((Corbonyo - Accepted.

Zang**oo - please reduce your civilization's population by about one hundred thousand. They may be a peaceful society with a small military, but that doesn't mean more can't join up and even a civilian giant sounds like it would be a match for the everyday soldier.

We'll wait for a few more to join before I start this off.))

((It's been done. Wasn't entirely sure what the population scale would be basing off your mainland. I know you said it was proportionally bigger, but I wasn't sure exactly how much larger. Could you give a percentage for how much landmass the mainland has in comparison to normal? I'm not sure exactly what a 4 month walk converts to in distance.))

(( Finally, I finished reading the submissions so far. We have the island-originated empire, the varying ape-like Goeraks (coincidentally, I have seen monsters with similar-sounding names in Dungeon Siege and RuneScape) that lay eggs, and the Half-Giants, all with their leaders. The races and their leaders are diverse and dangerous for sure. ))

Race bio

Name: **ivoth / “Grays” (two stars are Gr so "Grays" are better to avoid censor)

Lifespan: *50 years

Appearance: At a distance, **ivoths perhaps resemble Minotaurs from Greek mythology, but up-close, they have some major differences. They resemble humans in basic shape, essentially evolved bipedal primates, but they possess grey to white skin, and grey fuzz over the entire body; they do not have cranial or facial hair, only gray fuzz. As such, they are sometimes nicknamed “Grays”.

Males and females alike possess large horns that vary in size and shape, and can resemble the horns of a bull, ram, bison, goat, and so on. **ivoths have faces similar to humans, but the faces tend to be square-shaped, giving them a very angular, rigid appearance, rather unattractive to behold, as males and females look alike. They have large oval-shaped ears that point upwards, and their necks, backs, shoulders, foreheads and noses tend to be broad and tall.

**ivoths are around six feet tall, not remarkably tall or short, but their obviously huge backs and broad shoulders means that they are physically powerful, especially when charging. They have lean limbs, their hands have three bulky fingers with hoof-like fingernails, and three giant toes with hoof-like toenails; they walk on the forefoot. They have brown eyes.

Other: **ivoths are often hotheaded, short-tempered, impulsive, aggressive, and stubborn; often, sudden emotional outbursts and reactions overtake common sense!

Nation bio

Name: “Mountains of Home”

Leader: King Eodis, the self-proclaimed king of the **ivoths. He is an albino noble who believes to be the descendant of **ivoterion, the legendary first king of the **ivoterions, a race named after their king. Curiously, King Eodis is the opposite of most **ivoths, and tends to be calm and thoughtful. Standing at almost seven feet tall and muscular, white as snow, and having red eyes, he quickly became a popular figure, and many tribes and clans accepted him as their ruler, some believing that he is actually a reincarnation of **ivoterion.

(the two stars mean Gr)

Population: ~33,000

Races: **ivoths consist of several different races, however, they are only separable by the shape of their horns, but this was never something they cared about. As such, race is not an issue in their culture; the interbreeding of many different races over many generations generalised the race into a gray-colored species only varying by horns. They do not seem to have developed terminology for races.

Location: Mountainous northlands; the rugged highlands surrounding the equivalent of the Himalayas.

Capital: Stoneheart

Capital Description: A citadel in **ivothian standards, essentially a militarised city on the southern face of the equivalent of Mount Everest. The citadel is a mighty fortress made of granite, built to protect the king and his people. It is their only true city, and their greatest accomplishment. The castle is wedge-shaped as avalanches may pass the glaciers, intended to divert the rushing snow if it reaches the castle.

It has a second wall, arranged like a triangle so that it gets wider down the mountain, from the southern side of the castle, so that between the space of the inner and outer walls, are where the townsfolk live in stony homes built partially underground. About four thousand **ivoths live in Stoneheart.

Government: Monarchy; the king is the ruler, but tribes and clans often do whatever they want. Although most **ivoth chieftains accept Eodis as their king, they are commonly disobedient and disconnected to him, leaving the prospect of developing into a civilisation slow. In the wilderness, chieftains or warlords are the leaders of tribes and clans.

Economy: Most **ivoths barter and trade goods, such as food, jewellery, crystals, precious stones, precious metals, clothing, weapons, armour, tools, pelts, and so on, especially in tribal societies. Currency is in its infancy, and consists of coins made from copper (pennies), brass (dollars), iron and bronze (dozens of dollars), silver (hundreds of dollars), and gold (thousands of dollars).

Military: Most adults and adolescents are capable of becoming guerilla fighters if necessary. Tribal fighting is common, where leaders and their best warriors will fight to the death to settle disputes. Many fight with an emphasis on tackling, head-butting, goring or ramming with the horns, punching, stomping, and wrestling mixed with handheld weapons. They have no professional military training, and are limited to skirmishing clans instead of wars.

So far, only King Eodis has an equipped military, consisting of a thousand militiamen armoured in plate for the torso, thighs, upper arms and head, and armed with spears with an axe head beneath the spearhead (essentially a small halberd), swords, daggers, and round metal shields. Their armour and weapons are made from iron and bronze.

**ivoths have no cavalry, as they have not domesticated any animal, and the rugged, hilly terrain hinders cavalry. They have no knowledge of bows, slings or crossbows; they are grazers, foragers and gardeners most of the time.

Religion: Monotheism mixed with shamanism

Culture: Wild and free in their tribal nomadic lifestyle, **ivoths value family, strength, courage, and freedom. Violence is acceptable especially for punishing criminals. Males and females are expected to be fit and heroic.

History: **ivoths believe that their ancestors were the **ivoterions and their white-colored king, **ivoterion, whose people were named after him. According to legend, the unmarried religious ascetic King **ivoterion and his nation sought to find the Creator, and after searching the entire world guided by ancestral spirits, eventually found Mount Everest, which was a passage into the realm of the Creator. King **ivoterion was the only one who could climb the mountain, and ascended into the heavens; the descendants of those who failed are **ivot*s. It is said that every time the glaciers rumble or crack, it is because they still feel the aches and pains caused by the king’s climb. The **ivoths revere the mountain as sacred.

Other: **ivoths are omnivores, but usually eat vegetation. They’re somewhat isolated, but maybe a few tribes will venture beyond the fringes of the highlands someday. The Goeraks and Halfgiants may be potential enemies if met too often.

Nation Bio

Name: Balan Republic
Leader(s): Grand Councilor Arishem
Population: 800,000
Races: Humans
Location: Occupies the equivalent to modern Turkey, Iraq, and Iran.

Capital: Asindia
Capital Description: With a population of 80,000, Asindia is one of the larger cities on the continent. It's home to three dozen merchants' guilds and is a principal hub for trade in Western Karrus. Asindia was built in the time of the Balan Kings. The first of these, King Balan the Great, constructed a grand palace, the Second Sun, named for its extensive gilding and its signature golden dome. The palace still stands and serves as the seat of the government and the residence of the Council.

Similar splendor is observed in some of the other, older buildings, such as the High Temple to the Balan gods, still in service, as well as the Great Crypt that houses the Balan Kings of old, now preserved as a historical monument. Newer buildings can be just as large though far less glamorous. Thick stone walls ring the city, and they have never been breached. Well-maintained roads connect the city with the rest of the country.

The docks are filled with dozens of merchant ships, though a small naval fleet is stationed there as well.

Government: Constitutional republic, all landowners and any man who has served in the military can vote for government seats. Typically only members of aristocratic families run for election, though anyone who is eligible to vote and is over the age of 24 can run. The government is limited by a set of laws put in place by Jabez the Elder when he abolished the monarchy.

Balan is divided into regions, each ruled by an elected Governor. Cities and towns hold their own councils, headed by a City Overseer, essentially a mayor. The City Overseer answers to the Governor, who in turn answers to the ruling Council in Asindia.

The ruling Council in Asindia is divided into the Low Council and the High Council. The Low Council is made up of around two hundred representatives from the various regions, cities, and towns of the Republic. They are headed by the High Council, five councilors, also elected, from among the existing number. One of these is also elected as the Grand Councilor. The candidate with the most votes during an election becomes the Grand Councilor, while the four with the next most votes becomes his High Council. The Grand Councilor serves as the head of state and the de facto leader of the Republic. He can be checked by a majority in either the High Council or the Low Council.

Grand and High Councilors serve for a term of three years. Low Councilors serve for a term of four, as do regional Governors and most city Overseers. There is no legal limit on how often a Grand Councilor can run for re-election, though none have ever served for more than ten terms.

Economy: The Balan Republic runs on a capitalist system. Coinage is divided into tiers. At the bottom are copper pennies, called "Twigs." The next tier is silver coinage. A silver "Wolf" coin is worth twenty Twigs, while an "Owl" is worth fifteen. A golden "Angel" is worth a hundred Wolves. Most common people never see a golden Angel.

Military: 100,000 professional soldiers readily available across the Republic. Soldiers from the heart of the Republic are noted to be highly disciplined, while troops from border regions are often considered wild and unruly

Religion: The predominant religion in the republic is a polytheistic faith worshipping a pantheon of four gods. The Balan Kings were said to be blessed by the gods themselves. Religious tolerance was established when the government became a republic. Persecution of any individual for their religion is considered treason.

Culture: The Balan Kingdom heavily emphasized strength and skill at arms as what determined a man's worth. As time went on, diplomacy become more favorable than war. In the Republic era, warfare for the sake of displaying dominance was cast aside in favor of more intellectual pursuits.

In the older parts of the Republic, the martial culture of the Balan Kingdom still remains strong. The descendants of noble families still emphasize undying loyalty and train for a life of battle, as if they were still sworn to a King.

Music and art have recently risen in popularity in the cities. The Balan religion has slightly lost influence after religious tolerance was established by the Republic. Slavery and polygamy are illegal.

History: According to legend, the Balan Kingdom was founded by Balan the Great, the descendant of human adventurers who ventured to the western end of Karrus. He constructed the Second Sun and united tribes to drive beasts, demons, and monsters out of their territory. He was crowned by the gods themselves after driving the last evils from his realm.

His sons and grandsons expanded his kingdom, gaining more land and power with each generation. It is unknown when exactly Asindia was constructed, and there are multiple tales claiming to tell its origins. The prevailing theory is that it was constructed by King Bail the Builder when he conquered a petty Dwarven kingdom and used their gold to decorate his halls.

The Kingdom saw many wars and rebellions, most ending with a royal triumph. Some brought the kingdom close to defeat. But eventually, when the ruling King died in battle with no living sons, a succession conflict ensued. His named heir was his young nephew Jadel. Jadel's father was brother to the late King's wife and a respected advisor to the King, but he was an old and infirm man who was too weak to lend support. However, the King also had a young and beautiful daughter, who was popular at court and greedy for power.

Eventually the supporters of both claimants went to war, almost tearing the kingdom apart. Both claimants died, as well as most of the nobility.

In the wake of such chaos and destruction, Jadel's father Jabez was roused from his deathbed and took control at the capital. He abolished the monarchy entirely and brought about many reforms in his new republic. He lived for another ten years of peace and prosperity, and his new form of government was embraced and accepted, the new Balan Republic was back at full strength soon after, and grows stronger still.
