Here's a thread of someone with a genius Forinthry digsite idea that I based some of this on: 185-186-157-66152556

And here's a thread where I propose an update to cull griefing to make such a digsite, complete with lore pages, possible: 74-75-148-66158198

Journal of Eltonck, cir. year 450, the first age

Guthix talks of our people's beginnings here often, though this is all I've known. It's crazy to think that only a couple centuries ago my gnomish ancestors stepped through the world gate, and aeons of history preceded for them on the other side. He is sure to remind us all of this often, lest we grow complacent.

Indeed, I am surrounded by stories. My grandfather tells us tales of the plains out west where he grew up, and my mother of the parting tears she witnessed when they decided to explore new land. But nothing compares to the lush forests of this land we live in now. Food is plentiful, and the humans and dwarves we encounter are just as enamored by this place as we are. What a treat to be able to experience this world.

Journal of Eltonck, cir. year 451, the first age

I made a friend today, a dwarf from the next village named Turgar. He’s a very skilled blacksmith—nearly everything in his home is made from some kind of mineral that he mined and smithed himself. It’s very interesting, and such a niche skill. Us gnomes mostly make tools out of wood and clay, which seem to serve us just fine. When I told him this he laughed and said, “but you can’t defend yourself with wood!”

I was a little taken aback by this. Would I ever really be in danger by another person? I mean I guess it’s possible but the world has been at such peace my whole life that it’s just so hard to imagine physical conflict that the community, or god forbid, Guthix himself, couldn’t resolve. Regardless, Turgar is a fun friend to be around. I’m sure his dwarven community has many interesting secrets to discover.

Turgar stumbled into one of our illusions yesterday, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. It was a cadavaberry bush that we had made appear like a redberry bush to ward off animals who might try and eat our crops. I witnessed it happening and tried to stop him, but alas, it was too late. Illusion magic is as foreign to Turgar as blacksmithing is to me, I guess.

I wonder if illusion magic could be employed if a time of conflict were to ever erupt. I don’t know if it ever will, but I’ll practice a little just in case. Too bad for Turgar though… he’s going to be feeling pretty sick for the next couple days. I’ll make sure to pay him frequent visits until he feels better.

Journal of Eltonck, cir. year 486, the first age

Our village was invaded by giants last week. Huge creatures made of ice, who come from the plateau in the north. Our dwarven allies promised to come to our aid, but then they too were invaded and suffered heavy casualties. My old friend Thurgar may not make it, but now is a time for action.

Notes of the scout Ma’akra, year 305, the second age

What a world we have encountered. Civilizations of elves, gnomes, humans, and more have already established themselves. My assigned territory is the land recently named Forinthry, where Guthixian dwarves and gnomes take life simply. Yet there are signs of an impending invasion by the mysterious god known as Zaros, which should not be ignored.

Forinthry is a lush land; it's no wonder Zaros wants it. The current inhabitants have been here for centuries, nomadic peoples who live in peace. Above them is one of the many sky islands this world enjoys, which as of yet has not been settled. I plan to report this to my zu’uk; we could see this be a new home for our people on top of Stormguard and the other citadels.

It is actually quite pleasant to think that it took this long, but alas, at long last I was spotted and captured by a Zarosian envoy. They had an enormity of questions for me, not least of which was why I was in their territory in the first place.

I must admit it is a little awkward being asked such a question given the circumstance, but while very serious and earnest, they were not as hostile as a potential enemy power could be expected to be. I told them sincerely that I had been tasked by Armadyl to gain a greater understanding of the activities of those nations around us, and that we were interested in the island above. Though it took some time and I had to appeal to Zaros himself, he saw no credible threat and let me go with diplomatic immunity.

Notes of the scout Ma’akra, year 378, the second age

The Zarosian empire is sprawling toward the north and seems to entirely contain Forinthry now. My party have flown over the length of the empire and observed buildings being constructed, armies being trained, and, in Forinthry, members of five races living side by side with a relative degree of cooperation: humans, demons, and vampyres, and the few dwarves and gnomes who haven't moved to be closer to their people.

Although we may have reservations on the leadership style exhibited by Zaros, it is of no doubt that he is a master of world building. If only he ensured the equal treatment of all his people. I could be a little starry-eyed saying this, but I wish we could scoop up some of the humans and gnomes who are too often made sport of and house them in our citadels. Though not many would like to follow us where we truly feel at home: the skies.

Notes of the greenhouse keeper, year 607, 1957 the second age

Continued p. 3.6, 3.7

Notes of the greenhouse keeper, late second age

I have elected to become personally involved in the affairs of the Forinthry greenhouse, as progress is still so frustratingly slow on solving the dilemma of the Ilujanka. We have tried concoctions made with the finest of herbs, with the most exotic of fruits, and the most consummate of flowers, but nothing we have discovered to date interacts with their life essence the way we would like. We can produce potions that will make an Ilujanka faster on their feet, stronger in battle, more resistant to disease… but curing their infertility still escapes us. It’s such a simple task, and yet it proves to be extraordinarily evasive.

-Zaros

Notes of the greenhouse keeper, late second age

A breakthrough may be imminent. While I have historically created nihil out of Icyene, Avernic, Aviansie, and Vampyre essence, I have struggled to create one bound to the essence of a dragon rider. Now, however, we have discovered a very unique property of an even more unique strain of lychee. The crushed fruit may serve to bind the essence in place long enough for the energy of Mah to secure it. We could create an Ilujanka nihil and weave its living essence back into an Ilujanka proper. Maybe, just maybe, this could be the solution we have been waiting for.

Notes of the greenhouse keeper, year 1, the third age

This day will undoubtedly go down in history: our lord was assassinated last night by his most revered general. I am scrapping all current projects because any hope of finishing them in these circumstances is lost. Armies are eyeing Forinthry as a prime target of invasion as I write, and none of us here have the power to create nihil, let alone use divination to harness its power. It appears that the Ilujanka must fend for themselves. Zaros help them, if invoking his name even means anything now.

Zamorakian infantry orders, year 3720 of the third age

We have secured a temporary alliance with the Bandosians, but trust that they may turn on us at any moment. They believe they will have the element of surprise; do not let this be the case. Saradominist militias of centaurs and imcando dwarves will be patrolling the ground; they are our prime objective. Circle them from all sides. Vyres take to the skies and flank them from above. There are no Aviantese to be seen—the skies will be filled with Icyene but do not underestimate them.

Do not fear when winged creatures attack; unless you are a Vyre, smite them with fire magic from a distance. Do not let them near you. Keep them near each other; we want them to shed as much of their own blood as possible. Keep the Bandosians nearest to the enemy, and encircle them as well, in the event that our lord’s suspicions about them are correct.

Zamorakian infantry orders, year 3722 of the third age

Aviantese have appeared out of nowhere from what seems to be a hidden citadel. Focus all your attention on them. Worryingly, it appears that Saradominist and Armadylean forces have secured an alliance with each other. The Bandosians are expected to turn as well, but their batallion of orks has suffered heavy casualties as anticipated. Continue to flank them on the west and south and above, all the way to Forinthry’s northern coast.

We have heard reports of Icyene flying over our lines. Do not let them surround us. Be prepared to smite them on sight with fire.

Zamorakian infantry orders, year 3723 of the third age

Retreat to and take Senntisten. Abandon all previous objectives. Retreat as quickly as possible, putting all your attention on the Icyene to our south. Do not attempt to secure a victory—we are badly wounded and surrounded. Surrender will not occur. Our lord has secured a powerful weapon that will decimate anything in sight. Do not waste time firing anything to the north. Do not be anywhere near the blast when it goes off. We repeat: Retreat to and take Senntisten.

Journal of Scalatrix, year 3, the fourth age

Our team have managed to charge the ancient Zarosian pylons to usher in some protection from the vile forces of this barren land while we figure out what approach to take next. It has been only three short years since the god of balance awoke and banished the rest of the warmongering fools, and he has tasked us with restoring this land, should it be anywhere within the realm of possibility. We plan to start with a standard purification ritual but have other ideas should that fail to produce adequate results.

We see dragon-like humanoid creatures patrolling the skies every now and then. Fortunately for us the pylons seem to keep them at bay as well.

Journal of Scalatrix, year 4, the fourth age

Being here for some time has changed us. The residual energy of the Stone permeates every creature, including us, augmenting our abilities, and strikingly, reshaping our minds. It’s not a horrific transformation, but something about the energy of the Stone makes us want to participate in the desolate nightmare that its energy produced, rather than cure it. It makes us want to go out and slay revenant beasts and create a culture of Chaos. But we forge on with a task from Guthix himself, and we will not falter.

Journal of Scalatrix, year 6, the fourth age

The pylon is far too finicky a piece of equipment, and it is only a matter of time before our thoughtlessness dooms us all. My very good friend, the druid Pekkenmix, found himself beyond the barrier just yesterday and before either of us knew what was happening, a revenant soul ripped him to pieces before my very eyes. This wilderness is a godforsaken land, both metaphorically and quite literally, from all the events that have transpired these past years. I am starting to lose hope that we will ever be able to cure it. At least not without losing ourselves in the process.

The page is stained with tears.

Journal of Scalatrix, year 74, the fourth age

Today marks the fall of Saranthium. The dragon humanoids flew overhead and I almost thought they were going to shatter the barrier made by the pylon. But they had other sights in mind. Not too long after, I saw billowing smoke to the southeast and could hear the screams all the way from where I am.

It has been far too long, but Guthix mandated it. I am the only one of our party left. I believe I am going to retire to Taverley and live out the rest of my days with the druids there. This land, as much as it pains me to say it, is incurable.
