Now 80. Are we happy now.
Also a raw preview, also because I love this bit:
"They passed underneath an age-sanded gate-way. Blown by sand and water into the body of the fortress. A cave of red. It ran and snaked through the cliff side. Its interior like that of the gullet of a giant snake. Although headless, had now swallowed the travelers. The hoof-falls of the horses echoed with empty pops against the hard, rounded and ribbed interior.
It wound its way along, widening, shrinking, bending, dropping, and rising. In spots face-fulls of ocean-spray crashed into the outside, sending buckets of water smashing through years-old murder holes. The cold water drenched the rider’s cloaked. It chilled them deeper than the desert nights have ever done.
Battered an well-used lanterns hung on the walls, anchored to the weathered cave-walls by large iron spikes. The fires inside flickered lazily in the breeze that drifted through the tunnel. The shadows of the riders danced chaotically in the fire-light. Appearing in one spot, and then reappearing in another before doubling and then re-forming to one. Their journey came towards it end when a bright-white light showed itself. Sun light. The exit."
Mind you it's raw, very raw. But I felt very proud of it when I was working on it this morning.
