Okay, I'm doing that history-writing thing again where I get so immersed in writing about an invasion that I direct too much attention towards it.

You know what, screw it. That invasion deserves its own thread!

Although... I've already sort of spoiled what happens, I guess.

That's a pity.

Speaking of which, would anyone be interested in short-term RPs revolving around specific battles, boss fights, or assaults? For example, we could have a fantasy-based battlefield about boarding a steampunk train, a naval battle, a desert battle with quicksand, a castle siege, and so on. Users would also be able to role-play as mini bosses or bosses, to diversify the style of action. Basically, a series of mini RPs with an emphasis on action, tactics, and strategy. So, any thoughts on this?

I'm not so sure that would work, as our posting style simply doesn't allow for it. Our posts tend to last too long, follow posting cycles (people regularly posting before each other) and tend to end where we run out of ideas rather than where we want another character's input.

This would mean any strategy would be dominated by the lead roleplayer in the cycle, with more canon restrictions as the posting order continues. This would be fine if posts lasted moments, but when they start lasting minutes, you spend half the post writing reactions to recaps (which will never get a response).

EDIT: I feel all you'd end up with is what we have now, only fast forwarded to the action.

Hey guys, sorry for interrupting your current chat. But I have some questions.

First off, let me explain that I have written at least 15 fan fictions of runescape, all which have been exclusively to my Clan. But I have wanted to post something here for a long time.

I have won some short story competitions and I dream of becoming an Author someday, but I am far far from the best I can be.

As some of us know, Runescape has 3 books. All in which follow the same story and characters. It also ended on a cliffhanger due to the fact that Jagex didn't want to have anymore.

Now I want to justify the ending of the runescape novels with my own work, by following the same characters. I am not as good as T.S. Church, but I do love his writing and I really want to make at least 1 more story to what I think happened to everyone and why Kara is how she is today.

My question is this, if I was to make my own fanfiction, continuing from where Legacy of Blood left off, what would you want to see in the story?

Please I really just want some ideas from those who have read the book, but I will take into consideration other suggestions.

I currently have my own fanfiction that is taking place in the same year, so I will internally avoid some areas of the game so that my original characters don't run into the Novel Characters. I may also add 1 or 2 more of my own characters that I make for the story.

I also want it to take place in Autumn or Winter, due to the fact that I think the first 3 books were Spring and Summer. I would also need to go over the books again, or at least the last, because it has been a few years since I finished the books.

Due to the character limit, chapters would probably be very short. And I would have to avoid a ton of descriptive writing like I am used to using.
Come the Sixth-Age, the world will need the World Guardian.

My suggestion is to just write what comes to you.
You're working off an existing story universe, so much of it is already there for you. In truth it also limits you.

Also, don't be so overly critical of yourself.
It's rare for anyone to think of their own works as "good" or "polished".
You'll always think of something to add later, or think you could have gone a different story path, or add a lick of paint here, or done a different paint stroke there.

You're the writer. You're not being paid for the work and you're not submitting it to an editor or publisher.
So you don't really have to worry about the politics side of it.
You're the one in control. It will be your creativity and passion behind it.

So yeah, you're going with Church's works as a starting point, with the rest of the RS Universe as a backdrop.
Good luck with that.
Should be interesting in the future.

tl;dr - Be bold! Just do it!
