Regardless of what his instincts told him, he threw caution to the wind and charged forward. That would be his last mistake... a dagger met him as he turned. It impaled him right through the stomach, ripping open a pathway of destruction right on through his body. Melanthus' face froze, shocked by this sudden change of events.

As blood began to pour from his mouth, his eyes then looked up at whoever it was that would take his life. There, young Anabel stood there with the handle of the dagger clenched in her right hand. She was saddened, taking the life of a person. She then sighed, pulling out her dirk-like dagger out. "I'm sorry to do this," she mumbled to the knight.

He stood there with a breathless expression, not having the ability to think for a moment. He was too busy thinking about the injury inflicted upon him, and the life he was about to lose. Holding the dagger so that the blade pointed forward, Anabel then lunged the dagger upwards. The blade was then injected underneath of his chin, shooting right through into his brain.

Blood rolled down the dagger in his head, dipping from the cross-guard and onto Anabel's wrist. She then quickly recoiled her dagger back to her side, tearing it out of Melanthus' head. The knight then dropped to his knees, the light fading away from his glowing irises. Anabel then looked behind her, gazing upon Daevarro who was pressing his back against the wall.

She smiled, impressed by Daevarro's interesting powers. "So, you can conjure up shadows?" she curiously asked, her voice hushed. "That's pretty amazing, Daevarro."

"I-it's nothing, really..." he nervously replied.

Anabel's serious expression then reappeared, turning her head back forward. "C'mon, let's go," she said, the two then began to quietly make their way down the hallway. Each step was carefully planned and taken, being sure not to make anymore noise. Finally reaching the end of the hallway, Anabel very sluggishly cracked the door open.

Her eyes took a small peek, seeing that the room was clear. She then very carefully pushed the door open, keeping her hand right beside her dagger in case it's needed. The two then began to move into the room, their ears catching the voices of the two siblings as they rung across the room. Inside the throne room, the two quickly hid behind the cover of one of the pillars placed in the room.

Daevarro's hazel eyes then peered around the pillar, the king and princess were so focused on each other that they didn't notice the two coming in. Anabel's eyes stood still on the archer, her eyes widened when they saw the grisly wound that she had sustained. "Miss Elena..." she quietly gasped. "She's... a god?"

The dark-robed young man's eyes settled down upon the back of the king. He stared upon the image of a winged lion on Balor's cape. Then his eyes saw the crown that he wore, implying that he was indeed the king of Governanti. A seething rage then awakened within Daevarro, a beast that couldn't be caged anymore.

Anabel heard the rancor, the angry mutters from under Daevarro's lips. She then turned to him, and saw a completely different person. Anabel saw the wrath that roared from his eyes, his teeth fastened together. She was taken aback, shocked by this sudden change. "D-Daevarro?" she named with a worried stutter.

The young man's eyes just continued to stare directly at Balor, and nothing could change that. He was a keg of dynamite ready to explode, and that moment was just a breath away. This was perfect, Balor had no idea that they were there. Forgoing his place to hide, Daevarro bolted forward as fast as he could. Anabel's heart then skipped a beat, reaching her hand out in front of her. "Daevarro, wait!" she quietly shouted.

Just as this move had been made, a tightness and apprehension then sunk inside Balor. The king then quickly spun, readying himself for whatever as he did. Then came in the dark-robed young man, wielding his dagger in a reversed position. Holding his dagger up, once he came in close he lunged it downward. Balor quickly grabbed onto the young man's wrist, stopping him in his tracks. Balor then kicked his right foot forward, kicking Daevarro away from him.

Daevarro was sent flying backwards about ten feet from where he stood, hitting the ground hard on his back. His dagger landed just a few inches from his head, spinning as it slid to its new location. Anabel quickly bolted with worry from her location and over to Daevarro, kneeling down next to him. "Daevarro," she swiftly named. "are you okay?!"

Elena seemed surprised by Anabel's sudden appearance, and the sudden violent appearance of this young man she's never met before. Balor took a step forward, gazing with intrigue down upon Daevarro's attire. "Interesting," he said. "I didn't think there were any of you left."

Anabel quickly jumped onto her feet, drawing her daggers to prepare for battle. "Where's Uriel!?" she yelled in a demanding tone.

Balor then sheathed his blade. "Gone, as it would appear," the king then answered. "he's with the Elder Gods now."

"The Elder Gods...?" she repeated Balor. "...You mean like the ones who were said to have created this world?"

"Indeed, the very same," Balor confirmed. "But we all know such things are figments of silly fables."

"What would they want with him!?" the ex-assassin then quickly questioned.

"You could say in a sense that he is 'property' of theirs," he responded. Daevarro then sluggishly got to his knees, the rage in his eyes would intimidate even the most valiant of warriors. His glare threw daggers at Balor, who seemed to take notice. The king then grasped his hand around the handle of his sword, his dazzling sapphire blue eyes callously gazed down at the young man.

The pain, the anger, the complete hatred for the man before him then kicked in once more. Daevarro then swung his left hand out in front of him, a source of heat then began to build in front of the palm of his hand. A small blast of fire then was chucked from his hand and headed straight towards Balor. He then quickly drew his blade and swung it at the incoming fireball.

In this moment, Daevarro quickly rushed over to his lost dagger. He attained it once again, grasping his hand around it tightly. He then rushed forward, charging towards Balor as fast as he could. The ball of flames was then sliced in half, dissipating as the heat blew across Balor's face. The light of the fire reflecting from his eyes, an intense expression that warranted seriousness.

The last embers of this fire swerved all throughout the air, brushing just by Balor's head. The Arbandor had smoke pouring out from where it touched the ball of fire, though it seemed just the same as it was before. At this instance, Daevarro jumped into the air. With a gleam appearing like a small star upon his night-black dagger, the dark-robed young man fell down upon Balor.

The king then skirted to the left, the young man falling literally right next to him. The dagger's tip impaling into the carpet, tearing a flesh wound. Daevarro quickly flipped his dagger around, it now faced a frontal position as if he were wielding a sword. He then quickly turned towards Balor, raising to his feet. His dagger followed, its final destination was the king's throat.

But it seemed to hit a stump, a flat-tire in a sense. Balor's hand quickly grasped upon the young man's wrist, stopping the dagger just before it reached where it was headed to. Daevarro pushed with all of his might to break through Balor's grip, but the king was just too strong for him. The struggle was plain to those around, his hand and dagger both quivering as he tried his very best.

The very cocky expression then returned upon Balor's face. "How did it feel, boy? Hmm?" asked the king, his voice somewhat quiet. "Were you scared? Were you terrified the moment you heard the screams of those pathetic fools?" Those words he had spoken just made Daevarro put that much more effort into his attempts.

The king had noticed this increased effort. But still, these amped up attempts weren't enough to break Balor's grasp. The young man seethed with fury, incredibly frustrated that he couldn't get through. The king's eyes then looked back, staring upon the spare blade Daevarro had yet to unleash. "Come on," said Balor very calmly, his eyes then returned to the dark-robed young man. "you have that blade right there on your back and a free hand to take it. If you pull it out, you could just so easily kill me... Come on, I'm wide open."

Daevarro's free hand shook, his hand wanting to pull out to his blade. But alas, he just couldn't bring himself to do as Balor suggested. Then that sixth-sense kicked in, the intense pressure and alert that drove the king to break a sweat. He quickly turned his head to his left, seeing the young ex-assassin beginning to charge at him.

Balor then just casually tossed Daevarro in that direction, he headed straight for Anabel. She quickly reacted to this change, throwing her arms up to protect herself and Daevarro. She closed her eyes and braced for the impact. But she never felt it, peeking her eyes through a small gap in between her arms. She saw a bloody teal blue coat in front of her.

She reeled in her arms, no longer taking the defensive position. She saw Elena, Daevarro held in her arms. Anabel looked at the archer, grateful for her assistance. "Miss Elena!" she named.

"Balor," calmly named Elena, anger shook just below the surface. She then began to place Daevarro down back on his feet. "you need to stop this."

Balor's expression returned to the serious, stern face he had previously worn. He saw his sister's choice: to defend those that the Imperial Kingdom of Governanti stood against. Balor's face dropped, becoming saddened once more. "So, you truly are going to stand beside that rabble and not with your own brother!?" he questioned once more.

"Yes," she replied, shaking her head once as confirmation. "I can't allow Governanti to continue their oppression upon these people. I've seen it all too many times, humans being brought down, broken, losing all that they love to us. And all we can do is point and laugh, calling them whatever we can come up with. Until that attitude changes, I will always side with them."

Balor withdrew his blade as he heard his sister speak to him. His eyes closed, he let out a sigh. His emotionless eyes then turned back onto his sister, she seemed hell-bent on getting through to him. "Very well, Lucia..." the king mumbled, acknowledging that her heart reinforced her words. "If that's what you beli—"

A knight then rushed into the throne room. "Your Majesty, Lord Me—" the knight was saying until he saw the two others in the room. He quickly grabbed onto the handle of his sword, readying for a fight.

Balor raised his left hand to about the height of his neck. "Relax yourself, soldier," he advised the knight. "They were just here to talk."

"B-but my lord," said the knight. "Lord Melanthus! H-he's... he's been assassinated!"

"I was going to have him killed anyway," stated Balor, completely uncaring of the loss of the Orderer. "but it seems these people got to him before I could. So I suppose I owe them a favor."

Balor crossed his arms, glaring at the knight with earnest. "They shall be left untouched unless action is taken, is that clear?" he commanded.

The knight then stood straight, clenching his right hand into a fist, and placed it on the left side of his chest. "Yes, my lord!" responded the knight, confirming his command. The knight then ran off, leaving to tell the other knights of the order he had received.

Elena then turned around, facing Anabel. "Take him back to the base," she suggested. "and whatever you do, be careful from now on."

Anabel shook her head. "All right," she acknowledged. "Uh... thank you, Miss Elena."

The ex-assassin then turned towards Daevarro, who still couldn't keep his hateful eyes away from Balor. "Let's go," she said to him. But he was so distracted, overwhelmed by this fury and frustration that whatever she said fell upon deaf ears. She then grabbed onto his left shoulder. "Daevarro!"

He then jumped slightly, surprised by her reaction to him. He then turned, looking back at Anabel. It seemed like that person he was before then came back, the ire and resentment that consumed him was lifted almost like a curse. "O-oh, right," he replied, finally listening to Anabel. The two then make a dash, rushing out from the castle and back into the shadows.

Elena watched as the two disappeared before her very eyes. Once they were gone, Elena then turned her focus back on her brother. He was there, sitting upon his throne all by his lonesome. "Brother," she called. "this will be the last time I don't take any action against you. The next time I see you, I..."

"It's all right," he assured, catching the archer off-guard. He then sighed, letting out his sorrow once more. "If... this is what you want... then I suppose I can't fight it."

"Thank you," said the archer. "Goodbye." With that moment, she turned and began walking away from her brother. As much as he tried, he couldn't bring himself to say a simple word meaning the parting of ways to her. He sat there on his throne, watching as she shrunk smaller...

...Even smaller... fading away before his very eyes. And there was nothing he could do or say to cease her. He reached his hand out in front of him, an attempt in order to capture this firefly that flew in a straight line in front of his face. He grasped it with all his might. But no matter how much he tried, no matter how hard he held... the firefly always got away.

He was left alone, there in his throne... was the price worth it? This crown that he wore, the power that he wielded... was it worth losing all that he loved? Maybe one day he could convince his sister to stay, but she seemed very genuine about her feelings. There was no way he would win her back, that would require unwinding all that he had sewn together. She dissipated like a distant memory, leaving him only to himself.

This stolid king sat there, looking down at the ground. Nothing left to say, nothing left to do but wait... wait for the day he might finally be accepted once more by the only thing to ever matter to him. But at this moment, no matter how many tears he cried, she would not return to him. From a faraway echo, he heard the door into the castle open and close shut. She was gone... and there was nothing he could do.

She came out through those very gates that Daevarro and Anabel did just a short time ago, the same knights bowing with respect. She continued walking forward, cutting a path straight through into the market district. All alone, her mind played a song of memories. Whenever she and her family would travel through here, the bows and love of the people surrounding them.

Yes, what precious memories. Memories that she would eternally treasure in her heart. A wind brushed by her as her face was bathed in silver light. Her glowing eyes then looked up at the moon, reminiscing upon those days. As she was walking, she heard a familiar voice called out her name. She glanced over in that direction, seeing Raphael in a hooded cloak who appeared to be very shock.

He stared upon the wound she had suffered, looking up at her face and her now glowing irises. "Elena..." he mumbled. "...what the hell happened?"

She walked over to Raphael, somewhat surprised to see him here. "Don't worry about it," she told him, signalling to him it's all right. "Why are you here?"

While Raphael began to explain, Elena then turned her eyes to the left. She saw another hooded figure, it was Telvern. He was looking down at a book, reading about the history of the world. Knowing all that she did about him, she felt the urge to tell Raphael. "...And so, Telvern woke me up, he had made some teleportation tablets. And we came here to get you two back." Raphael finished explaining, then he rose his left eyebrow. "Where's Uriel anyway?"

Elena shook her head. "I don't know," she replied. "I just know he's with the Elder Gods now."

"Wait, what?" he asked, confused.

"Soter the Savior appeared and fought with Balor and his guards." Elena stated. "Then, when he knew he was in a losing battle, he grabbed Uriel and teleported out."

"Hmm..." pondered Telvern. "Perhaps Balor knows something about him that we don't. Elsewise, why have him captured?"

Elena gazed over at Telvern, her stare intensely focused. "Perhaps you could enlighten us on the subject." she then said, directly gunning for the genius.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I've no clue," he replied.

An obvious lie was told, Elena was able to catch it so cleanly. "Of course you don't," she then returned, angry by the flatout lie that Telvern just threw out to the two.

Raphael shuffled his eyes between the two, knowing that something was off. "Erm..." he said. "A-anyway! Uh, I think we'd best get going. We'll figure out everything once we get back to Lumbridge."

Elena then turned towards Raphael, shaking her head. "Right," she acknowledged.

Raphael looked upon Elena concerned. "Elena," he named, his voice flooded with worry. "are you going to be all right?"

She shook her head. "I'll be fine," Elena answered.

Raphael shook his head back at her. "All right," he said, turning around to face the way that he and Telvern came. "Let's be off then."

As Raphael began to walk away, Telvern flipped to the next page of his book. "We all know you didn't want to use your powers." the genius said. "What changed?"

"I was going to die if I didn't use them," she answered honestly, glaring over at him.

"So, you fear dying then?"

"No," she responded. "but if I died then my greatest fear would have been realized: the fear that I would let down the people that I care about the most."

"So, to counter this, you used your powers," continued Telvern. "Interesting... I thought you rejected all that made you a god."

"Sometimes you have to take advantage of the things that you hate."

Telvern closed his eyes, letting out a light smirk. "How very true," he thought, turning around to follow behind Raphael. He then began to walk forward, following just behind Raphael. Elena was slow in the pursuit, paused at a trail of thought. Why hasn't she called him out for it yet? She didn't know what to think about it, she assumed. So, she gave herself some time; to reflect upon what she had been told.
