bow before losing sight of them behind the foliage. Elyssa kept moving, slowly, calculating. She watched her footsteps closely, making sure to step toes down and only shift her weight when she was sure no or only slight sound would be made.
Elyssa kept her eyes out for the berry.
"Tracking a deer is fine and all but what are the chances that during this battle a deer will be out looking for food?"
Elyssa heard a snap behind her and turned her body to face it, but nothing was there.
"You must be the beast the rest of the forest is afraid of. So what are you? A bear? A Wolf?"
She remained still with her arrow at the ready for a few moments before continuing on.
"I will not be apart of your cat and mouse game."
Elyssa came to a stream that wound its way through the various trees and brush. Towards the right, a dam was being built. Elyssa watched as a few beavers steadily traversed the current, adding twigs to the growing stack. She looked across the stream, maybe 5-6 feet in diameter and noticed a couple of tracks in the mud.
"Maybe?"
Elyssa sighed.
"I didn't want to get wet today."
She looked around and saw a tree breaking over the water. It was large enough to support her weight.
She sheathed her bow across her back and began to climb. She slowly made her way up the trunk and was soon hanging over the water. She braced herself and stood, keeping her balance easily. Elyssa jumped and pushed off the tree, landing smoothly and gracefully in a crouch on the other bank of the stream. She stood up and approached the tracks, noticing correctly that they were in fact, deer tracks.
"Okay, So I'm not following a deer, but the tracks.."
She noticed that they made their way deeper into the forest and cast one last look towards the now abandoned dam, noticing the missing beavers, before disappearing into the trees.
