Life in Central City wasn't always this way.

Once, it had been safe to walk the streets without looking over your shoulder. Once, parents could feel safe about letting their children walk home from school. Once, you could rely on the local police force to protect you.

Once, the city was not controlled by corruption and greed.

Those days have long been left in the past. For at least two decades crime has been on a steady rise in Central City, the number of violent acts, robberies, sexual assaults, kidnappings and many other terrible deeds have skyrocketed with the police, in many cases, proving to be as bad if not worse than the perpetrators. Offices of import have been filled with corrupt, twisted individuals who bring only misery to those beneath them.

To find benevolence and justice these days is to find a small miracle hidden beneath a mountain of filth.

Yet what can the people do but live in ignorance? The darkness of Central City is widespread, attracting more and more scum of the world each year as rumours spread to the four corners. Citizens believe such terrible things could never happen to them, not until it is too late for them to protect themselves and their families. Each year more gangs emerge from the woodwork, more good cops are turned bad and more greedy men are placed into positions of power and influence.

You are a citizen of Central City, living your life just a few feet from crime at any given moment. You, like so many others, have placed hope in smiling faces that promise change and healing - only to be disappointed time and time again, to witness injustice and sick perversions that you can do nothing about.

Then, one ordinary night, a star shoots across the sky - and you can do something. I am Inferi.

-SUMMARY-

Welcome to Central City, a massive, sprawling metropolis that, at its very core, is sick with the plague of evil.

Crime and corruption can be found in near enough every neighbourhood. The big seats are filled by the wicked, two thirds of the cops are on some bad guys payroll, petty criminals roam the night to do as they please... It's not a good time to be a good person. What few are out there can only do so much, and so much isn't enough when someone higher up is throwing away all their attempts at change and justice.

You though, an ordinary civilian of Central City, have awoken the day after a gleaming silver star crossed the night sky and found yourself feeling... Different. Some kind of incredible powers have come to you, seemingly from nowhere, and you know what you must do with them.

However, the path to changing this filth-encrusted city is a long and hard one. To be able to act freely, to bring about justice and change, you cannot be yourself. You must hide your identity from evil eyes to protect not only the life you hope to live, but the lives of those you hold dear...

Take up your mask, heroes. Become one of those who will stand for justice.

Or die trying. I am Inferi.

You all know the rules already, so here are some guidelines to keep things relatively smooth-sailing.

1: Be true to yourself - find the brand of justice that sits right with you.

2: Costume up! Your mask is your shield, do not let your identity become known to evil, less you and your loved ones suffer the terrible consequences...

3: Many will stand against you. Not just those that wish you dead, but the many who will wish to know how such incredible things are possible. Be cautious, but uphold your justice - do not waver!

4: You are weak. Find yourself, find your style, learn to control this power - and become strong enough to face down the most vile of evils.

5: Protect the innocent. Always. I am Inferi.

-CRIME AND CORRUPTION-

Despite the rumours and the terrifying reputations of some of Central City's most powerful influencers these people remain free, any evidence against them mysteriously disappearing or never seeing the light of day in the first place. They are dangerous no matter what they may reveal in public, their true colours the worst kept secret in the city.

Harold Holmes: Mayor of Central City, a blustering politician who maintains that there is no corruption in his beloved city, and that if he smells even the slightest whiff of it then he would drop the full force of Central P.D. onto the problem. The reality is all too obvious, if lacking evidence - Mayor Holmes is a money-hungry puppet for the real powers of the city, and he will use his influence to do near enough anything these generous benefactors desire.

Justin Averwich: The District Attorney of Central City. A man who, should evidence be uncovered and brought to trial, will go to great lengths to make sure any charges are quashed. Phoney evidence has been suspected to be used in cases Averwich oversees, and many an innocent man has been sent to Central City Maximum Security if rumours are to be believed - where the truly twisted minds are let free once again.

Jessica Monroe: Police Commisioner of Central City P.D. and a suspected sociopath. Monroe controls the police in Central City, working hand in hand with the D.A and the Mayor's office to bring criminals to justice - or at least, that is how it's supposed to work. Appointed by the mayor at the behest of certain benefactors Jessica Monroe is a sadistic individual who enjoys the pain and suffering inflicted on others, but is remarkably good at keeping it hidden. With such a person running the police force, is it any wonder the cops of Central City can't get anywhere? I am Inferi.

Jack "The Ripper" Davidson: A man who is known to only certain circles, his name kept out of the public eye. Jack Davidson is a hitman in the employ of near enough anyone who would dare to hire him, working primarily for the Godfather of Central City himself. His past is a mystery, but his skills as a killer are exceptional - performing to the exact specifications of his employers with near perfect accuracy. He is mostly an unknown.

Walter Vasquez: The man in the shadows, "Don" Vasquez is the man with his fingers in all of the pies - the proclaimed Godfather of Central City. Sitting at the very top of the Vasquez crime family, an untouchable man with a near-enough empire of people working under him. Said to be ruthless and vicious, but quite the family man, there is little that goes on in Central City without Vasquez knowing about it.

But Central City is home to far more than just these unsavory individuals. Small time crooks, muggers, petty gangs, killers, smugglers, traffickers... You can find all sorts in the city, you never have to look far. I am Inferi.

Name: Wendy Jacobs.
Alias: Shade.
Age: 20.
Gender: Female.

Appearance: Wendy is a young beauty, standing at the above average height of 5'10" with a slender, albeit toned, physique that might remind people of a swimmer's body. She has clearly maintained a semi-decent fitness regime, enough to get her through most physical exams at least, but she is far from the most muscular woman around. She sports a C-cup bust and a petite, toned rear.

Naturally fair skinned, Wendy has managed to avoid getting any kind of tan over her 20 years of life, somehow avoiding any sunburns and general redness as well. Whether she has a general resistance or if she just doesn't spend enough time in the sun is anyone's guess, but she has never put much thought into it. Regardless, she doesn't have many scars worth noting, save a long, thin graze on the left side of her ribs where a knife cut her a few years back.

Her face boasts soft, feminine features and unblemished skin. A small nose, white teeth, pink lips and smooth cheeks. Her eyes are colored a bright amber, while her hair is a dark auburn that is naturally wispy. It's a pretty good looking pixie cut, albeit close inspection can tell that it is a little choppy - probably done by an amateur.

Costume: In keeping with her skillset, Wendy's costume as Shade is mostly black and midnight blue to better fit with the darkness. She made a skin-tight spandex bodysuit, obviously inspired by comic book heroes, that goes from her ankles up to her neck. It's stretchy and breathable, so Wendy has a lot of freedom of movement, and is of course black. On her feet are a pair of black boots, a pretty light pair that don't make any extra noise when she walks in them - a pair of black gloves on her hands.

But despite the freedom of the spandex Wendy would feel a little too naked wearing only that, so she found this really nice black hoodie with a cowl neck, leather sleeves and an asymmetrical white zipper. On the back she stitched into the I am Inferi.

hoodie a hooded face, with wispy tendrils rising up around it and a pair of swirling eyes beneath the top of the hood. She kind of likes it. The addition of a black scarf around her neck that trails behind her slightly, at least in her opinion, makes her look kind of badass.

Most importantly, however, is her mask. The hood of her hoodie is pretty good and looks great, but that isn't enough to secure her identity in her opinion, so she found one of those generic black eye masks to wear as well. The combination of the cowled neck and the scarf itself can cover her mouth and lower face pretty effectively too, and luckily the hood doesn't just fall down with fast movement. It holds pretty well.

History: Born and raised in Central City, Wendy was born at the start of the crime epidemic that laid claim to her home. Her father died when she was still very young, mugged on his way home from work and fatally shot in the process. Wendy's mother struggled to make ends meet, ending up exploited by one of the gangs in her poor neighbourhood in order to earn money. Wendy wisely chose never to ask her mother about any details of this, but she knew it was a horrible experience based on the changed look in her mother's eyes.

A lucky break when Wendy was 12 got them out of that terrible neighbourhood just in time. The gang that ran those streets had been looking the way of Wendy more and more often when she came home, and were they there any longer it was possible she wouldn't be alive today. Or if she were, then she'd have been much worse off. Finding a middle-class apartment a bit deeper into the city changed things for the better, albeit things were still never easy both Wendy and her mother had far less fear of leaving their home.

Things passed uneventfully up until she graduated high school and headed off to the local college, a particular interest in animals leading her to study them - wanting to become a vet. However, the local college campus was just as bad, if not worse, I am Inferi.

than much of the surrounding area. It wasn't brazen, but the amount of reported crimes that went uninvestigated on that campus terrified her. Sleazy people hanging around the place put her on edge, and some students she knew from classes even ended up going missing.

Wendy is now in her final year of college, and being witness to so many terrible things has left her with a deep-seated rage in her gut. She wants justice for the people, and now she's going to get it - one way or another.

Power(s): Wendy's powerset seems to lend itself towards a stalking, ambush style. She possesses the following:

-Shadow Manipulation (The full capabilities of this are, as of yet, unknown)
-Enhanced agility and flexibility, in addition to incredible leaping and climbing.
-Sharpened senses.
-Seems to be able to ignore certain laws of reality. (For example, being able to pass through corners, or being able to step on thin air in a sort of 'double jump')
-When unobserved, Wendy can move at five times her normal speed. As a side effect of this ability Wendy is always aware of when she is being observed, even via cameras.
-Strange whispers from the shadows...

Anything else: She owns three dogs. I am Inferi.
