Oh, the story isn't finished (?).
Well, I noticed the issue about the forum being dead, so I decided to pop by and read the story, as that's the least I could do.
So I read from the first little conflict, and then a little more about the dwarf, scimitar-wielder, senators, walking around a castle, a history lesson, the other guy from the north, and then a chat.
On page 35, post 3, there is a censored word, just thought I'd mention that, just in case.
Personally I found the action relatively pale. Professional soldiers could fight for 3-5 minutes, so a duel lasting over an hour isn't realistic, nor is it when swords strike swords repeatedly, but who cares about me and my bias.
Have you seen a documentary called Weapons that Made Britain? The whole series is on youtube and it's an excellent documentary, sure to give anyone an idea of melee combat (even though it's not focused upon the ancient world, it is still worthwhile watching). Two other good series are Conquest and Warrior. Oh, and not that I'm trying to bite your heel, but I simply figured I'd mention those few things in case you were interested.
Unfortunately, I did not quite get the same experience as the reviewers mentioned, but at least I read the story from the prologue to chapter 9. Honestly I did find it hard to follow, but that's just me.
I suppose that's all for now, as I don't have much to say, as that's not in my place.
