Cade was, at this point, sort of halfway between puzzling over what had just happened with this instrument, and freaking out about a combination of a giant dragon about to incinerate them all and one of the other travelers about to fall to his demise.
The first of the two problems was solved when he was finally pulled up, but the second only got worse as the dragon reared up into the sky, charging up some kind of high power fire...as if what they'd gotten already wasn't enough.
Before he had time to react sensibly, instincts kicked him and to his horror he found his hands moving toward the strings of the instrument. This was hardly the time to be playing music, and he didn't even know how to use one of these!
However, just before the dragon let loose its raging fires upon the group and the forest, he played one chord. It actually sounded quite good, much to his surprise. Something about the way it was played reached all the other members of the party, and he suddenly felt lighter and less exhausted. the others would get a similar effect.
he did the first thing he could think to do; he ran over to the two standing by the edge. And at abut twice the speed he was used too. This surprised him to say the least, but he found that he'd gotten faster for some reason. Hopefully, they would be fast enough to find shelter before they're burnt to a crisp.
