About the death ray/death beam/peace ray/Teleforce,
Seeing as such a project exists only in theory, we can't really say how effective it would be, but I would speculate that such a device would be very rare, very expensive, and probably very fragile. Being able to unleash electric currents, electromagnetic waves, electrostatic repulsion, or whatever the hell it was, would definitely be useful against vehicles and human soldiers, but chances are it would be vulnerable to artillery fire and sabotage. I don't know how much range it would have, but I suppose it could be about the length of lightning bolts during thunderstorms. If anyone ends up being able to use a death ray, further research on its capabilities and limitations will be expected of the user. *sighs with relief that I don't have to do just that*

I will be posting on my threads soon, I just need to eat; I skipped breakfast so that I could spent the morning cutting 1mm sheet metal with a sheet metal shearer, start making some ultra-thin practice-based lamellar or scale armour.

You won't successfully conquer the world in your lifetime.

Not with THAT attitude.

So you're saying that someone with the attitude that they can't conquer the world... will be unable to conquer the world?

...

Not with THAT attitude.

Edit: In fact, just to prove you wrong, I will attempt to conquer the world, fully expecting to fail. And if I succeed (which won't happen) I will have you brought before my throne (which I'm not going to have) just to say "I told you so!" (which I will never get the chance to say.)

Anyways, on a serious note, controlling the world is impossible. You have hundreds of cultures, dozens of languages, and dozens of religions. You won't be able to understand them, and will probably end up offending them if you try to make laws that apply to your entire empire. They will try to separate, and when one province rebels, others will follow suit.

So, you'll have to appoint a governor at the head of each province, who is capable, understands the culture, and is loyal to you, and these governors must be trusted with a great deal of independence. Unfortunately, with hundreds of governors, it is impossible for you alone to ensure that they have all of these qualities - they will go behind your back, and many will be so corrupt and incompetent that they enrage the local population anyways.

So you will have to make another level of government above them, and another level above that. And so on, until it finally gets to you at the top. You will be completely in the dark on most of the happenings and issues of your empire. Every time you wish to give a direct order to an authority figure in an area, it must be relayed through all those levels of government you set up until it finally reaches them. And government officials in general will be unable to do anything because they have so many people above them. The system would be horribly inefficient.

And, with no enemy to declare war on and no ally to negotiate trade deals with, you really have nothing to do but sit there and maintain an army to deal with the countless insurgences that will pop up.

So, directly conquering it will not work. You would basically end up with all the issues that the Roman, Mongolian, British, French, and German Empires faced, but on a constant global scale.

I suppose you could go with the whole Illuminati Puppetmaster routine, but that won't work either. You will have hundreds of puppets in various governments.

You will need a detailed understanding of each government's politics in order to keep your puppet loyal and in power, which is impossible. And such a large organization cannot be kept secret - you will be exposed. There is also no guarantee that you will have full control over all of your puppets - they may be immune to corruption and blackmail, or they may have personal ambitions of their own.
