For a majority of the time before his current mission he had been doing fairly mundane things that greatly differed from his original intention. His previous mission was to investigate a supposed "haunting" at a woodsman's house a little ways down the path from Seers’ Village to the city of Ardougne. It had turned out that a witch had planted a grave-robbed corpse in the basement of the home, and the corpse’s ghostly owner had followed it. The witch remained unfound and the claimed necromancy magic turned out to just be some witch’s attempt to get back at young ruffians. But this new mission had rekindled the fire in Tash's motivation.
"Well, no sense in waiting." Tash took a couple paces towards the forest edge to deduce the best entrance. "I could just burn down a couple trees, but not only could that start an entire forest fire, it could also give away my position. I guess I'm stuck with just hoofing it." He retrieved the axe from his waist in case he was to encounter any path-blocking branches and began his trek. The first thirty feet or so went well with no obstructions, and he was assuming that he was still going directly south, but now he had come to a dead end. A wall of thorns cornered him in from the front and both sides, yet this was an easy fix. Contrary to what he had said earlier about using fire to burn himself a path he pulled out a small collection of runes. A few chaos, fire, and air runes rested in his palm to form a low level but efficient fire spell. He clapped together his hands and shot out a diminutive ball of flame to scorch away the opposing growth. Since it was a low concentration of magic, it only managed to burn away an opening and leave little singed ends on the rest of the thorn patch, which was just what Tash intended to do. "These past seven years have left me with a lot of time to practice magic use. It's amazing what I've learned." He stepped past the former obtrusion and continued on his quest.
