I recall a thread having been around a while ago, I think Chasers made it, about sailing to an island with dinosaurs and natives. I think we need to bring back such a role-play. Is anyone interested in a pirate RP?

I was thinking of a fantastical version of the West Indies (aka Caribbean) being the area. The role-play begins on a well-off galleon heading for the West Indies, and users are able to be whatever they want: passengers, riggers, soldiers, or even pirates planning to take over the ship, or even RP as a buccaneer with one's own ship to do whatever one wishes, and see what happens from there. I also plan on random events, such as being attacked by a sea monster, pirates, or by an enemy galleon, or the ship facing a sudden whirlpool, cyclone or tsunami.

The RP will also include Native Americans, Aztecs/Mayans/Tlaxcala, Conquistadors, merchants, major factions, trade routs, and even DINOSAURS! Unless this forum is dead, then there may be no reason to make it.

Unless I'm completely off mark, you could probably get a similar story out of Naval Cataclysm. The people of the Waiko are very similar to island/asian cultures, while western sailors are very European themed. People look at runescape and think, "ooh, I don't want to write about that" - but it really is as good a fantasy setting as any other.

Speaking of Naval Cataclysm, is it still active?

Oh? I never noticed, I will have to check it out. RuneScape is not much special compared to most modern games, but it is definitely a very diverse, open, colorful, different adventure indeed.

I will look for this Naval Cataclysm and see what I can see.

*sees it on the front page* Oh, that was easy.

I didn't read through everything, but it seems to be a fanfic-esque RP, not something I can understand or memorize anytime soon. I think I recall checking this out before.

Out of the MMO genre, I'd have to say Runescape does excel in its storytelling, if not it's total 180 degree treatment of non-members and unreasonable unfinished combat mechanics (TIERSCAPE).

Heh, yeah, RuneScape has a vast storyline, and sometimes, you meet up with older characters, such as Charlie the Tramp in the Gnome series, which was a nice surprise for me. The combat is forgivable, seeing as RuneScape is based on Java and there's just only so much they can do, but there are free games way better than paid RuneScape. Personally, I see Jagex's next step in its career continuing into Steam. I think Jagex would do a good job making a family-friendly MMO game available for free on Steam, similar to RuneScape, or even RuneScape itself, but renovated and modernized completely. When I was a kid, I dreamt of a RuneScape that was more realistic.

Anyways, as for other RP ideas, I still have my "dreamscape" idea, as well as my Orwellian post-modern theme with a strong emphasis on surrealism and expressionism, but I'm not sure if anyone's interested in anything like that.

I was considering a thread where people from our world woke up one sunny day on Ashdale (A depressing affair that saw me gone for a month). I figured the story would begin after a brief tutorial and 2 weeks survival training had passed. These adventurers would then be gifted a magical self-writing journal and a backpack that could hold exactly 28 items - before being sent out in the world to find their glory.

That said, I would much prefer to support another endeavour at present :P I'm so out of touch with writing these things that I know where I want it to go - just not who will join and how I will get them there.

I don't think I've heard of these dreamscape/orwellian ideas conceptualised. Have you any form of blurp on what you might create?
