It was very clear that the young woman had not expected the reactions that she had gotten, as her visage turned from what it had been to a very surprised look before finally transforming into one of the most relieved smiles anyone there had seen. Taking a deep breath, she reached up and drew a hand across her eyes, wiping away the tears that had started to form there before she said, “
Thank you. I...don’t think I can ever repay this.

Taking a moment to compose herself, the young woman spoke again, and when she did her voice was a lot more composed and steady than it had been before.

It’s not far. A couple hours if you’re moving at a decent pace. I would have continued the rest of the way without stopping here, but I needed to take the time to wrap up my leg. I won’t deny that I was hoping my pursuers would be dealt with as well, since they had the severe advantage on me after I got separated from my unit. Like I said, though, I don’t know why they’re attacking. It’s just a basic military outpost, with a small facility for travelers to stay if they need to. I don’t think it’s an army, either...they way those soldiers moved didn’t seem to indicate that they were part of too large of a force.

At the offer to ride ahead and warn them, her face brightened, but then it faded somewhat as she told him, “
You can, and I don’t mind it at all, but...well, I don’t know if they’ll really believe you. I don’t really have anything I can give you to make it more legitimate, either. It’s worth a try, though.

At this point, she stood back up, putting some weight on the injured leg to test it. A small grimace appeared on her face, but it spread back into the smile soon enough when she remained standing. Her stance didn’t look as shaky as it had, and she was about to reach down to the bandage when Elizabeth offered the drink to her.

No, she doesn’t.
” the bartender answered Elizabeth for the young woman. “
Two of them will increase the rate at which her injury heals, but they will also have negative effects shortly in the future.

It’s not that bad, anyways. It looks a lot worse than it really was, and I think it’s mostly good now.
” the young woman said, turning her smile to Elizabeth and adding, “
Thank you, though. I appreciate the offer.

At that, she went to continue what she had been doing, unwrapping the bloody bandages to reveal a leg that, although it had a fair amount of blood stuck on it, didn’t have any visible injuries. Inspecting it as best she could, the young woman seemed satisfied, although when she placed it back on the floor it was done gently. Seemingly satisfied, she dropped the leg of her pants back down over it, taking a few steps around before coming back to the bar and leaning against it.

If you’re all serious about coming with me, I’d say we should leave soon. I just need to grab my equipment, and although I’m not going to rush any of you, it’d probably be good if you did the same. I’ll be back down in a moment.

Pushing away from the bar, she began to make for the stairs leading back up. Only a few steps had been made before the bartender spoke up, saying, “
Your equipment is down here. You left it, remember?

As the young woman turned around, looking confused, he reached under the bar and brought up a heavy mechanical crossbow. He placed it on the countertop before reaching back under and withdrawing several more standard items, like a utility belt, holstered bolts, and a sheathed knife. All of them appeared to be rather new, as well as standard military grade.

The confused look still on her face, the young woman walked back over, looking the equipment over before giving one last strange look at the man and starting to collect it for herself. At this point, it was up to everyone else to follow her advice and get ready or back out.

Annie said with a smile," I am very serious that I will go with you. I am ready to go whenever you are ready. I was wondering what happened to your leg?" She went to the place where she dropped her pack before the fight. Then she put her pack on her back. She was very excited for a new adventure and be a hero. -Dances-

Elyssia

“T-thank you…” Elyssia said, accepting the bottle.

Truth be told, she wasn’t in a drinking mood – alcohol or otherwise – but she also wasn’t quite in a position to refuse.

Raising the vial to her lips, her mouth was immediately assaulted by the sickeningly sweet liquid with an almost fiery warmth reminiscent of her father’s whiskey. The warmth spread down her torso and into her limbs, her back springing up as though a great weight were lifted from her shoulders. Elyssia couldn’t remember the last time she had felt this good, even before her… departure.

She lifted the bottle ever so slightly, only to find she had already emptied the bottle. She examined the vial for a few seconds in wonder, before glancing up at the cloaked woman. Whatever was in this liquid?

Shaking her head, she figured now wasn’t the time for that. Her anxiety may have been curbed, but she was still all too conscious of the shooting minutes prior. It wasn’t particularly easy to forget, for the patrons of the bar weren’t particularly subtle in their choice of conversational topics. One of said topics peaked her interest.

“Those men… are going to attack an outpost?” Elyssia muttered, probably loud enough for the cloaked woman to hear. Balling her fists against her lap, she herself had just come from an outpost not far from here. They were kindly people who had fed her and given her directions to this very inn.

Having already gathered his belongings Isaac stayed where he was and looked over the others in the room who had volunteered, shifting over the disgruntled gunslinger to the young girl with her insistent (and already answered) questions, to the man who claimed to have a horse. Including himself that made four volunteers, so unless somebody else stepped up it would be a party of five - four if the man with the horse rushed ahead.

Not quite a team that would turn the tide of a battle.

Near as he could tell he was the only volunteer (aside from the injured woman) with formal combat training. The gunslinger appeared to be more of a self-taught merc, the fellow with the horse hadn't displayed much besides an ambush blast from his weapon and the young girl... Honestly, from what he'd seen of her it just seemed like luck had been on her side through that encounter. Their range of weapons were varied but not especially well-suited to organized strikes, and their combat styles differed far too much to easily work together without getting in one another's way.

So basically, organizing them would be a tough job - if at all possible before they reached the outpost. It may even hinder some of them who were not used to following orders and working alongside military personnel. They might even work better under their own command, perhaps with loose instruction and call-outs.

Isaac shook his head, clearing his mind as he settled in - waiting by the door for the rest of them to finish getting their gear ready. Overthinking things wasn't going to help... Sometimes you needed to work through on instinct, and he had the strangest feeling that this might be one of those times.

The bartender answered Elizabeth’s question for the young woman.

“Oh? Sorry. I didn’t know,” Elizabeth remarked, lowering the drink, Rory snickering. When the young woman smiled to her, Elizabeth somewhat smiled back. She put the drink down and stroked the side of her head.

The young woman undid some bandages, revealing that her leg wasn’t that bad at all. Her first drink had done its work.

The bartender produced the young woman’s crossbow, a rather outdated-looking weapon, but there it was.

“Well, we better get a’ goin’, den,” Rory remarked.

“I’m coming with you all,” Elizabeth assured. “Just let me get my violin, that’s really important...”

Harry Richard

Harry nodded, somewhat reluctantly. If there was no way to prove his warning was serious, and they didn't believe him, then the effort would be meaningless. Alternatively, they could interpret his warning as a threat, or detain him if they thought he was wasting their time. The thought of coming so close to an outpost of armed authority figures was already bad enough, after his previous brushes with the law.

But there was no way they would recognize him all the way out here, right? And besides, though he might have been a career criminal who killed a handful people in the past, none of those people were actually innocent, and the thought of letting potentially innocent people die when there was a chance to avoid it did not sit right with him.

He sighed. "I'll go anyway. Even if they don't listen, I can keep an eye on the place. Just point me in the direction."

That seems to be the case. Them or someone allied with them, at least.
” the hooded woman said, seeming to have heard Elyssia’s mutters. “
Why? Were you thinking of trying to help?

It’s southeast. Just go along the road, and you’ll get to it eventually. It’s a bit off the road itself, but it’s up on a hill, so you should be able to find it pretty easily.
” the young woman told Harry. “
It’s not a large place, only a few buildings outside of the stone barracks and tower, so that’s what you want to look for.

To Annie, she said, “
I got shot, a short while before coming here. Hurt worse than it really was, although I’m definitely not going to complain about it getting fixed up right here. I would assume it was the same people who came after me, but I didn’t really get to look at who did it.

Taking the crossbow by the attached strap and sliding it over her shoulder, the young woman took a couple steps away from the counter, nodded to herself, and then said, “
Yeah, when everyone’s ready, let’s go. I’ve spent too much time sitting here already.

As everyone went to move towards the door, the hooded woman said, “
If you’re going to go, this seems to be your chance. If you want my advice, though, I’d say that you shouldn’t unless you’re absolutely sure that you can.

There wasn’t any hint of an insulting or derogatory tone in the woman’s words. If anything, there was some concern. She didn’t seem to have a preference either way, although it did look like she wasn’t sure if this was Elyssia’s best choice.

Once everyone that was going had assembled outside the door, the rather motley group set off in the direction that the young woman had indicated to Harry earlier. Presumably he had left before everyone else, and was already on his way there.

As they walked, the young woman, somewhat hesitantly, spoke up, asking, “
If a fight is to take place, what can everyone here do? I’m still a bit of a novice, honestly, but I’m not a bad shot with a crossbow.
