Edits:
[20/12/2009 From Clan Chat]
In that a crossbow's flight making a speech to itself is not an easily understood element, I've replaced this reference with something that might make more sense to my audience.

[21/12/2009]
Lots of edits on the first post. Making an attempt to better bring out the shock and breakdown of Murushk.

[26/12/2009]
Brother Drew's early dialog replaced with easier to read english rather than the phonetic dialects I was attempting.

[29/12/2009]
Attempted to make interplay on the boat to Entrana more understandable. Several other changes.

If you see other things that need work please let me know either here or in clan chat, thanks!

A short note and a thanks to all who might review:

There is a kinship in an old library.

A tactile relationship spanning the decades and centuries between the volumes and their readers.

That quaint musty smell that can stir alternately a buzz of excitement o'er some "curious volume of long forgotten lore" ... or a fit of sneezing.

And then there is that favored volume.

The one whose home is on that "less dusty" shelf.

Frequently it finds its way to some other corner of the house; beside a bed, next to the toilet, on the arm of that favorite reading chair with the old brass lamp nearby.

I've collected a few books in my time here.

I know what I like.

As does everyone I suspect.

I like a tale told in a way that makes it come to life for me.

I want to -feel- it.

I'm not reading to donate my blood tithe upon the keen edge of punctutation, grammar or spelling.

I'll try not to overly describe a story to the extent that it looks more like an explosion at a thesaurus publishing house than a good tale.

If that's your "thing", have at it, man.

Bleed all over those magnetic edges.

But all I really want to know is:

Do you like the story so far? (yes/no)
If not, why?

-and-

Even if you DID like it; How can I make it better?

Thanks,

-=[{ Resoun }]=-
Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Feel free to stop by my clan chat if you should see me on. I'd love to discuss plots and ways to make the story better.

Welcome to the Official Thread of the "Welcome to Lumbridge" event!

If you are reading this, you most likely have followed our directions on how to find a thread in the forums.

Congratulations!

You have accomplished something that will serve you well for the rest of your RuneScape career. Here in the forums you will find useful game information, resources, and a large community of dedicated fans of the game.

Since November of 2003 the forums have been here to assist the players in an ever changing variety of text based interaction. Over the years many additions have been made to the way the forums work. In the next few posts we intend to cover the basics.

== Logging in
====+ About Logging In
Even though you have made it to forums you probably are not technically "logged in" to them. Jagex provides the forums as a separate and distinct part of the game. As such the servers that retain your account identification information are also separate and distinct. This means that even if you are logged into the game you will have to also log in to the forums separately to post.

If you don't intend to post, logging in to the forums is not needed to read the publicly available posts.

====+ How To Log In
Logging in to the forums could not be easier. Simply click on the green "Log In" button on the top menu bar while in the forums, fill in the appropriate access credentials and you will be logged in.

====+ Important Notes about The Forums
If you are on a non-member account you will be told "Only members or qualifying free players can post on the Forums. You can still access and view the Forums, but you will not be able to post.".

The rule for being a "qualifying free players" is that you must have a total skill level of 350 or over. Your total skill level can be found in game by clicking on the histogram (looks like a series of coloured,vertical lines stacked next to each other) icon and looking in the box to the extreme bottom right. Your skill level will steadily increase as you continue to play the game and accomplish objectives, engage in combat, or practice various skills as you learned in the tutorial.

== Searching
====+ Searching: Entering a Query
One of the most often asked questions about the forums is "How do I search through them?".

Many people mistake the input box area to the right of the "search threads" link as being the actual search text area. In fact this is what is referred to as the "QFC" (Quick Find Code) input box. To find this post you most likely used this box to input our "QFC".

To actually search the threads you need to click directly on the "Search Threads" text. This is a link that will take you to the search query menu. Here you can make selections to narrow or broaden your search by using the various drop down menus. Input your search text in the "Search thread titles for" text box at the top and press the "Search" button below and your search will be processed.

====+ Searching: Examining Results

After pressing the search button you will be shown the results of your search. The page may initially appear to be empty of results as it re-displays your prior search parameters. Simply scroll further down the page to see your results.

Results are scored by relevance to all terms entered as indicated by the tiny sword graphic found to the far left of each result displayed. The relevancy scale is from 1 to 5 based upon how many of your search terms were found on that page.

Next presented is the thread title. This is in the form of a link. "Links" are made of text or images that (when you place the cursor or arrow from the mouse over them and "click&quot ;) can open another web page. In this case clicking on it will open the linked page in the same window you are currently in.

[Tip: With most modern browsers (the thing you are most likely using to read this page) you can open links in a separate "tab". Doing so with a linked search result allows you to keep your search results open in one tab while examining each link to see if it meets your expectations in the other tab.]

Next is presented a link to the actual forum category in which the link on that line was found. Here you may be able to browse and find similar threads by title that may not have initially had the same search terms you provided but may be still relevant to what you are looking for.

Next is the date the last message was posted in this thread.
Using this you can see if a thread is current and likely more relevant.

Finally, on the line under each linked result is the first line of text from the indexed post. This may give you a better indication if the thread meets your needs.

== Fun Areas in The Forums
The forums are FULL of various fun areas. Below is but a small
selection of some of the titles to be explored:
Skills (For help with particular skills),
Guides (The place for all player written game related guides)
Compliments (Chat with Jagex staff and tell them what you like)
Constructive Criticism (Feedback and discussion)
Rants (Tell Jagex what you don't like)
Teamwork (Team up with other players for activities)
Events (Organize and attend in-game events)
Stories (Post your fictional stories about RuneScape here)
Forum Games (Start your own or play an existing forum game)
Recruitment (Looking for a clan? Post in this section to find a clan)
Marketplace (Buy and sell all manner of items in this section)
The Mystery Word for Today's WTL is "hammer"
