Actually, Virtual Reality is becoming more and more...reality!
A system has been developed that triggers points on the body to "jolt" when shot or hit. If this technology was advanced and then combined with the current virtual reality software, we'd have ourselves something pretty realistic. I'd say the only thing we would be missing there is some sense of motion. (Such as gravity, jumping, walking, turning and etc.)
