Levantris took a relaxed breath and began to speak like he was a very tired and bored teenager, his speech slurring together at times, but still relatively easy to understand.
"Hmm*h. Well, Jipalar is in two days. It'll take us an estimate of four days to reach the warehouse, and at least five days to get back to the hideout, as we might have some idiots on our trail and the loot will slow us down. But it'll be worth it."
"Ok... but I don't get this, Levantris. I'm very new, so why are you putting me on an expert's mission? It's really not logical, or smart... and as much as I hate to admit it, you look pretty smart." Sonia rolled her eyes as she finished her last sentence.
"Well, do thieves always need a reason for the things that they do? Part of being a thief is keeping secrets from people. And this is a secret. But, to calm any of your fears, which I'm sure you have, I promise that you will not die..." The tones of his voice were the foreboding low tones of a haunted organ. Or maybe that was just in Sonia'* head...
"Um, ok. I-I guess I'm fine about it. Didn't you say that you wanted to say something else that wasn't related to Jipalar?"
Sonia was calm, but it was as if, without her noticing, Levantris had suddenly become darker and more dangerous. Of course, he was a thief! But he was the person who spared her life; still, she wasn't sure whether to place her full trust in him, since the way his eyes looked at her and watched her cautiously, and the way his voice seemed to belong to the orphaned creature that considers the seven-story organ in the rundown, cursed house at the edge of reality home just... scared her. Or was this all a trick of the mind, and was she just imagining all of this?
"I will, in just a minute. Jipalar is a very special place, and I have a special job for you that is essential." His voice seemed to lift out of the darkness on the last word, but it shirked as if it didn't want to become light, become... human.
