Detention - who liked detention? Nobody, that was the whole point. If people enjoyed it then it wouldn't be a punishment. Still, did that make it fair that she had to share the punishment? Not in the slightest.

Shame it was part of her job.

She sat at the head of the classroom behind her desk with a book idly opened, eyes glancing over the pages in an irritated attempt to pass the time. Two hours of detention? It was as much a pain for a teacher as it was for the students. She wasn't supposed to make it obvious to them, but she wasn't supposed to do a lot of things - like be here in the first place. She wasn't supposed to be on detention duty today, but that old bag Hanslow hadn't shown up so she'd been roped into taking over. Great start to a friday evening.

Occasionally she would glance up to check on the few students stuck along with her, more for the sake of keeping up appearances than any actual attempt at stopping them from interacting - quiet chatter was near impossible to miss without the background noise of hundreds of students marching around. They had all long since headed home, and here the group of them were stuck for another 40-ish minutes. Letting them go early was an option, but she'd been caught out doing that too many times already. Better to just grit her teeth and-

A muffled thump from somewhere outside of the room halted her train of thought. She raised her head and glanced at the ajar door, listening for nothing in particular before starting to turn back-

Again a noise, this time a louder clattering noise - sounding like a series of relatively large objects hitting the floor in the hallways. One of the janitors had probably knocked something over. With a sigh she rose from her seat and headed for the door, noting some of the curious gazes from the students.

" Don't even think about leaving - you step out and it's another three days. "

With that warning the students watched their history teacher, Miss Blackwell, step out and shut the

door with a click, the shadow of her form disappearing from the hazy window somewhere down the hallway. Nearly as soon as she was presumably out of earshot voices would likely raise to a more normal volume, phones would come out and groans of boredom would be shared. Still, three extra days of this? Not worth it when there was less than an hour to go.

Minutes passed without any sign of Miss Blackwell's return, the students hearing nothing at all with the door now closed - until after around five minutes when the echo of rapid footsteps making their way to the classroom reached them. Phones may or may not have reached pockets in time for the door to burst open quickly enough for it to swing around and slam against the side of the filing cabinet kept behind it with a loud crash. Miss Blackwell stood in the doorway, her appearance disheveled as she supported herself with a hand on the frame - her breathing hurried, eyes wide but focused, and wet scarlet staining her formerly crisp white shirt.

For a second shocked silence, giving her the moment she needed to speak - clearly, and deathly serious.

" We're leaving... Now! "

I'm getting straight into it with this one, friendos. One late-winter friday afternoon you're stuck in detention at (high school) for something you did or didn't do, when everything goes to shit. You don't know exactly when it happened, how it happened, or why it's happening, but what may well be the god damn apocalypse has come.

You and your lowly band of high schoolers (plus your history teacher!) have to band together to survive the monsters coming for you and everyone else, running, fighting and figuring out what has happened. What you see shouldn't be possible, but if it's true then where can you go to escape it? If you even can...

But what else may come you have no idea, but for now the damned come to devour your flesh.
