Miles raised an eyebrow at the offer. Whoever this woman was she was more forwards than most women he'd known, but that off feeling in the back of his head only swelled. Intuition? No, that didn't seem quite right. Gut feeling wasn't the right thing to call it either. Hell, he wasn't sure there WAS a word for it, not one he could think of right now at least. He returned her smirk with a grin.

" Pulling the 'thought I recognized you' card, eh? Pretty classic, low odds of working out most of the time, " He replied with a lilt of humour, sliding up the sleeve of his shirt with one hand to check his wristwatch - inexpensive and not at all fancy - before nodding. " Guess it's your lucky day - the classics work wonders on me. "

"Low odds of working, but clearly not zero," Aly replied. She still didn't know what it was about him that made her feel so uneasy. She wasn't sure she wanted to continue staying in this man's presence, but something about him made the thought of turning away from him just as uncomfortable as staying beside him.

"I'm Aly, by the way. Short for Alyson," she said, tucking her hair behind her ear before stretching her hand out to him. "And you are?" The sun was still bothering her, and the idea of going inside was helping to outweigh the idea of touching this man. It wasn't that she was revolted by him - he was quite attractive, actually - but something kept catching in her mind.

Actually, some vague thoughts of an entrancing woman drifted into her head. Her other hand slid back to the spot on her neck that twinged when she woke up. Why would she be thinking of this now?

Tia looks up at the sun shining overhead, lighting up her pale features and copper hair. She breathes in deeply, before exhaling sharply. Really, she hates working on a beautiful day like this. She is grateful her manager is so chilled and understanding, but despite that, she shouldn't take forever to fetch coffee.

The bitter scent of coffee beans reaches her nose, and she begins following it. Weaving through the crowd, she simply follows the scent until a sign comes into sight with an icon of coffee beans. It is safe to say this is what she came for.

Without pause, she strides into the coffee shop and looks around. Typical shop really. Half the tables are occupied by chatting groups or singular people - a couple with laptops - just enjoying their coffee and the odd hot chocolate or cup of tea. Not that she could find anywhere that does a good cup of tea in this place.

Sighing mournfully to herself, the copper-haired young woman joins the queue, debating what kind of coffee she wants. Should she have a little cake with it too?

" Miles, " He replied, taking Aly's offered hand with a courteous shake. The contact was brief but the strange feeling spiked high during it, hairs on the back of his neck standing on end like hackles - the sensation that before him was a deadly threat he needed to defend himself against, that he should strike at before she could do the same. Miles kept the strangeness out of his expression, maintaining his polite and friendly demeanor. It was, after all, just a silly feeling. Probably aftereffects of that weird dream.

Taking back his hand he gestured past the woman to further down the street, his eyes having found a coffee-shaped sign sticking out not too much further away. Not that he'd needed to search - it was a place he frequented often enough when the call of duty needed him to stay up. " There's a nice little place just over there, decent brews - unless coffee was a code I missed. " He chuckled but didn't move to lead them, still facing Aly.

It was a silly feeling, and yet he wasn't going to turn his back. Not yet.

Melanie sat at a table with her laptop, enjoying her coffee and the odd hot chocolate. Today's attire was a green Christmas jumper with rows of white Christmas trees, each row separated by blue tinsel decor. On her bottom half she wore only leggings, with a large coat flung over the back of her chair as she Tumblr'd.

"Surely not!" Melanie gasped to herself as her eyes scanned a particularly raunchy depiction of a ginger haired wizard's detention with a greasy haired tutor. Melanie personally did not ship them, but admired the artistry that had gone behind the tale.

She had airpods in and listened to Welcome to the Black Parade whilst she read. A seasoned veteran when it came to being in her own bubble, Melanie was completely unaware of her surroundings or how many people might potentially be able to glance over her shoulder and see the smut that she was browsing. Some might even consider her a prime target for supernatural predation.

Contact. Aly's eye twitched briefly as soon as Miles's hand connected with hers. There was an intense urge to bolt that shot through her body for the moment that their hands connected.

It was gone as quickly as it had come. Luckily, she mostly kept it out of her expression - aside from the eye twitch, of course - but he averted his gaze to look for the coffee shop sign. She took that to mean he hadn't caught her momentary lapse of civility.

He seemed perfectly civil, so she wasn't sure what about him made her feel as if she were better than him. For one, he was dressed much better than she. The voice from the dream crossed her mind again for a moment.

Aly quickly followed his gaze and saw the sign. She motioned for him to begin walking, and did her best to keep step. "Lead the way, Miles. And no, coffee's not a code for anything."

Of course, she did her best to keep the mood light. "Yet," she added with a wink. The brief darkness from closing her eye was a welcome relief from the blinding sunlight and the uncomfortable situation with Miles.

Miles saw little choice but to take the lead, Aly's more direct mention of it making sure that he couldn't turn it around without coming across as rude, among other things. He stepped forwards, noticing the woman making to keep step with him rather than lag behind - and headed further down the street to the coffee place. He cocked an eyebrow, head turned slightly to be facing her as they walked.

" I'll be sure to remember next time coffee gets brought up, " He replied with a returned wink, crossing the street with a cursory glance - he could clearly hear there were no vehicles coming close - and approaching the door to pull it open. This time he gestured for Aly to head in first, smiling politely but mentally enjoying the opportunity to turn the tables.

He had no idea why, but the feeling of danger from the woman refused to go away. While not as strong as when they'd made contact he could still feel something urging him in the back of his mind - to attack, to put her down before she could strike. It was almost... Primal, like nothing he'd felt before, and he simply had no idea why it was so intently focused on this short, cute woman he'd only just met.

...That aside, the coffee shop was pretty loud. Much louder than he was used to it being. The click-clacking of a keyboard reached his ears, out of the corner of his eye noting a young man in the corner typing away at his laptop. A cry of 'surely not!' reached him right after, yet spoken in an oddly soft way for somebody to shout in. Miles broke his gaze from Aly to look for the source of the cry but was unable to pinpoint it, especially since nobody in the shop seemed to be paying any particular person any mind.

He shook his head slightly. " Some people, " He said with a light chuckle, looking at Aly as if she shared in the amusement.

Aly squinted her eyes as she led the way into the coffee shop. It was well-lit, but it was thankfully much darker than the sunlit street. She could finally open her eyes and allow the light to sparkle against her deep blue eyes.

She could feel the discomfort increase as Miles drifted out of her sight. She felt targeted. She felt like she needed attack, but nothing he did indicated that she was in any danger. Aly walked to the line, but turned so she could still see Miles as she waited.

"Some people indeed," the vampire replied. She chuckled slightly and smiled at Miles. The general sense of discomfort was still present, but she was managing to shove it down from the forefront of her mind. To test the discomfort's limits, she nudged him with her elbow and pointed at a girl across a table who seemed to be examining some rather interesting topics online. "Imagine confidently reading that at a coffee shop."
