Eyes met pain as light touched them for the first time in a week. A groan left the bed to wake up the girl snoozing next to it. After a week long recovery, the boy had finally woken up again.
"Tash!" Magenta leapt to his bedside with an ecstatic smile across her face. "You're awake! I almost thought you'd be out for a month or even longer!"
Tash rubbed his hands over his eyes to wipe away the dreary feeling in them. He looked about the room with a confused face. Accompanying him in the room was only a rug, a bed, and a dresser, as well as Magenta to his right atop a wooden chair. "What happened? Where am I?" He pressed his mind to think back to the last thing he could remember prior to passing out. "Tash! Where is he? What'd he do?" He paused then looked over his hands and let his view proceed up his arms and the rest of his body. "Why am I still alive? I didn't beat him, did I?"
Magenta stared at the ground. "I'm not exactly sure what all happened between you two, but when I found you, you were laying unconscious in someone's yard. There was another dead man there with you, but he didn't look like Tash."
"No, he wasn't. That was the murderer I was sent to take care of." Tash sighed. "I did fight Tash though, I'm sure of it." He threw the blankets on top of him aside. "I need to go finish the job." His legs sent a jolt of pain as he swung them to the edge of the bed and slid off. Magenta could see that he still had not fully recovered.
"It's pointless. You're still injured. There's no way you'll be able to defeat him in your state." The stubborn boy showed no sign of stopping as he took another painful step forward. "We're all the way out in Hemenster! You can hardly walk to the door, let alone all the way back to Ardougne!" He cringed again with a third step. "Tash..." Magenta's eyes began to tear up. "Please, just stay here. He gave you another chance. Don't go wasting it so foolishly."
