All the guards ran into the fray of blades, blood, hair, and body heat at the same time, and many of them were piled on by the psycho drunks whose drool stained the guard's faces and armor, as the surprised guards were stabbed, bashed in the skull, or had one of their limbs cut off and broken.
"Saradomin help us!" the leader cried out in despair, his teeth clenched together and the sweat shining on his worn face as he deflected a skinny man's dagger and the dwarf's barrage of rocks.
He saw the large, greasy man bellow like an ogre and then bite down on another guard's neck with such force that he actually took out a piece of flesh. The huge man began to chew on his meal and then body slammed three people at the same time, bones cracking.
Then the guard leader huffed and howled ferociously, and began to swing his sword with such strength and speed that it was only a silver blur cutting down and up and around and in whatever direction his furious rage told him to. He yelled one last time and then stabbed the large man straight through his jiggly stomach, his sword then going even farther down the man's midsection, until it popped out from his back. He lifted the man in midair for a second, and then with a barbaric yell that was a mix between a man's and a demon's, hurled him down on the pile of bodies with a thundering crash.
He felt everything spin at the speed of light, and he himself became like the drunks, and then fell to the ground, his body exhausted to the point of failing to throw itself anymore.

Meanwhile, while the insane fight raged on below, the five thieves ran through the lodging part of the Blue Moon Inn, tipping over chairs and tables as they found a window they could jump out of. O'Hinal jumped out first, Frojkal just beginning to regain consciousness as his head crashed into the ground and all went black for him again. Next, Jerry jumped out and let out a high-pitched scream as he landed on the ground, and then Marent and Patrick both jumped out at the same time, Patrick falling on the books and groaning as their edges poked his chest and stomach painfully, which he began to rub as the five sneaked past the perfect example of chaos next door, almost back at the hideout and safe as rats in their homes.
The Tramp noticed the five walking by, and just turned his head in curiosity as he saw a masked man dragging another unconscious man with black, spiky hair behind him, a guy with only about two or three strands of singed hair left sobbing in his dirty hands, and two other men dressed in the same outfit as the others mumbling something surreptitious and one of them dragging a brown bag that had spikes protruding from it.
Then, he noticed a sword on the edge of the threshold to the Blue Moon Inn. His heart leaped with joy; finally, something he could sell for some money! But as he reached the door to pick up the sword, he noticed the gut-wrenching sight of about 30 bodies all lying on the floor, some of them terribly cut up and even one or two of them with bite marks on them, and blood coated the floor, the tables, the walls, and even the ceiling as if all the men involved had just exploded spontaneously and had been left there on the floor to decompose and be food for the rats.
His mouth hung open and he stared at the scene with huge, terrified eyes, blinking and rubbing them to make sure the nightmare was real, and then he ran over to the sword shop and retched right there on the counter, upsetting the owner a lot more than he usually did.

O'Hinal picked the entrance lock on the hideout, and dragged Frojkal in, the other three following and Marent closing the door so that they were finally safe.
"I swear, that was so close! But I'll be a demon's next meal if that wasn't one of the most exciting deals we've ever done!" Marent's arm went in an uppercut-like motion across his chest.
O'Hinal panted, and Frojkal began to wake up in a woozy daze.
"Yeah." He panted.
"Nearly getting killed by the wimpy Varrockian Guards, who always get killed by even the stupidest adventurers, is your idea of a fun time."
Patrick put down the bag of books, wiped his forehead, and then walked over and sat down on one of the two chairs near the unremovable bronze seal shaped like a thief that was running with a bag of gold that was pinned to the wall, a reminder to all the Black Arms that this was their hideout and always will be their home, now and forever.
"Did you hear that insane fight going on downstairs? And the fact that no one besides that Tramp, who is as smart as the back end of a chicken, is the only one who saw us come back in... I'm telling you, thanks to setting off that fight, we indirectly killed all those guards! All of them! How's that for lucky? Or smart? Or both?" He looked down and licked his lips.
"Huh...? I'm alive...? Last I remember... the guards..." Frojkal's voice was tattered like a standard in the wilderness, and it rasped horribly.
O'Hinal knelt down next to Frojkal.
"I saved you. I saved all of us... but I had to give up the loot. At least Patrick managed to keep the books..." His voice sounded disappointed, he let out a tired sigh, and then he got closer to Frojkal and whispered something in his ear. Frojkal understood, groaned, then got up, and stumbled over and managed to keep himself steady against the wall.
"I feel like... I have the worst... hangover ever. Catch me." Frojkal fell over, and O'Hinal dived to catch him, which he did.

"I swear, if Froj catches on too late, I'm gonna be dead... but whatever happens, my plan will go through flawlessly. I just need to get that last piece of info..." O’Hinal thought as he held Frojkal.
"Hey, O'Hinal. Now that we're safe, we oughta get to telling Levantris on what happened, huh?" Marent began to walk into the beginning of the complex maze of hallways that was easy for him to navigate, as he had been through almost every hallway at least a couple of times.
"Sure. But Levantris might be mad that we left the loot behind... let's go down to the meeting room where Levantris told us about all of that stuff concerning the Rising Sun and Jipalar deals." Patrick got up from the chair and followed Marent down.
Jerry stopped crying in the corner and followed them, wiping the tears from his eyes and trying as hard as he could not to think about his singed hair, his most prized possession that went up in flames...
--
Levantris had finished with Savlon's morning feeding of sawdust, bones, and the rats that tried to steal his food. Of course, to Levantris, it was almost amusing watching Savlon squish rats with his huge, bare hands and watch them squeal in horror as he chewed them up like a fresh stick of gum, and then swallow and roar, staining his magical Runite cage that kept him hostage.
Savlon could barely have any rational thought anymore, since the years in the cage degraded him from a ruthless, smelly, brawny thief who took pleasure in killing people to an even smellier, older, and stupider monster who only purpose was to eat anything that was tossed in his cage and occasionally tell Levantris what little words he had left.
"You still scrawny thief!" to which Levantris usually replied,
"Yeah, but this scrawny thief is way better than you now."
All in all, if Savlon had a little more brains, he would've cared that he had no life. But since his brain cell count went down like disco, he was content with eating until he died.

O'Hinal led the group now, as by the time Marent went to the mess hall for the third straight time it got to him and he nearly punched him and told him to either eat something or live with a black eye.
"Yeah, and I'm the only one with any real reasoning around here. I swear. If I have to tell Froj right before the entire squad heads off for Jipalar when everything's all scrambled, then so be it..." O'Hinal thought, as he led the group swiftly to Levantris's room.
"And why are you doing this again? Seriously, O'Hinal, you're almost obsessed with this guy. What is he, your dad?" Marent rubbed his left eye and blew the junk that had landed in his hand away, so that it fluttered towards the ground and added to the pile of dirt that had lined the walls.
"It's none of your business, stick!" O'Hinal whirled around, and a harsh breath flew out of his mouth and made Marent's face scrunch up in disgust. It smelled like rotting rat flesh combined with a nice light splash of bile topping it, and Marent turned away, waving his hand in front of his face, and said,
"Yeah, and it's also none of my business that your breath could probably make a poison if it was bottled up in a vial. Now let's go. The only reason I'm even here is because I want to tell Levantris about what happened."
Frojkal heard the entire conversation, and all he did was close his eyes and let out a wistful sigh.
Patrick was more focused on Jerry's head rather than the banter between Marent and O'Hinal. He struggled to keep himself from laughing right at the measly little black strands of hair growing out from Jerry's scarred head, and it worked, for a while... until they finally went down to the bottom and reached the golden door that marked Levantris's quarters, in which he burst out in laughter, the happy sound echoing through the halls and making Sonia raise an eyebrow in wonder as she walked through the hallways with her own agenda.
Jerry turned around, his face red and tears forming.

Jerry broke into a mix between a sob and a shout, his voice clouded like the visibility in a ghostly fog, but it was a gnome in the Khazard Battlefield, as O'Hinal slapped him, and shushed him up, which caused Jerry to cry out even more pitifully, and then he whirled around like a blind ballerina and shoved O'Hinal's head into the wall, then kicking him and running off, sobbing like a baby with a dragon in its diaper and making Savlon let out a questioning growl as Jerry wailed past him.
"Dude. I'm not sure whether to say 'Good job!' or 'You're a heartless witch.' Just... do what you're gonna do." Marent looked off to the side, wondering about Jerry's situation.
O'Hinal nodded and turned around to knock on the door, but Levantris came out with an annoyed look on his face, as if they had interrupted something important he was doing.
"What is going on out here?! Did someone put one of the more squeamish thieves in front of Savlon again? I realize that can fuel your passionate desires to hurt people, but it's not needed when some of us are trying to sleep!"
"Umm... no... it's a long story." Patrick shrugged and scratched his head.
So they told Levantris all about what happened, Jerry's accidents and the incident in the garden with all the guards, including the fence and Jerry's insane flaming head. They even told him about the bar chaos and that the Tramp noticed them as they went in.
Levantris looked down, nodded, and mumbled something to himself.
"Well. With that sort of abuse Jerry took, I would expect him to be out for the next couple of weeks, possibly a month. Was it him who made that shrill excuse for a wake-up call?"
They all nodded, and then Marent pointed to O'Hinal and said in an annoying, girly voice,
"It was him! He did it!"

"What? Well... considering Jerry was vain, I'll let it slide. If he doesn't shape up, though, feel free to show him the consequences of his actions again. Now I'm going to go find the new recruit. She needs to learn more about the Jipalar Deal..." Levantris pushed O'Hinal over and walked through the hallways, his cape fluttering slightly as it hovered above the ground, exposing Levantris's aged, worn black boots every other step he took.
"Well, that was... ok." Patrick shrugged, and then leaned against the dirty brick wall, next to a crackling torch that gave the area its dim light.
"Hmm*h." That was all Frojkal said, as he preferred to speak with his gestures, rather than his voice. He was leaning in the darkest corner of the hallway, taking in the darkness like a sponge.

Levantris had a lot on his mind. That annoying image of that white figure and the diamond bullet kept popping up in his mind, and it was starting to bother him, in fact, it bothered him to the point that his head was jerking around suddenly to shake the thoughts out of his mind as he got to Sonia'* quarters.
He took out a key and unlocked the door, and found Sonia staring at the ceiling, counting the cracks in the ceiling, saying a number out loud every time she found one with a bug in it. She got to 13 before she noticed Levantris in the small, cramped room, and then she looked at him like he had a sore on his face.
"What's wrong with you? You look like something's bothering you."
"It's nothing. Just a stupid tick that I get every now and then. You wouldn't know, as you've only been here for less than two days. But I have to talk to you, and not just about Jipalar, although that's mostly what I'm here for." Levantris looked up and ran his hand through his hair, which still wasn't sure if it was light tan or dark blonde.
"Really? So what's on your mind, then?" Sonia'* voice sounded normal, as if she might've been talking to Thessalia.

Levantris took a relaxed breath and began to speak like he was a very tired and bored teenager, his speech slurring together at times, but still relatively easy to understand.
"Hmm*h. Well, Jipalar is in two days. It'll take us an estimate of four days to reach the warehouse, and at least five days to get back to the hideout, as we might have some idiots on our trail and the loot will slow us down. But it'll be worth it."
"Ok... but I don't get this, Levantris. I'm very new, so why are you putting me on an expert's mission? It's really not logical, or smart... and as much as I hate to admit it, you look pretty smart." Sonia rolled her eyes as she finished her last sentence.
"Well, do thieves always need a reason for the things that they do? Part of being a thief is keeping secrets from people. And this is a secret. But, to calm any of your fears, which I'm sure you have, I promise that you will not die..." The tones of his voice were the foreboding low tones of a haunted organ. Or maybe that was just in Sonia'* head...
"Um, ok. I-I guess I'm fine about it. Didn't you say that you wanted to say something else that wasn't related to Jipalar?"
Sonia was calm, but it was as if, without her noticing, Levantris had suddenly become darker and more dangerous. Of course, he was a thief! But he was the person who spared her life; still, she wasn't sure whether to place her full trust in him, since the way his eyes looked at her and watched her cautiously, and the way his voice seemed to belong to the orphaned creature that considers the seven-story organ in the rundown, cursed house at the edge of reality home just... scared her. Or was this all a trick of the mind, and was she just imagining all of this?
"I will, in just a minute. Jipalar is a very special place, and I have a special job for you that is essential." His voice seemed to lift out of the darkness on the last word, but it shirked as if it didn't want to become light, become... human.

"W-What is it?" Sonia'* voice began to quaver slightly.
"Hehe. You see, I want you to be the one that makes sure the real thieves don't mess up. It's obvious you like to keep things in order. Sure, you don't have any real leading experience like I do, but after all, they're just a bunch of rowdy thieves. If I tell them to listen to you, they will. You got it?" Levantris looked up at the ceiling and watched the bugs crawl through the cracks in it.
"What? You want me to lead them? Is that what you're saying? You're serious?! You want me to lead a group of experienced thieves when I have no experience myself?!" Sonia got up, brushed herself off, only to find it dirtied her hands, and then quickly ran her hand through her long, brown hair and stood before Levantris, watching his eyes stare at the ceiling, and then focus on her, which caused her to move back a little.
"Aye. Don't worry. Just tell 'em to shut up if they're too loud. Remember, I'll be leading this too. I'll let you in on more details tomorrow, because I need to tell you something else and then I have to get back to those silly idiots who half-ruined the Rising Sun Deal. They'll start looking for Jerry again if I don't get back to them soon..." Levantris's voice finally returned to its normal emotionless tone, that actually sounded soothing compared to the ominous way he spoke earlier.
"Jerry?"
"The guy with the jet black hair that he considers his the pinnacle of his life. At least, until now. You may have been there when he ran off screaming like a scared banshee, causing me to come out of my room and then find out what happened to Jerry and what happened at the Rising Sun Deal. His hair was singed off in a bizarre flame incident, I believe..." Levantris wiped his lip.
"My gosh, so that's what that was... I thought that was so funny. Now..."
"I know. You want me to say it. To say that you're a lucky, special, person to be here. By the way, what's your name?"
"...It's Sonia."

Levantris walked towards the door and was about to leave, but Sonia had a question to ask him, one that kept bothering her like an obnoxious child.
"I know I've already asked this several times, Levantris... but why did you let me live?"
He stopped at the threshold, but he didn't turn around. He stood there, motionless.
"Back in the day, I felt that it was something I had to do. That's all. I'm leaving." He then left Sonia to herself once again, in the small, unkempt room that was now her home.
--
"I'm sick of waiting up for him! Frojkal, Pat, you wanna come with me to the mess hall? I'm starting to get hungry and O'Hinal's starting to creep me out." Marent spat on the floor and began to walk off, away from the golden door and O'Hinal, who was tapping his foot on the floor, waiting for Levantris to return.
"Yeah, I'm coming, Marent. I don't know about Frojkal though... He seems like he could care less about food right now." Patrick looked at Frojkal, who returned his glance with a blank stare.
Marent looked back to see who was coming with him, and only saw Patrick beginning to follow him through the hallways of the bottom floor and up the network of tunnels that lead to the mess hall. As soon as they had left, O'Hinal turned to Frojkal, and said, a cunning smile creeping across his face,
"It's time to tell you all about my little secret, Frojkal. But we gotta do it quick, before he returns. Or else it's all for naught..."
This caused Frojkal to look up at O'Hinal. His eyes were like two brown mirrors; they just reflected O'Hinal's face back at him.
"Whatever that means. I'm not familiar with the enigma style of speaking. Before I tell you, you gotta promise that you'll never tell until the moment is right. You spoil it, we're both dead." O'Hinal suddenly rushed up at Frojkal, and Frojkal looked down to notice a pale green knife at his throat.
"I swear, O'Hinal..." Frojkal's voice shook as he agreed.
