Keril smiled, “It’s finally dead” he said to himself. Tilus let out a sigh, “Good thing too, I don’t think I could take much more of it” A low buzzing sound suddenly emitted from the bottom of the cliff. “There’s no way! It can’t be alive!” said Tilus nervously.

The Kalphite Queen was 100% alive, and it was in its second form, the wasp. She quickly shot out a poisonous liquid from the stinger. It fell onto the ground making the earth disintegrate at the very touch. Keril got out his Ancient Staff.

“Ice Blitz!" he shouted. The Kalphite Queen easily dodged the attack and shot forward. With each beat of her wings, the sound of an ominous end seemed to approach Keril. “Ice Blitz!* he shouted again. The queen was hit, but easily crushed the ice with her massive jaws. She landed on the ground sending dirt and dust flying into the air.

She let out a screech and Willo shot a javelin at her. The queen used her wings to beat the pesky stick away. “Elatus, turn into runite claws!” She immediately put her claws on and hoisted her off the ground. She swiped her arm in mid air and landed back on the ground. This attack barely scratched the surface of her wings. “I can’t use Celcius, Efreet, or even Illumination against this thing” said Willo to himself.

“Stall, I’ll try to get something” said Willo reading his book now. “You’d better hurry’ said Keril. “Or else we’re going to be breakfast” He batted the queen away like a base ball with his sword. Tilus had an idea and smirked, “Elatus, turn into a Kalphite!” The Kalphite approached the queen, getting closer to kill it. At first, the queen was into the fact that this was a worker, but, it did not carry the scent glands that the others did. The Kalphite Queen ripped the ‘Kalphite’ and revealed the sword.

“Any ideas?” said Tilus. “Blood Blitz!” shouted Keril shooting a beam at the ceiling. The Kalphite Queen took her stinger and crushed the falling rocks. "That was my last one”

Willo closed his book shut, “Come forth, Scylla the scourge of water!” A huge three headed beast appeared. All three heads had huge bared fangs, and the body was planted on to a giant rock. The heads looked at each other and then back at the Kalphite Queen. Willo fell to the ground for he had used up too much energy summoning this creature.
“The creatures that Willo can summon get weirder and weirder each day” said Keril gasping for breath. The beast known as Scylla was always angry, always on the prowl to kill. She set her heads forward and ripped the queen’s flesh. The Kalphite stammered and backed off. She shot out a toxic liquid form her abdomen. Scylla’s face was slowly burned, but she continued to arch her heads toward the Kalphite Queen.
“What is this creature?!” said Tilus. Willo managed to get up with the energy he had. “Scylla is something I figured that I could summon, this blade, Nemblim can summon almost anything I want it to summon. However, the stronger the thing I summon the more of a risk of…” Tilus and Keril looked back at Willo, “Risk of what?” Willo sighed, “A risk I could die. Nemblim is an ancient mythological weapon, it is said to have properties of great power, even power than rivals the gods” Keril smiled, “That’s a Devil’s Arm for you” Willo sighed, “There’s still so much I can learn, but life is so short” Tilus got up, “That’s why you want to spend every second wisely” she said with a grin.
Scylla shot its head at the queen again. Willo suddenly sank to the ground from exhaustion. Scylla slowly started to disappear. “What’s happening?” said Tilus. Willo managed to say a few words. “It takes up too much energy wielding Scylla. In the book, it says that if the summoner is not able to keep their energy, the summoned creature will leave. If the summoner dies, then…” Keril gulped, “Then so do all the summoned creatures” Willo smiled, “Exactly…”

“Are you okay Willo?! Please get up!” shouted Tilus frustrated. “It’s no good, he’s out cold” said Keril back. Tilus banged her fist on the ground, “He was the last hope we had!” Keril looked up and saw huge roots protruding from the ceiling. “Roots? Roots come from trees” Tilus sighed, “I don’t know what good that will do” Keril smiled, “You get in place and I’ll show you what good it’ll do”
Tilus stood out in the open, “Come on Kalphite! What are you waiting for?” There was a strange buzzing sound that was like a song. Tilus knew that many adventurers that had gone here would hear this song of the Kalphite Queen, it was usually the last thing they heard. They would be drawn closer until they finally were ambushed. Tilus blocked her ears and stood still, the music of the queen drawing closer.
The queen started approaching Tilus at an extremely quick pace. Her wings were beating extremely quickly now as the bug opened her giant pincer jaws. “Jump now! Ice Barrage!” shouted Keril. Tilus swiftly dodged the blow while Keril froze the queen. “Hope you know how to swim” he said pulling the root down as hard as he could from out of the ceiling. A huge waterfall of water gushed down the lair.
“Trees always use roots to get water. However, because it’s a desert, the only place a water source would be in…” Tilus smiled, “An oasis!” She ran up to Keril and helped him down, “Smart idea” she said with a grin. Keril softly kissed her on the neck and she giggled softly. Willo had finally got up and limped towards Keril. “Easy there Willo! You don’* want to pass out again?” he said setting him down on a rock and gave him a health potion. Willo wiped his mouth, “Thanks I needed that”
They left the wasp to drown in misery. Its antennas twitched as it squirmed a bit and curled up. Its eyes were succumbed by darkness and it stopped breathing.

Keril and Tilus slowly approached the carcass of the Kalphite. “Where’s the key?” said Willo anxiously. “I don’t know, is it supposed to be inside this?” said Keril confusedly. All of a sudden, a huge hairy black leg protruded from the Kalphite, “What is this?!” said Keril to himself backing off. This creature was nothing other than a spider. Drool went down its mouth as it searched for Kalphites to feed its appetite.
“How did a spider get in the Kalphite queen?!” said Tilus worried now. “Oh no…” Willo picked up what looked like a shell. “A giant spider must have planted the egg inside of the Kalphite Queen. The bloodstream of the Kalphite probably made one of spiders mutate at birth and…” He looked at the towering black arachnid, “It became overgrown and must have become just as powerful as the Kalphite Queen itself” said Keril.
The spider was almost as large as the Kalphite Queen. The arachnid pounced on the Kalphite Guardians as if they were mere snacks. Tilus shot an arrow at the huge spider “Want more eight eyes?” The spider let out toxic saliva and rushed towards Tilus. She quickly jumped out of the way and shot another arrow. However, this spider was not going to die like the ones in Varrock Sewers. He jumped over the arrow and bared its fangs.
The arachnid shot a stringy web and tied up Tilus. As she cut through, Willo and Keril jumped onto its back and stabbed it continuously. Their blows didn’t even make it past the exoskeleton. “Man! This thing is crazy!” said Keril to himself wiping the sweat off his face. “Ice Blitz!* he shouted. The spider sunk into a hole in the ground. It patiently waited for the next move.
The trio looked at the holes waiting for something to pop out at attack. “Where is it?!” said Tilus. However, the arachnid had found a different hole that lead from the ground, to the ceiling. Its drool dripped as it looked at its new meal. Its fangs sharpened as its legs slowly scurried down the hole.

The spider slowly let down a silky web down its thread. It carefully climbed down the web and bared its jaws behind Keril’s head. “Look out!” shouted Tilus pointing behind him. Keril turned around and jumped backwards, just barely able to dodge the blow of the arachnids jaw. It hissed and made a colossal leap to Willo. Willo jumped out of the way and shot a javelin at the spider.
The spider took its jaws and ripped the javelin out of its exoskeleton and spit it back on the ground. It tilted its head slightly and let out toxic saliva. “Ice Burst!” said Keril freezing the gooey substance into a frozen statue. The spider shot a web and Willo and started to bring him closer to its mouth. Willo tried cutting the web, but it just wouldn’t break. “Elatus, turn into a fire now!” She hoisted her torch up and burned the web.
She started to make the spider back off with the flame, the embers started to catch on to the plants, twigs, and roots. The spider was caught in a fiery inferno. With nowhere else to go, the spider ascended onto the ceiling. Willo and Keril smiled, “Smoke Barrage!” he shouted sending a huge layer of black fog everywhere. Willo jumped up onto the ceiling. He was barely hanging onto a root while he drew a circle in the ceiling above the spider.
When the beast saw the smoke was gone, it was too late. Willo had cut out a circle around the spider. It suddenly lost its grip and started falling. It landed on the ground, only to be crushed by the rock coming down at it. The spiders legs squirmed crazily, until they finally stopped. A silver key was shimmering in the distance and Tilus picked it up, “We got one of them”
There was a huge shake in the earth, “Let’s get out of here, earthquake’s coming!” shouted Willo reaching for the hole to the surface. Tilus and Keril followed, until Keril saw something red that caught his eye. “Could it be?!” he thought to himself. Indeed, it was a dragon chain.

Keril looked at the dragon chain and let his hand go, the chains slowly moving through his hands. The Kalphites were sent flying back into the abyss and they hoisted Keril up. Tilus smiled, “You did the right thing, Keril” Keril sighed, “I know, but we could have done something with all that money!” Tilus looked back at Keril as they were walking back to Alkharid. “Money isn’t everything” Keril smirked, “I guess your right”
“Thank you thank you thank you!” shouted the Sultan bowing down, “You have killed the Kalphite Queen, and made the journey across the Kharidian Desert much, much easier!” Willo smiled, “It was nothing, now we need to be heading off” The Sultan shook his head, “Oh no you can’t! You must stay for the festival, food, drinks, contests, all for free!”
Keril and Tilus looked at each other and then at Willo, “Well, we could take a break for a little bit** The Sultan clapped his hands. “Good! Very good! I shall make necessary preparations right away!” They smiled, “Better get into some local clothing?”
Keril went to his room and put on a white and black top with black pants. There were symbols encrusted on the side making it look like a spectacular illusion. He looked in the mirror and turned his body around, “Nice” Willo walked in and Keril laughed. “Hey, this was the only size they had…” Keril saw that Willo’s shirt sagged down to his feet. “Man you look awful!” Willo sighed.
As they went into the palace hundreds of people greeted and thanked them. “Where’s Tilus?” said Keril looking around. Tilus came down from her room, a black and white elegant top with a white skirt on. She smiled and looked at Keril. “Let’s go outside, the festival’s almost over” They went out on the balcony staring at the shimmering oasis. The reflection of the moon was like diamonds running on the water. They looked at each other and slowly kissed. Keril wished he could be with Tilus forever.
