"He has sixteen pieces in total," he thought to himself. "So I can ask a maximum of sixteen questions. I'd better ask wisely, but more so I should concentrate on winning. Natalie's life hinges on it.
"But he'll also have a possible sixteen questions for me. I'm not sure if I can trust him to answer honestly, but I personally intend to. Right, time to move."
Robert moved pawn E2 two squares forward and awaited his foes response.

~Chapter XXI~
Georgia slashed wildly at the unknown being clasped around her left leg, but the thick sea of blood she was in slowed down her swings and the object did not dislodge itself. Frustrated and running low on oxygen, Georgia thrust her sword into the thing with a bit too much vigour and pierced through it and her own leg. As she wrenched the blade from her leg she flicked off the object and swam to the surface with her remaining strength.
She gasped and began swimming backstroke back to the shallow end of the pool where she then leapt out to study the creatures in the water.
What she had first suspected to be mutant fish were in fact severed arms much like those that had attacked the group back at Edgeville. They swam like frenzied piranhas at the surface of the water until they reached the shallows that Georgia stood on and surged towards her hungrily.
Georgia's sword became a flurry of movement as she diced each limb that flew at her, her mad swings proving efficacious against the tide of creatures. Eventually, Georgia had cleaved through the entire crowd leaving a pile of putrid, rotten pieces scattered around her. She gazed into the pool to ascertain how many more could be present but the thickness of the basin meant she could not see past the first few centimetres.
Georgia suddenly recalled the searing pain in her left leg and examined it closely. Though she had been drenched from the pool it was easy to determine which blood was hers: it gushed from her leg like a leaking hose.
"Lucky I got this room and not Veronica..." she mumbled to herself as she reluctantly ripped off a portion of her sleeve and tied it around the wound. She looked out at the expansive, bloody view before her and decided that for once it would be best to plan her next course of action. The blood was too deep for her to tell where it was deep or shallow and the 'Things' around the room meant she couldn't get too close to a wall.

Georgia saw no choice but to swim through and hope that there were more shallow spots than deep. With a running jump, Georgia dived headfirst into the water with her sword sheathed in her belt loop for the moment. She swam with speed that would rival a shark and eventually smashed her head against a solid object. Without hesitance she leapt atop the object and was glad to find herself on a shallow zone free of demented creatures.
She was also pleased to find that she had gained considerable distance from the entrance and could also see the exit at the opposing end of the room at approximately fifty metres away. She cautiously stepped through the ankle deep pool until she reached a drop, indicating that it was a deep end. Once again, she fearlessly dove into the rancid liquid and unremittingly made her way to the other side unimpeded. When she bashed her skull against another solid object she leapt up to the surface hastily.
Then rolled to the side to avoid a giant, disfigured hand that came crashing down on the spot she had surfaced at. Georgia was at her feet quickly and realised she had arrived at an island in the centre of the room with one of the 'Things' on them. She also managed to note that the land she was on was full of the ruined furniture she had seen before. She didn't take time to look at it though because the Thing was attacking her with tormented rage. It slammed its other arm into the ground in front of Georgia, missing her ever so slightly. Georgia had drawn her sword and slashed vertically at the creature's hand. Its skin was tough and only sustained a shallow cut but it was still enough to send it into a berserk rampage. It flung its arms around like they were flails and instead of moving away from them, Georgia ran closer to the creature. She realised that if she were to move back she risked tripping over the decrepit furniture and into the putrid pool.

Georgia dodged another swing and then started to run around the creature, seeking to climb its back. Georgia was startled to learn that although it was stationary, the Thing could still rotate on its position and brought its arm down like a hammer.
Snap.
Georgia's left arm cracked in two at the forearm, splitting open her skin and showering her face with blood. She howled with pain but instead of retreating Georgia mustered all her willpower and remaining physical strength and jumped upon the Thing's arm. She sprinted up and onto its head where it flailed its body wildly in an attempt to dislodge her, but even with only one arm Georgia stood strong. With a cry of absolute fury, Georgia thrust her blade between the creature's piercing red eyes. Her blade sank through to the other side of its head and it gave one last howl of agony as it suddenly stopped its mad movements. Georgia leapt to the ground as it crumpled into a bloodied heap, rivers of liquid seeping from its forehead.
Georgia too, fell into a pile and clenched her teeth tightly to stop her from screaming. Her left arm was screeching with intense pain as blood pumped out of the crude wound in torrents. She was fortunate that her arm was still in once piece, but her bones and top layer of skin were a different story. Georgia managed to crawl up against one of the fallen tables and seat herself for the moment, clenching her arm tightly in a vain attempt to stop the flow of blood. Her sword lay on the ground beside her, should she need to grab it in a dire circumstance. Georgia's breathing was shaky as she tore off more of her sleeve to wrap around her recent injury and though difficult as it was, Georgia managed to tie it crudely around her shattered arm.
When she had finished tying it however, she cried out painfully and roared every curse she knew to the room around her. The strong, courageous and determined Georgia continued her coarse uproar until her body could no longer handle it. She passed out.

~Chapter XXII~
"What's wrong?" asked Edward, curious about Veronica's sudden trepidation.
She gulped, then began to read the contents of the superbly ominous diary.
"I am Evan Edgevil and within this diary I have recorded the events regarding my death, resurrection and future plans as set to me by The Master. My life was extinguished by a creature known as a 'Black Demon'. These creatures are immensely powerful and a curious, young child such as myself never stood a chance. They erupted from the cavern secluded beneath the Edgeville chapel and slaughtered all nearby, including myself and my family. Their unremitting and savage assault was only ceased by a troop of experienced and capable warriors.
"My body was torn apart. Indeed, that I had not been torn into anymore than twelve pieces was a miracle in itself. After my departure from the world of the living, my corpse was buried in a location within The Wilderness, along with the others who had perished. A statue commemorating my father was constructed atop his coffin.
"But all of this is senseless drivel. Simply the rigmarole of a pathetic child. My life is gone, death is all that remains. I have forfeited everything I once was and have been rebor-no. I have not been reborn, I am dead. I am a wandering soul inhabiting a false body. There is no life, in life I was weak. I have been morphed into a paragon of turpitude, an avatar of all that is chaotic and mad.
"I came to be this way four days after my death. That is when The Master came. He brought me up and assembled a body I could use. Its heart did not beat and its lungs did not breathe but I had no use for trivialities such as those. He gave me power, he gave me a home and a promise: I would never lose anything again. For what can someone who has lost everything possibly be afraid to lose? I could not die again and the power I was blessed with ensured that I would never be sealed or defeated. But more so, I was given a purpose.

"The Master has something planned and I am to play a substantial role in its fruition. I am to be the creator of beasts as well as the destroyer of Edgeville. It's rather ironic; my father created Edgeville and now I, his son, will destroy it. I also have the honour of being The Master's first ally and closest associate. As for whether or not I am his most powerful asset...I cannot say.
"The beasts I create will each destroy a section of Gielinor. In time, this land with be in a state of complete annihilation and my Master will recreate the land for his personal use. He has explained to me (me alone) what his 'personal use' will detail and I am quite pleased by it.
"And so, for years I have been perfecting the arts of necromancy, summoning, amalgamation and of course dark sorcery. My army of beasts grows vast and immeasurable. I first feared that my house would not accommodate such an immense army but was serendipitous to uncover spells that would twist and reform the dimensions of the abode. Soon, I had the domain under my complete command. Rooms would expand beyond their physical limits, stairs would take me where I desired and doors would lead where I told them to lead. I even learnt how to observe Edgeville from my house and devoted a room entirely to its surveillance."
"What is this?!" interjected Edward suddenly. "Weren't we just dealing with a ghost? What's this about a master and Gielinor's destruction?"
"I-I don't know," spluttered Veronica. "Listen, I'm almost done. Maybe the last paragraph will reveal a bit more..."
Veronica had not noticed any dates within this particular edition of Evan's life. From the increased fluidity in the handwriting and the expanding vocabulary implored by Evan, Veronica could tell that he didn't write it all in one day. It was as if he deliberately left out the dates or perhaps no longer saw the need to keep track of something as frivolous as time.

"And so," Veronica continued reading. "As I have completed The Master's army, I have dedicated the remainder of my time to leisure. Though without life I do bear the occasional desire to indulge myself in the paltry aspects of my time. I continue to pursue greater knowledge regarding the supernatural arts and am still adamant about crafting more beasts for my master to utilise. I do however, keep some of my favourites in the east wing of the manor so that I may marvel upon them at my liberty.
"I have taken an interest in the arts and even went as far as to commandeer a panoply of human corpses that I may freely manipulate into images of splendour. I did this by sending a certain beast to a land in the east. Though something must have happened to it, for once it returned with the 'supplies' (among other interesting things) it left again and never returned. I heard tales of a creature matching its description ravaging the city of Varrock only to be defeated a lone farmer. Of course I dismissed this as mere coincidence; a creature of my creation would not be defeated so easily!
"My Master says it is almost time. Soon we will purge these lands of all peace, of all security and happiness. I previously wondered about the fate of one of my beasts which my Master informs me he took brief possession of and instructed to attack Varrock. He was pleased with the results and declared its death 'an act of extreme misfortune'. I'm proud to know that he has confidence in my abilities. Tomorrow I will begin to eradicate Edgeville (I know just the creature to send) and slowly we will plunge this land into a void of despair."
Veronica carefully closed the book and placed it down upon the desk.
"This is no longer about us," she declared. "We have to escape not just to save our lives, but the lives of everyone else in Gielinor."

~Chapter XXIII~
'Agony! All throughout my arm! They're all over me, claws, teeth, fangs-argh! Blood! Blood, blood BLOOD!! Make it stop! Please! the agony is un-bear-able-! You're ripping-! Tearing-! AAAARRRGGGHHHH-!!'
Georgia wakes from her dream and back into the nightmare. Her arm is shrieking with monstrous pain and still bleeding despite her rough tourniquet, albeit slowly. Summoning all of her might, Georgia twists her head to the side and is instantly reminded of her situation.
In a room of blood, at least another fifty metres to the exit, THINGS in the liquid, THINGS growing from the walls and ceilings, THINGS snarling at her, lunging for her and gnashin* their gaping jaws, a dead THING sprawled nearby with her blood coating its demented form.
Georgia comes close to losing it. She comes close to abandoning who she is and screaming with absolute terror and pain.
Instead, she groans in torture and gets to her feet whilst leaning on her sword for support. Georgia glances down at her snapped and useless limb as it dangles limply by her side and is filled with despair. There would be no way she could swim in this condition, least of all through blood infested with horrible, violent creatures.
"There has to be another way," she groans to herself, trying to distract herself from the pain. "A hidden path, a network of shallows? Something?"
She desperately searched for these, all the while avoiding the corpse of the monstrosity she had slain. She had only been out for a few moments but already the carcass was rotting and extruded a repulsive pungency.
Georgia suddenly felt short of breath and needed to lean on her blade again. She felt light headed and sleepy, and realised with anguish what was happening.
She was dying.
She had lost a tremendous amount of blood and was still leaking the viscous fluid at an unhealthy rate. She was physically worn down as well, she hadn't had a break since their rest at the Chaos Altar.

"That does it then." Georgia declared to herself, heaving off of her support, mustering all the willpower she possessed. She was taking deep, shaky breaths and constantly on the verge of collapsing.
Despite this, she began to roar to the room around her.
"EVAN EDGEVIL! I don't know if you can hear me, but if you can, listen well! I will not die like this! Not alone in a pool of my own blood! My whole life has been in search of adventure of excitement and-" She paused to catch her breath and steady herself on the sword. "And this has more often than not caused my friends unhappiness. But they still love me! Despite all my faults and quirks they would do anything for me! So, with these shrieking manifestations of horror and the gods of Gielinor as my witness I vow: I will not die without first seeing my friends!"
Georgia turned around and hobbled over to where she had been lying before: a pile of heavy wardrobes and other furniture. Georgia was shaking wildly now, her arm throbbing under the strip of cloth. Georgia lay down facing the ceiling and removed the cloth with her good arm. She then spread her ruined arm out before her and with her other trembling arm placed her sword upon it at the shoulder with the blade pointing downwards.
Then, with a strength a girl on the verge of death should not possess, she hauled one of the nearby wardrobes towards her with her remaining arm and held it over the sword. Georgia shut her eyes and tried to focus her mind on other things. She hummed a tune she oft enjoyed (the same she had sung before venturing down into Edgeville's Dungeon) and tried to think of her friends; safe, happy and together, back in Edgeville playing down by the river.
Her arm gave way and she dropped the wardrobe.
There was a sound like the heavens splitting in two as Georgia's sword, driven by the weight of the wardrobe sliced her destroyed arm off just below the shoulder.
Georgia, bravest girl in all of Misthalin, did not cry.

She wailed with a pain that surpassed all she had felt before. The stump that was the remains of her limb howled with fury as it pumped blood uncontrollably.
Georgia swore, screamed and thrashed about as she tried to tie up the wound with all that remained of her shirt. In her throes of wild pain she bit through her tongue causing a sick explosion of coppery flavour in her mouth. Amazingly, Georgia succeeded in binding the bloody stub with her shirt in a way that also shielded her body from defiled eyes.
Georgia tried to hum again, to think of the friends so dear to her. She bit down on her tongue again, gently this time and started towards the sea of blood. She sheathed her sword in her belt loop and without a moments hesitation and seemingly without any added difficulty, she dove in. The thoughts, sounds and feelings she experienced numbed the pain and kept her awake, kept her alive. Having discarded her wounded arm it was possible to swim as she did a sort of semi-freestyle through the water with her remaining limbs.
She was untroubled as she swam, unburdened by any horrid beings. The whole world seemed silent as she swam, the only things clear to her being memories of her friends and the sound of her own humming.
After an eternity of swimming through the vile ocean, Georgia's blue-stained red head crashed into the final wall. She struggled valiantly, darkness periodically clouding her vision, telling her that her time was almost up.
Missing an arm; soaked with blood that was both hers and that of foul, unimaginable horrors and teetering on the tightrope between life and death, Georgia brought herself up and in front of the door.
"Not yet," she muttered, drawing her sword. "I'm not done yet..."
Georgia twisted the handle whilst clenching her blade and prepared to give her all to whatever awaited her.
