On Memory
Author's note: this was originally going to be a regular post before it got too long XD I'm not going to rewrite it to adjust tone
Just so everyone knows, I'm sort of implying that, even though your character has amnesia, there will probably be locations, events, sensations, etc. that "jog your memory" from before the start of the thread. I've left it a little ambiguous so that people can develop their memory at a pace they find agreeable and in accordance with their character (and/or power) development over the course of the thread—and I've also left it open ended such that if that doesn't interest you, the return of one's memory can be entirely avoided XD I (hoped to have) left some textual clue that memory is "deeper" than explicit recall in the intro, namely the reference to knowing that one has been in the halls, but I could've been more explicit about this intention, and I could've done a better job to signpost such an intention (I literally thought I had more oblique recollections in the intro XD sorry about that)
So I'm going to explicitly give you license for your characters to know things—especially knowing
how
and not knowing
that
if that makes sense?—but, especially in the beginning of the thread, I would prefer if they can't explain for what reason they know, that they can't remember why they know. If you'd like, I can elaborate on this know how/know that distinction if it's not intuitive. But to give a clearer example of how this could play out in the thread: for instance, if your character knows the geography of Nexus City really well (say they've lived there for the past 5 years) they might be able to navigate throughout the city but not be able to articulate anything about how they're able to accomplish this—
