“Ah, you're not annoying. xD You're just the dood that prefers the more realistic, non-fictional stuff.”
Actually, my own stories are very fictional, especially Skyhook. It’s just that I keep the armour, weapons and combat somewhat realistic, but I have noticed errors when I reread a few of my stories, so I make mistakes despite my research.
Huh, most pirates operated in light, fast ships. The idea of pirates manning a galleon was created by modern media; it was extremely rare, and every clan of pirates that operated galleons or other large ships ALWAYS ended up destroyed by the military. It’s kinda easy to spot a galleon, so pirates preferred short, small ships that could maneuver along shallow beaches and amongst reefs where larger ships could never hope to sail. Another misconception is that pirates were fearsome, fearless warriors, and the Spike video game Ultimate Warrior (or whatever) mentions that pirates were feared throughout the seas, but in reality, pirates were not much other than criminals on ships who preyed on defenceless merchant ships; they were no match in the long-term against marines.
The gas pipe leak has been repaired and I arrived home about forty minutes ago. The rumours may have exaggerated the possible threat; all I found out was that gas could be smelled throughout downtown and uptown, so it was obvious for the officials to issue warnings, but nothing happened and things are back to normal. I suppose it was natural for people to exaggerate unintentionally when something potentially serious happens.
Last year, three sawmills exploded in my region, British Columbia, so the citizens are a bit jumpy. I certainly am, I work in a mill too XD
Oh, and I looked at Crimson and Life of Crime, both of which seem to be over 200 posts in length; it may take a few days before I can get at them.
