* was only joking regarding Spirry kidnapping Annie.

So, who's this Rat Man? Note that Spirry likes pain, but also inflicting it. It's two-way, hence why he prefers to be without his skin, to feel constant pain, which is his pleasure.

The Rat Man is one of Angel's characters - a doctor. Only his methods are extremely ineffective and painful. And if you complain or question him, he will just be like: "Trust me, I'm a Doctor."

Yeah, one time he had to take care of one of my characters. It wasn't fun. First he tried to pour sugar a shallow cut, because **** salt. After that he tried to take care of a slightly deeper cut on my character's skin - I think his solution was to cut off the area around the cut and put on a layer of fake skin or something like that, all without any sort of pain relief.

When my character tried to back out and suggest he just pour sugar into the wound as well... the Rat Man obliged, only the sugar he was about to pour in also had some sort of chemical that would make the wound rot even faster and possibly need an amputation. I then proceeded to meta-game the hell out of there.

From my understanding, it's really just an excuse to torture people for money.

The Rat Man is a folk legend similar to the Boogeyman, that people tell their kids to make them go to sleep at night, (or else the Rat Man will come and get you.) However this stems from a real figure, whose real name is Sephys Suran, (though everyone just calls him the Rat Man,) who physically seems to be some mismatch of human and rat body parts. He performs autopsies as often as possible, and is in the business of creating human horrors in his experimentation, using science over magic though some dark forces have to be at work when one considers the end product he produces.

For a while, Sephys Suran was working as a torture technician for a mafia boss, but disappeared when said mafia boss was finally killed. He became the medical officer on-board The Devious Bas tar * , the flagship of mercenary captain John Black, but seeing as Black has very recently crashed that flying ship into the middle of the town Mechanical Spirry is spawning in, it's safe to say the Rat Man isn't around at the moment.

No, seriously, that was literally one of the most disturbing moments of my roleplaying career.

Why, I'm flattered.

He's a very interesting character to play as, but not so useful in 'epic' tales such as the one taking place on Into The Fire, as he's more of a supportive role than a leadership one.

I did have him approach Desmond of the Green Hill, (before his RPer disappeared,) and Inferi acted somewhat horrified of the fact that the Rat Man was now trying to convince a twelve year old boy to follow him back to his lab...
