Hey!
I can't tell you how glad I am to see you back! XD It's nice to know someone's been reading, since I haven't seen anyone post in weeks...that's why I've been focusing more on my other story.
I think I have time to write today, so hopefully I'll come up with at least a short add.
^_^ Welcome back.

Justine swallowed, keeping her eyes locked on the ground in deference. “Of course, my Lord,” she murmured.
The Prince’s hand moved from her arm and touched her jaw lightly, tilting her head so that she could see his stunning blue eyes. “Don’t be afraid of me,” he teased lightly. “It’s all right, I won’t bite.* She nodded wordlessly, too startled to say anything. She was afraid of she opened her mouth, only garbled nonsense would come out. The way he was studying her face, brow creased, made her heart pound. “You look familiar,” he said finally. “Do you come here often?”
Nodding, she admitted, “I used to. My father works for his Majesty.”
Recognition dawned across his handsome features. “Ah, I see now. You look like him – you’re Lord Val’Myran’s daughter, yes? Justine?” She nodded again, secretly stung. She wished she bore no resemblance at all to that awful man.
“So why don’t you come here as often as you used to?” he asked, smiling again.
“There’s nothing for me here,” she replied honestly, then clapped her hand to her mouth. “Forgive, my Lord, that was rude—“ she bowed her head, wishing she could hide the guilty flush from her cheeks. He only laughed.
“Not at all. Though please, elaborate. Come.” He gestured for her to follow as he began to walk down the gravel path deeper into the maze of roses. Justine did*’t hear or see him, though, for she was caught up in the swirl of another memory.
It was only a few months before, and he looked just as she remembered him – tall, curly brown hair, dark brown eyes. His fingers twined through hers, he moved backward down the path, pulling her along with him. He was grinning widely, tugging at her arm as she held back.
“Lucas, where are you taking me?”
“It’s not far, I promise!” he insisted. “Come on!”
“No.* She dug her heels in. “I’m cold.”
“Wimp,” he mocked, and let go of her hand to squat down on the snow-covered ground. His gloved hands swept across the surface, scooping snow into a tight, round ball.

“Oh, no * Lucas – don’t you dare!” but it was too late. She had no time to react as the snowball hit her square in the chest, knocking her a few steps backwards. “You’re going to get it now!* she warned, laughing, and raced to make her own snowball as he constructed another. Within minutes, it was all out war between the two of them. They chased each other through the labyrinth of paths, flinging snow at each other, taking cover behind the tall bushes and gray marble benches. Lucas was eluding her, weaving artfully between the snow-laden plants, and she couldn’t hit him. Justine gave up and sprinted faster. Lucas, though not the most athletic of young men, could have easily outrun her had he not slipped on a hidden patch of ice. As he wobbled for balance, she bowled into him, knocking them both breathlessly into a snowbank with a shriek.
He broke her fall, grabbing her arms and holding her on top of him. His hot breath misted across her face in the frigid air. For a moment they simply stared into each other’s eyes before she whispered, “Got you.”
He laughed, shaking his head as he leaned upward to kiss her. They stayed like that for a few moments before he pulled away, reaching up behind him to pull something off one of the bushes and causing a flurry of snow to shower down across her head. As they sat up together, he held out his hand. “Happy Saint Valentine’s Day,” he whispered, kissing her cheek. She gasped as she saw the rose he held in his hand, its curved petals rimmed with frost, the crimson made brighter by its contrast to the white snow all around him.
“Lucas…” she breathed, embracing him and burying her face in the crook of his shoulder. “Thank you!”
“Justine?”
She swore into his jacket, then reluctantly pulled away. “I’m sorry, Lucas.”

“It’s fine,” he said, but she saw the crestfallen look in his eyes as he helped her to her feet.
“Justine!” her father yelled again.
“Justine?” She staggered free of the memory, suddenly staring at the Prince, not Lucas, and felt a stab of disappointment. “Are you all right?”
“I – yes, my Lord. Pardon me – I – I have to go. My father will be wondering where I am,” she explained lamely. She couldn’t spend another minute here in this castle. The palace might have belonged to the man before her, but she saw only Lucas’ presence within its walls. The memories leapt out at her from behind the rose bushes, grabbed at her from beneath the benches. She couldn’t take it any longer. “I’m sorry,” she pleaded, then turned on her heel and fled down the path toward the gate.

Sorry it's not much...I tried to get going and realized I have some serious writer's block with this story. I have long-term ideas, but can't seem to figure out how to get there. I'll try to keep the story from going nowhere while I figure it out....
