Hello everyone, this is my second attempt at writing a story, tell me how it goes :)
This story follows the story of two characters, and the chapters may turn to focus on one character after the other. Hope you enjoy :D

Bios can be submitted, but they will not have a large impact on the story.

"Darn, this is hard work!" said the man. He heard his voice echo in the cavern. He was no extraordinary man, just a warrior clad in armour of Adamantine. He swung his Iron Pickaxe and hit the rock one more time, when the rocks began to glow a bright purple.

"This is it, but to go all the way through the Edgeville Dungeon and bypass all the demons is madness." grumbled the man. He looked back into the previous cavern to check if any demons were waiting for him. The demons were jet-black, and all of them had claws sharp as a Rune Sword. The man had to sneak past those unholy creatures by hiding behind rocks. He took out a purple symbol and placed it on the glowing rocks. The rocks glowed purple one last time and disappeared, revealing a bronze door. The *an entered the door and stepped inside.

He appeared to be in a tunnel. There were a few torches, just enough to make the path visible. No other creature seemed to inhabit this tunnel, save for a few rats. The man began to run down the tunnel. He was generally a decent runner, but the armour slowed him down quite a bit. He took a few breaks, and in two hours, he reached the end of the tunnel. There was another bronze door, but this one had glowing glyphs on it. There was a large steel lock on the door. The man attempted to pick lock the door, but in vain. Getting annoyed, he took out his Adamantine Battleaxe and smashed the lock. The lock fell on the ground, and the man opened the door.

He gasped at what he saw. He was in a large room, while the centre of the room was engraved with the same symbol he had, but in a shade of light yellow and blue. The floor was covered in brown tiles. On the four sides of the symbol, were four obelisks with strange artifacts on top of them. There were few streams of lava in the room, burning bright orange. The man began to walk towards the symbol. As he did, the torches in the room were extinguished, leaving the lava as the only source of light.

Then another man stepped in the room. He was dressed in a shirt of orange and gray trousers. He wore an orange hat with two feathers. He had a strange light in his eyes.

"Greetings, Adventurer. I am Nabanik. What brings you to the Dig Site, otherwise known as Senntisten?” asked Nabanik. His voice was quite pleasant to hear, but there was something in his eyes which made the adventurer gulp.

"Good day. I am Aaron. I worship the Empty Lord, and I was brought here when I had a dream where he instructed me to come here through the Edgeville Dungeon." said Aaron.

Hearing this, Nabanik frowned. "So you worship the Empty Lord. What did he tell you in your dreams?" asked Nabanik.

"He told me that if I came here, he would promise me great power. Enough power to make myself a consider amount of wealth." said Aaron, unable to hide the excitement in his voice.

"Ah, so it is you. This chamber here is where I communicate to the Empty Lord. His power is rising and eventually he will come back to us. The Empty Lord had told me that he had called an adventurer here. Let me contact our Lord first." said Nabanik. He stepped in the middle of the circle and began to cast a spell. The artifacts on the obelisks began to vibrate. The symbol began to glow a vivid purple and Nabanik stepped out of the circle. A golden coloured portal appeared above the portal and a voice sounded across the room.

"Azzanadra. Have you proceeded with the plans?" asked the voice. The voice was very deep and had a sound of authority in it.

"Wait, what? Who's Azzanadra?" asked Aaron.

"I am." said Nabanik as he began to glow. His clothes were replaced with gray robes, and his hat turned into a gray hood. There seemed to be a crimson diadem of some sort on the hood. But the most prominent change was in his face and hands. The flesh seemed to turn more and more transparent until a gray, transparent covering covered Nabanik's skull, making his skull visible. His eyeballs turned black with blood red pupils.

Even his hands turned skeletal.

“I am Azzanadra, champion of Zaros and strongest of Zarosians.” said Azzanadra

“What?! I do not wish to have dealings with such unearthly creatures as you!” exclaimed Aaron. He took out his Adamantine Battleaxe and charged towards Azzanadra. As much as he was a strong Zarosain, Aaron had a deep hatred for all creatures, undead, unholy and unearthly. As Aaron's Battleaxe hit Azzanadra, the Battleaxe dissolved.

“What sorcery is this!?” said Aaron. Seeing as he lost his Battleaxe, he began to withdraw his Adamantine Shortsword from his belt. However, Azzanadra's eyes glowed purple as Aaron's arms turned to stone. Tendrils of gray began to come out of Azzanadra's arms. It engulfed Aaron and entered his mouth and eyes. Aaron stopped attempting to move and slumped to the floor, unconscious.

“Well done, Azzanadra. Now carry on with the next part of the plan.” boomed the voice.

“Yes my Lord.” said Azzanadra. He tore off Aaron's helm, and crushed it with two of his fingers. He then levitated Aaron and made another red tendril enter his body. Suddenly, Aaron's eyes began to drip with blood and blood began to came out of Aaron's mouth. Several bones began to protrude from Aaron's body and a black and purple covering began to grow on on Aaron's now severely bleeding head. The covering slowly began to cover Aaron's entire body, with scraps of Adamantine armour, bone and flesh protruding now and then. Eventually, Aaron was clad in the strange covering which sinisterly resembled hard armour. Only his eyes were visible, which were glowing sun-bleached white.

Azzanadra carried Aaron and placed him on a stone table. He began to *ast a spell, and Aaron's body glowed purple. After a few minutes, Aaron stopped glowing.

Aaron's eyes were now pitch black and had a purple symbol. The symbol of Zaros.

Chapter 1: In the Heat of the Battle

Many leagues away from the Dig Site, near the northern entrance of Yanille, a fierce battle was going on. Yanille, which was generally a lightly guarded town, was heavily fortified for the past few days. Usually, the people of Yanille only protected the southern entrance of their city from any stray ogre which decided to have a meal or so. But that was many months ago. Now, archers and wizards stood on top of the city walls, firing arrows and casting spells at the battlefield while the soldiers of Yanille fought the enemy down below on the ground.

The soldiers wore armours of *teel and mithril and were equipped with swords, shields and spears. The archers were clad in dragonhide, from green to black, depending on their skill while the wizards were wearing mystic robes. An army of Zamorakians had decided to storm the city in order to gain more areas for control. They consisted of warriors covered in *lack and red armour with the Zamorakian symbol engraved on their chest-plate. They were having huge maces and mauls and were tearing their way through the ranks of the Yanille troops. Just then, a bright light of blue appeared near the far side of the walls and a man stepped out.

The man was clad with a strange, dark blue armour with a golden trim. He had large shoulder pads in the shape of a dragon. He wore no helm, and he had brown hair which were arranged in spikes at the front. He seemed to be around the age of 24. His eyes were also blue, and he had a scar running from the tip of his right eye to his right ear. He took out two swords of crimson red and charged into the fray. In the battle, he was merciless. He attacked all Zamorakians within his reach as he began to fight his way to the gates. He decapitated, sliced and stabbed all enemies with ferocity. The ones who blocked one of his swords, were too slow to see the other sword striking them. A lot of rubble was in the way, making the man tread careful while fighting.

As the man reached the gate, he began to climb up the wall.

He climbed the wall skillfully, making his progress upwards as he searched for any crack or stone which his hands could use as support, as climbed on top of the wall, he was greeted by a wizard who were green and brown robes. In his hand was a large and thorny staff. His hair was black but was beginning to gray.

“Well met Alder. I think you can see why I called here. I wish we could have met for a drink or so, but as you can see, things aren't faring well here.” said the wizard. His hair was long and combed back and he had a short beard. His voice was strong and at the same time hoarse from giving commands to other wizards.

“Your wizards aren't placed properly, Endemion. They are attacking the warriors who are at the edge of the battle, and aren't focusing on attacking those who are in the thick of the battle and those who are laying waste.” replied Alder. His voice was calm and soothing.

Endemion examined his staff as he spoke. “Ah yes. Early on in the battle, a lesser demon was summoned on top of the battlements. Many of our wizards were engaged in defeating it and hence are now scattered.”

Just as Endemion spoke, a shrill scream, louder than the sound of the battle was heard. It came from the sky. As both sides looked up, a huge bird was flying towards the battle, surrounded by other smaller birds. The bird was covered in gold, and was carrying a spear with an iridescent tip. All the other birds were covered in steel, and carried steel spears and bows.
“Aren't those Aviantese?”asked Endemion. “I thought they were extinct in the Third Age, and only a few remain in the God Wars Dungeon. Surely there aren't these many left.”

“Well, the Clan Citadels used to be strongholds of Armadyl, so the remaining Aviantese must have been living in some of the unoccupied ones for all those centuries.” replied Alder, sounding bored.
The large Aviantese landed a few metres from the battle and stood up as the other birds landed behind it.

“I am Rovenstar, a general of the god of sky! The followers of Zamorak will perish for what their pathetic excuse of a god did to our Lord Armadyl. Prepare to be eliminated!” screeched Rovenstar.

The Aviantese began to charge towards the battle, sweeping aside all in their way. They did not appear to differentiate between the soldiers of Yanille and the Zamorakians, as they were casually attacking all who were in their way. A shout was heard from one of the Zamorakians as they began to flee. The Aviantese chased them, shooting arrows and throwing spears. However, one Aviantese flew towards Yanille and perched on top of a tower near Endemion and Alder.

“Do not think that we support the followers of Saradomin. Your god, too has done damage to Lord Armadyl.” chirped the Aviantese.

“But I don't follow any god!” shouted Alder as the Aviantese began to take flight. The Aviantese looked back at Alder with a dangerous light in it's eye.

You are a non believer?” asked the Aviantese with malice in its voice as it began to take out a blade.

“No. I am a believer, but I choose not to follow any. The gods haven't helped me when my father was executed for the wrong reason. I prayed to all of the gods and yet none helped him.” replied Alder who had great difficulty controlling his anger.

“Very well. Consider yourself lucky that you aren't a non believer, for I would have killed you on this spot if you were. If there is anything worse than a Zamorakian dog, it is a non believer.” said Aviantese. Then, with a screech, it flew off, towards the distance where the other Aviantese were laying waste.

Alder turned towards Endemion. “Now, about my payment...”

"But the Aviantese did all the work!" grumbled Endemion.

"Ah yes, but I must have killed three dozen Zamorakians. The Mercenary Law does state you have to pay the mercenary for killing above 20 targets." said Alder, taking out his hand.

"Very well. 500 gold coins are enough, I hope?" asked Endemion, as he handed Alder a bag of coins.

"Pretty much." said Alder with a grin as he pocketed the gold coins. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some business to attend to. I suggest you place war machines on the castle walls, to help take down masses of troops. Farewell!"

Alder turn vanished in a flash of light.

Chapter 2: Under the Shade of the Oak Tree

Alder appeared in a forest. The trees were tall, and the ground below Alder was covered with leaves. Alder then began to climb up the nearest tree which had many branches. He then began to travel to the western edge of the forest by climbing trees, swinging from branches, and jumping from tree to tree.

Eventually, Alder saw a small cottage. He leaped down towards the ground and knocked on the door.
An elderly woman opened the door. She had wispy gray hair and looked tired. Yet she had a kind smile on her face.

“Hello mother. I brought some more money for us.” said Alder with a smile.

“Well done Alder, your adventurous exploits are beginning to rival that of your father's! Now tell me about what happened so far.” said Alder's mother.

A few hours later, Alder was chopping some trees for some firewood, when his mother called out to him. Gathering some of the firewood, Alder went towards the cottage.

“Alder, it is time I show you something. You are mature enough to take responsibility and you are intelligent enough to comprehend what I am going to show. Follow me.” said Alder's mom, as she took a walking stick and walked out of the house.

Alder followed his mom. He had been brought up in these very woods and realized they were heading towards the direction of a large oak tree. Apparently, this tree had been there for many centuries and was said to be planted by fairies themselves when they decided to travel Gilienor. A few minutes later, they reached the oak tree. Alder's mother began to chant a spell while moving her walking stick across specific parts of the oak tree. Alder kept quiet and watched.

Within seconds, the tree began to glow white. Then, a hole appeared in the trunk of the oak tree. Alder's mother put her hand inside it and took out a small ball. She opened the ball and inside it was a silver, stone-like structure.
