If Salem hoped to tail Lily effectively at the pace she was keeping he would most likely have to break stealth, else the man would likely be left in the dust. The young woman's speed and fluidity in her movement meant trying to keep track of her would be a highly active task, especially where she so neatly leaped over obstacles and wove in and out of the trees, incredibly efficient in her chosen route. Her footfall was light, producing barely a sound as each step seemed softer than it should have been.
The great, ruined tree was not far now. It still stood high above the rest, a beacon for miles around, no doubt a popular spot for local life, sentient or otherwise, to be close to.
Thus it came as a mild surprise when she arrived to find nary a soul in sight. Lily halted a mere few metres from the base of the great tree, the blackened foliage crackling underfoot, and gazed around at the small clearing. Nothing, not a man, bird or beast was visible, and looking up into the tree itself she saw no clear signs of life. Had the attack wiped out the life here? Or perhaps any who had been here now fled from the one who struck?
"
If so, any survivors would not have gotten far in so short a time...
" She mused aloud, her sharp eyes flickering to the ground, scanning the ruined foliage for small signs. Indeed, it was not difficult, at least for one who knew what they were looking for, to notice the small, somewhat subtle signs of a human moving through terrain they were not used to navigating. Even in the wake of a terrible fire there were still things that did not add up, such as snapped branches, disturbed foliage and upturned earth.
Yet most telling were the footprints left in the light layer of black ash.
Her gaze rose to the direction the footprints headed, and so she continued onwards.
I am Inferi.
