~Repetition, Continued~

“Please, Zori. Please promise me.” Like a father trying to soothe a wounded child, the softness seemed to make my fear slowly dissipate. At least, for the most part. Despite what he said, I don’t think I’d ever look at Mole the same way again, no matter how much I wanted to.

“A-Alright. I promise.” I replied. If there was some opportunity for repentance, this was my clear chance. I could have lost so much more. I was...grateful. That*s what I was feeling.

“Thank you.” He said, more flatly before pulling me into a friendly and relieved embrace.

~Repose*

As it turns out, Morvran’s intense training regimen was just what I needed to clear the incident out of my mind at least for a little while.

“...It seems you’ve thrown yourself fully into your training these past few weeks. I’ve noticed.” The Iorwer*hian Slayer Master’s comment was much more meaningful than it appeared; any kind of praise at all from him, no matter how scant, was like being admitted into some higher echelon of the art.

“So, I have a challenge for you, should you choose to accept it. There are ten famed monsters all throughout this land...all of them suffer varying degrees of corruption. I want you to fight all of them alone, to cleanse them.” He said, crossing his arms.

“Which monsters are these?” I asked.

“The King Black Dragon, the Kalphite Queen, the Dagannoth Kings, Commander Zilyana, Kre’arra, General Graador, K’ril Ts*taroth, the Queen Black Dragon, Araxxi, and a stronger version of the Faladian Giant Mole,” He said, as if reading off a grocery list.

Of all the names on the list, one in particular stood out to me, the auburn haired general of Saradomin that was one of the first of my kind I knew about in the realm of Gielinor. Unfortunately, this wasn’t going to better our relationship in any way, I supposed.

The anger she had at me for deserting Saradomin on so many occasions would make her more difficult to defeat than she would for the ordinary adventurer.

Her zeal was raised to such a fervor pitch that it scared me sometimes. Her violence towards Cres was one thing; it was representative of a greater violence in her heart for anyone who went against the way she saw the world. It was something I had learned from. I did*’* want an anger like that to ever consume me, even if it seemed to come from ‘justified’ revenge against those like Lucien.

You apostate! Our kind either serves Saradomin faithfully or is no good for anything! If you weren’t the White Guardian you’d be wingless like Garlandia!

But my personal issues needed to be set aside for the art of slaying.I hoped that when I had fought enough I could just heal her and be done with it.

“I accept...your challenge.”

“Splendid. I will be eagerly awaiting your performance.” He said, and I nodded before walking away to the Tower of Voices to prepare.

I spent a good long while researching the monsters in question, mostly focused on the ones like Araxxi, the Queen Black Dragon, and Nex that I wasn’t as familiar with and would be more afraid of. If I wanted to succeed, I knew I had to be prepared. Thankfully I had other friends that were more acquainted with this. Apparently those who had taken the challenge before me recalled that one became weaker with each monster, and Araxxi was the strongest of these (according to my research).

Despite knowing this, though, I was reluctant to challenge the spider beneath the Haunted Woods first, opting for someone familiar instead, as I prepared to make a journey to the frozen north to give the great ourg of Bandos’s champion a good fight. As it turns out, he wasn’t much of a challenge, and tried to grab me for a forced rematch, having been unsatisfied with the loss but I...narrowly escaped.

I had to extensively prepare even further before I thought of setting foot anywhere NEAR that spider’s lair.

~*****~

“How...How did he** the archer muttered to himself, as their company made their way through the tunnels deep beneath Gielinor. Some of them were naturally occuring, others, were dug out meticulously by more of their kind. The mage seemed to be unable to speak for a long time, having slipped into some kind of catatonic shock, leaving the soldier to have to carry her. While the soldier’s armor mostly concealed his emotion, he was somewhat rattled.

“We need to report this.” the soldier said, in a blunt and serious manner.

“I know. That girl may or may not return, but regardless, she escaped with memory of us, of our kind. Because of him. The archer said, equal amounts of anxiety and exasperation in his voice.

“He reacted with the same loyalty one of our own would have towards their Tamer,” the soldier also remarked as they journeyed more swiftly through the tunnels. *That could...potentially complicate things.”

“Not if those of Clan Tyli* assist in the investigation. Next to none in our kind match their ability to be secretive.” The archer argued, to which the soldier showed some affirmation.

From the simple abodes of the commoner to the streets of the marketplace strongholds that kept the collective dwelling, all the buildings were made of quarried stone and a metal which seemed to be their race’s variant on the iron so common to the surface. Perhaps their smiths had refined the metal in methods their race had perfected over the centuries of their civilization. Their senses were ones that were primarily refined for the darkness, though, and their appreciation of the city’s architecture came from their nature. If one saw the city in the light, it would have little to no variation in color.

However, there would be a level of order to the city that one might not expect in a race that appeared so bestial. They had built it in one of the grand atriums of the underground with great skill.

The three made their way hastily through the streets and to the central citadel of the city, trying as best as they could to not disrupt the activity of the common Talpan citizens. Many looked puzzled and slightly worried, stopping their trading or family activity to make sure the party could pass, concerned as to what might cause them to go so swiftly.

However, another approached them, a being about the height of a Mahjarrat and wearing intricate hooded robes, the center of their chest bearing an insignia that immediately caught their attention.

“That will no longer be necessary.” The individual said in a dark and booming voice, to which the archer seemed to grow more tense.

“She knows about us! She retained memories of us! Certainly the High Clan would want to-”

“She will not likely be spreading knowledge about this place. You have no need to report this matter. We of Clan Blaque are more interested in her protector than in her. I repeat, you are relieved of this matter.” He said, causing the archer to relax. The mage slowly stirred, having regained some of her reason after the shock. With that, the tall, robed individual departed, leaving the troupe alone.

“...Once Nasani fully recovers, we should return to patrol.” The soldier said, to which the archer nodded and agreed.

Hello again, this is Az*garath/Azi Azi, using a different account, as my main account was banned for hate speech when I advocated the right for women to defend themselves with guns against terrorists. Anyways, now that you're back, I will continued reading where I left off last year.

You continue your exploration. A few random figures appear from the darkness.

“. . .black leather that was carefully stitched into archer’s armor.”
Stitching rawhide together to make armour would be very bad armour, and I don't know what “archer's armor” refers to (presumably fantasy armour of some sort).

The warrior's helmet is not described, but he does wear heavy armour. You can see in the dark, however you manage that. You ask the beings who they are, and agree to be taken out. Note that you don't need posts to have titles on what they are about, the reader already knows that.

The spell heals you, using the darkness which makes itself into life energy, healing you, however that works. Off they go.

““Oh, very much.” She said, with a smile that made her look almost catlike and tame.”
Cats don't smile, though I suppose the analogy works in its own way.

Dialogue is very polite and gentle. Suddenly, there does not seem to be creatures, dangers or obstacles. They discuss gods and topics. I find it odd that the shadow-beings have a god for assassins, considering that every culture in history viewed assassins negatively and hatefully. There is mention of defeating a rock monster.

“. . .as if their race had an intricate map of this entire tunnel system ingrained in their souls.”
Quite a fancy way of saying they memorized it.

“How were their senses different from humans and from Icyene, not to mention other races?”
I don't know.

Page 2 ends at that. I will stop here, as I have recently noticed a bug bite or something at the back of my left thigh, which makes it uncomfortable to sit. So that's all for today, see you next time.
