Author's notes

"So, Elite, I just finished reading the story and really want to find the sequel. Have you put it out yet? If so, please post a quick-find code. By the way, FREE BUMPZ0RZ!@#41#"

There is no sequel, and probably is never going to be one. I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but I think now might be a good time to inform anyone still interested on the state of the story.
---State of the Story---
Needless to say, it's been a long, long time since I wrote on this story or any story for that matter. When I first wrote In Bad Company, it ended up being a total of 155 story posts before it reached the 2000 post limit and was locked. When I reposted it here I cut out two or three of the chapters that I thought were useless and added nothing to the story, but it still ended up being 106 story posts. And the crazy part is that the planned story was only about 40% done. I guess I quickly realized that the story as it stood was just too long for me to ever finish it, so I kind of just gave up.
But it was more than just the length that turned me away. In Bad Company was facing an identity problem. When I started writing it was planned to be a sort of brutal crime drama, but I kept drawing inspiration from many different sources and the plot just grew and grew until it was all over the place. The story just overall lacked an identity or any sense of direction.

It's weird how things change and evolve like that. Originally In Bad Company was going to be a story about a young adventurer in Lumbridge who discovered an object on incredible power. Cliche I know, but I was just a nooby at the time. The adventurer ends up being targeted by a criminal organization known as the Underground, led by Roven, who wants the object for himself. Luckily, the adventurer is helped by a heroic mage in the White Knights named Kargil(who use to be partners and best friends with Roven in the White Knights), and with his help is able to travel to a far away place where he is able to properly destroy this powerful object so no one can use it for evil purposes.
I know what you're thinking. How did I get the current In Bad Company from THAT? Well, I decided that the above story needed some sort of background. What was this powerful object everyone was after? What was this criminal organization known as the Underground? Who were Kargil and Roven, and how did their relationship go sour?
When I wrote In Bad Company, it was just going to be the prequel to the above story, with its sole purpose being to provide some background info. The story would go up to the point where Roven and Kargil captured Garth and learned of the Underground and this powerful artifact, at which point the story would pretty much end and Garth would never be heard from again. I was then going to flash-forward ten years later and write the sequel, the 'real' In Bad Company.

Just goes to show you how much things change.

---Possible Sequel?---
So you're probobly wandering, where does the story go from here? I know I said the story in its current form was basically dead, but I have two possible ideas I've been toying around with for a little while.
1. Write a new story that is sort of a spinoff of In Bad Company. This new story will take place after the events of IBC and will include some familiar characters like Kargil, Kane, and Garth, but it won't exactly be a true sequel.
Basically this would be a new standalone story. Even if you never read IBC you would be able to read and understand this new story, although having read IBC will give you some more background to the characters and plot, and will add a little to the overall experience. This new story will offer a conclusion and an ending for everything that unfolded in In Bad Company.

2. A second idea I had was writing a new story that takes place in modern times. In addition to some new characters and a new plot, some old faces would make a return. This new story would include characters from my past stories of In Bad Company, Balance of Power, and Caught in the Crossfire. Somehow, all of these three seperate stories would be wrapped together, with the central plot following that of In Bad Company several hundred years later.
This story would be sort of like idea #1. It would be both a spinoff and an indirect sequel to In Bad Company that is also a standalone story that you could understand and follow without having ever read any of my past stories. However, having read my past stories would give you a better understanding and would add to the overall experience.

I never finished writing In Bad Company, Caught in the Crossfire, or Balance of Power. Basically I'd be knocking out three birds with one stone by creating a conclusion to all three stories simultaniously.

---Should I Just Spoil Everything?---

I might go through with one of the two ideas listed above, or I very well might not.

The thing is, you guys spent hours reading In Bad Company, and many of you have been following the story for weeks, months, or even years in hopes that there will one day be a sequel.
I don't think it's fair to my readers to write a story and then never end up giving them an ending.

So my question to you guys is this: Do you want me to just spoil the rest of the plot of In Bad Company for you? I did that for Caught in the Crossfire when I gave up on the story. I told my fans the entire planned plot and gave them an ending to that story.

Do you guys want me to do the same here? Do you want me to spoil the ending to In Bad Company? Do you want to know everything that happens to Garth, Kane, Roven, and Kargil from this point in the story until the very end of the planned series?
