding. Other shields are pointless if duel wielding.
#7: If you *REALLY* want to go melee, get a buckler and two one handed weapons. They do far more than the 2AP or even 3AP weapons plus see #2
#8: Action Economy is King, take Soft armour for the +1AP.
#9: Your weight should be low with this setup, if it's not then lose whatever other crap you're carrying around. You can come back for it later.
#10: If you somehow get more than 17AP consider setting yourself on fire... no one will hit you (this makes #9 more relevant)

DM Guide:

#1 Find a third party dice roller
#2 Watch as players cry havoc because they don't believe you rolled what you said you did on the percentage die.
#3 Set-up a spreadsheet to keep track of everything
#4 Set-up a battle map (I recommend maptools) every time a combat starts so you know where everyone is at and their distance.
#5 Try and ask the players to define how long their polearm is.
#6 Learn of Pun-Pun so you can retroactively ban him
#7 Enemy has poison, everybody dies.
#8 Ban mount (people can take brading and argue they have plate vs melee and soft vs ranged)
#9 Spend 30 minutes reading the rules each day, spend another 30mins explaining your interpretation of them. Ask Azi. Argue some more.

With regards to #2 if the game doesn't support pistols take light crossbows instead.

Sorry Azi but while you have produced a system that tries to look at every nuance of combat it has some issues and this is coming from someone who has played dozens of combat systems (D&D: Advanced, D&D3.5/4/5, PF, FATE, Exalted, PTA even) and all but one of them have one thing in common.

If condensed the basic rules can be fit onto a A4 Sheet of paper and require almost no effort in understanding them. Exalted is the exception but this system you are developing tries to do everything when at the end of the day all people want to do is Whack things with their sword or whatever and be awesome.

I mean you have all these awesome ideas and they'll only end up being wasted because people will see a now 5 long page ruleset with 'optional' rules that only make things harder for them to do what they want to do. Which is be awesome and whack things.

So please listen to me when I say;

Streamline it (at the very least figure out how turn order is decided, you got speed maybe have that factor in so DM's don't need to figure that out). Adjust poison (it breaks everything as it stands) because anyone who includes that rule is going have a war of attrition every time a fight breaks out and stop trying to cover every nuance and remember

KISS and what is it people want to do in roleplays?

Be Awesome (whether that be with excellent writing skills, badasses, or characterisation like Grog) and Whack things.

Chris,

1 In theory, yes, but not forever. After spending all AP, stats are lowered, so even if you have 100% chance of success, it’s still limited. Even if you spend 5 or less AP to not offset regeneration, someone can overspend and so overwhelm you.

2 There’s no way you can poison bullets, the heat, speed and impact would destroy the poison!

3 Mounts are separate entities, so a horse with plate barding would still suffer penalties as a human would.

4 No, they allow brief powerplaying, which can be used to intercept a Combo or life-threatening attack, for example.

5 You’d be quite the sneaky fellow indeed.

6 Do you mean wield the buckler in one hand also holding a weapon (which is historic), or wearing it on your belt? Shields are not pointless, they block most attacks simply by being raised.

7 Wielding a buckler and sword in the same hand means you’d have much less usage with both instruments.

9 If you wanted.

10 Putting yourself on fire isn’t a good idea.

You don’t need to do any of that.

There are no rules in Impurity. Just as the thread says, it is not meant to be taken literally or absolutely, only as a guide. Almost everything is just common sense. Characters adhering to Impurity are not invincible because they have certain stats. For example, if you have 18 Action Points, and someone cuts your head off, you’re dead, no questions asked. This is why there’s the RTD system, real-time-determination, which overrides features of Impurity if requested.

A simple system isn’t hard to produce, I can make add a simpler system instead of working on examples, and see how that goes.
