Raphael closed his eyes, letting out a lamentful sigh. "News has spread quickly of other... grim things," Raphael stated, his right hand pointing towards Daevarro. "The Governanti Resistance is no more, and this young man here is the only one to have survived the attack."

A silence of sadness shrouded the crowd, a hopelessness engulfing them. "Let us mourn their loss," Raphael said, then his very strong and hardened eyes reemerged from the darkness. "But let us also remember all of them, their wills and their lives. Now that they're gone, who can speak and stand up for them? Who can fight and believe in this for them? The responsibility of their hopes, dreams, their very existence , rides upon us. And as we carry on, we must remember to never forget, to never back down. Freedom is right in front of us, and all we must do is continue to prove to it that we truly do desire it back."

Raphael gazed back down upon Daevarro, extending his right hand out in front of him. It reached for the dark-robed young man, an offer to bring him to a rise. "This is why we fight," said Raphael, continuing on with his speech. "It is to remind all those, both alive and dead, that as long as we draw breath, we will stand up and rise. It is to show that we may fall, but we will never falter. We must show them our determination, our wills that cannot be stopped. Let us make them see their faults, their prideful arrogance. Let us make them realize the truth, that the will of many can overcome the power of a few. We can make them realize that power isn't everything, that they are just as human as we are. With the winds that carry our swords and with the will that carries us up, we will fight to show them this truth... even if we must sully our hands with blood. We are the Lumbridge Resistance, those who fight to right wrongs; to take back that life of peace and equality. Rise, Daevarro... It is time for you to stand, not defeated but triumphant."

Despite the previous feelings towards him, the crowd cheered and celebrated his initiation. Many of the knights launched one of their arms up into the air, letting out a roar of valor and pride. It was hard to hear anything within all of this shouting, but the young Daevarro gazed up upon the face of the leader. Raphael had a serious yet strangely lighthearted expression upon his face as his hand stood extended out to Daevarro.

The dark-robed young man reached his pale-skinned hand for the rope, grasping onto it tightly. Raphael pulled Daevarro up to his feet, symbolizing that one shall no longer bow to any man; that no man is superior here. Daevarro stood face to face with the young leader, who confidently smiled at him. "On the behalf of the entire Resistance, I welcome you to our cause." Raphael told the young man. "It's good to have you here, Daevarro."

Daevarro bowed his head. "T-thank you very much, Master Raphael," he thanked the leader. The doors into the castle then suddenly opened up as the ceremony was becoming a celebration. Everyone heard this coming, gazing back towards the doors. Everyone, but especially Elena, was surprised to see the ones coming in.

It was Uriel and Soter, stepping through the double doors and into the entrance room, where all gathered. Everyone went silent, so happy to see the young boy once more. Uriel shuffled his head all around, seeing everyone looking at him. "So," he spoke, breaking the silence. "what'd I miss?"

Elena appeared so happy to see the young boy with the arm cloak return here, well and alive. She rushed over to him, quickly throwing her arms around the boy. "Uriel!" she shouted.

Uriel seemed taken back by this, but he let out a smile as she hugged him. "Geez..." he said. "Missed you too, sis." As the reunion between the brother and sister came to be and the sounds of those celebrating with rejoice, something gripped the messenger, Soter. It was a strong, abnormal presence, almost sickening.

His green eyes followed and found its source, leading directly for the newest member of the Lumbridge Resistance: Daevarro. It was a thick, hateful, enraged miasma... one that Soter found most concerning. The celebration and the world around Soter turned into a single picture, freezing completely still as his furious eyes gazed upon Daevarro. "This presence..." muttered Soter to himself, realizing that the feeling was all too familiar. "It's the same as Lamia's. Could it be...?"

He stared blankly, watching Daevarro as Elena and Uriel walked over to him. The young man nervously extended his right hand out to Uriel, his mouth moving but no words coming out. There was absolutely no sound at all to the messenger, continuing to stare at Daevarro staggering his way into a conversation.

As thoughts ran through Soter's head, Uriel turned towards him. "Hey!" he shouted over to Soter, breaking through to the messenger. "You all right?"

Soter closed his eyes and sighed, letting go. He slowly walked over to the group. "My apologies," he quickly said. "I was... preoccupied there for the moment."

Daevarro gazed up at the sky-high titan, extending his right hand out in front of him. "M-my name is Daevarro," he introduced himself to Soter. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."

Soter grabbed onto Daevarro's right hand, giving it a nice and firm handshake. "I am Soter Vertius Sera, envoy of the Elder Gods." Soter returned the favor, introducing himself to Daevarro. His lush, green eyes then gazed upon Raphael. "Raphael, I would like to make a request."

Raphael seemed interested, curious as to what Soter wanted from him. His left eyebrow rose, crossing his arms. "What is it?" the young leader asked.

"It is my duty to protect Uriel," said Soter, letting go of Daevarro's hand and turning to Raphael. "If I may, I would like to be with the Resistance."

Raphael saw that it seemed to be more than just a order that Soter had to obey, just by the way the man requested. Raphael smirked, shaking his head. "Sure," he permitted.

Soter leaned his torso forward, bowing to the silver-haired young man. "Thank you," he gratefully spoke.

Raphael then turned to his men, raising his arm out into the air. "C'mon!" he shouted. "It's time to celebrate! Today, we welcome two new members to our cause!"

As the soldiers cheered, delighted by this morale boast, something more brewed. Soter's verdant gaze took hold once more of the dark-robed young man. It almost appeared like an intense glare of sorts, bearing down upon the young man. "I must be careful," stated Soter to himself.

Only two weeks later, but…

“Beside that pathway, a tranquil garden. It was blessed with strange flowers that appeared encased in crystal, coming in a multitude of colors. They glowed vibrantly, shining a light in any darkness.”
Hunh, in story I’m working on right now, taking place in a cloud-world, all plants are depicted with glass-like properties, especially a scene with a garden of the citadel. I like coincidences.

Uriel seems to have appeared in a heavily world of gods, called Salutraisdjasibrhfauiryqa (I may not have had remembered it very well).

Archer sees Raphael, ensues some talking, back to Uriel who meets his true parent, snow, censor issue bypassed, goes back to real world, Soter (does he appear in an earlier story?) must defend Uriel. I hope Uriel and Soter die.

Well, looks like not much to say this. Till next time then.

Chapter 16: To Know is to Know Nothing

A word at a time, his eyes speeding through the sentences. Ancient tongues that have been all forgotten; an time-tested, wrinkled face whose back had burdened all the many years. He forsook reality, finding himself in an imaginary utopia fit to be called Eden. He couldn't care less about what went on around him, his steely gaze gaining a firm grasp upon those inked words.

Beneath him, a thumping ground that felt as though a very large hammer were pounding at the very earth. He hid behind a wall, the only solid wall that withstood the flames that burned down the town of Lumbridge. He sat upon grass soaked with dried blood, a ground with a beaten past. His back hunched, his legs knotted like a bow-tie.

Then the presence of another penetrated this placidity, ripping from this genius his momentary bliss. "Telvern," the person named, drawing the genius from his focus upon his studies. His stoic brown eyes glanced upwards, his wings clipped as he tumbled back down to terra firma. He then felt a glare of light hit him straight in the eye, a silver-haired figure looking down upon him.

The genius appeared somewhat bewildered, thrown back into this lost paradise. He put up a farce, an empty smile to greet the young leader he had grown to enjoy. "Ahh... Raphael!" the genius exclaimed. "How good to see you!"

In the background, a giant of steel lifting large beams of wood and settling down in place. The young man that engaged Telvern seemed to have one too many questions hanging at the end of his tongue. Evidence stacked up like a deck of cards, it was clear to see that Raphael didn't appear to be happy to see Telvern as he appeared to see Raphael.

"Something's been bothering me ever since the day we met." Raphael recollected, bringing up a year-old wonder of his. "You mentioned something -- or rather, someone -- to me. How is it that you know her?"

"Oh, Master Malik would bring her up occasionally."

Raphael shook his head. "That's not all you know," he firmly believed. "You knew her, I know you did."

"I'm afraid I have no idea what you mean," the genius denied.

Raphael knelt down, his eyes growing with intensity. "You said that I have "her eyes,"" he quickly stated. "How could you have come to that conclusion if you've never met her?"

Telvern's face shuffled, quickly becoming one to ponder. He then appeared to have no neck, jerking his shoulders upwards. "A good guess, perhaps?" he threw out an explanation. "You know me! I like to—"

That was enough of the run-around, Raphael firmly believed. He quickly lunged his right arm forward, his hand hooking the genius' collar. He gripped the soft cloth, ruffling and wrinkling the upper portion of his doublet. Raphael's eyes beamed down like a judge upon this man. So very close up now was he to Raphael, he was able to make out even the smallest details of those eyes that belonged to a woman mentioned long ago.

"I'm not playing anymore with you," Raphael angrily asserted to the genius. "Tell me what I want to know, Telvern. How do you know my mother?"

Telvern paused, a silence between the two then erupted. But a trade of glances was born, an tense stare-down. After a half of a minute, it ended in a frustrated sigh. "Momus told you, huh?"

"He told me a lot more," he revealed. "Now, if you don't want what he told me to be proven correct, I suggest you tell me everything that you know."

"...I don't know a lot," the genius claimed, his voice like a man with stage fright put onto that place that he feared. "What I do know is that she was -- and maybe perhaps still is -- a member of the Desert Assassins. I used to be a member of them, and I knew her there. The only reason I knew that she was your mother was because of Master Malik. You were still with the Ruler's Counsel at the time when he told me about you."
