She smiled as I said this. "I know that too. I've been waiting for you for a while now. Tuoni often comes down here to inform me how much of a scumbag I am. He also often lets slip how his plans are coming along. You're the one who sliced him aren't you? Boy oh boy, he ain't happy 'bout that!"
"Why did he not kill you? He told your father that he had."
"To upset my dad, stupid. That, and I kinda think he likes having me around. Dunno why, I only ever really told him to rot in hell and spat at him occasionally."
I nodded and made my way back to the entrance to the cells. "Don't suppose you know where Tuoni is do you?" I asked, looking back over my shoulder.
Ikuna nodded and caught up with me. "Top floor probably. All the way up these stairs, that's the top floor. From there he could be anywhere. Probably his chambers though. He'll also know your here, so you'll have to be careful."
"I always am."
"Could've fooled me, big man; you're dripping blood everywhere."
"Don't worry about that," I sighed, as I began to traverse the daunting steps.
"Once we get to the top I'll make you a bandage or something."
"That will be very kind of you."
We finally reached the top floor, after making a short stop in the training room. Ikuna had armed herself with a rune short sword and a full set of red dragon hide armour, as well as a rune kite shield. I was willing to bet that she was a natural fighter, much like her father.
I stopped to catch my breath as Ikuna ran towards an intricate tapestry hung against a wall. She jumped up, and grabbed onto it with both hands. For a few seconds she clung on, dangling above the floor. The tapestry fell down, and Ikuna quickly got to work. She ran her sword along the material, cutting a small strip from it.
She then approached me with the strip in hand. "You'll need to get that armour out of the way."
I lifted the chain mail above my head as Ikuna applied the strip to my injury.
"Not ideal, but better than nothing."

I then heard a voice speak from my pocket, it was Lydia.
"Hey, you there?"
"What the heck is that?" Ikuna asked.
I pulled the orb from my pocket and looked at Lydia. "Hi," I managed.
"Hi, I see you've found Ikuna, good going. I'm just letting you know how Rose is. She's finally come round, but the nurses want us to leave her alone."
"Okay, that's good news. I've got some news of the bad kind though."
"Oh, what's wrong?"
"I've lost my runes, I'm gonna have to sail back."
"That will take weeks!" Lydia exclaimed.
"I know. Listen, I'm gonna go and finish this off, give the orb back to Josh. I need him to keep hold of it for the remote detonation."
"Fine. Hey Ikuna, do you want to speak to your father?"
Ikun*'* face lit up, then turned thoughtful. "No," she said, surprisingly.
I looked at her, and she gazed back.
"I'd rather save the reunion for when we meet in person. He'll understand."
"So be it," I replied, nodding.
I got to my feet and looked around. Another hallway, though this one was immense. A large ornate doorway crowned a set of steps that Gods would feel humble when climbing in the centre.
"His chamber is up there. Wanna go check?"
"I want you to go back downstairs, and outside. If I die, it's up to you to finish this place off. I have placed explosives onto the two spires. Take this orb, tap it, and ask a guy named Josh to detonate them. If you're lucky you won't get killed in the blast. Use one of the boats to sail home. Go, now, hopefully I'll see you soon."
I**na took the orb and looked at me in disbelief. Her dark eyes met mine, and I knew she understood.
"See you soon," she said as she turned away.

I made my way to the stairs with my mind running with thoughts.
The Protagonist.
Attempts on my life.
Undead battles.
An unbalanced world.
Hundreds dead.
Lives destroyed.
Families ripped apart.
Towns wrecked.
Thousands of years of plotting.
Listeners.
Gods, faith, religion and what was left of all three of those things.
Jonathon.
Narayan.
All of the juves that had been slain in Tuoni's name.
Ikuna.
Yamabushi.
Justin.
Lydia.
Kzahaar.
Reanna.
Josh.
And Rose.
I reached the doors and opened them, and Tuoni was there.

He stood in a room around the same size as the one I had just left. It was circular, with windows lining the wall. There was no furniture. I calmly closed the door behind me.
"So you've finally arrived," he said sullenly.
I slowly pulled my sword loose from it's sheath. "Yeah, I'm here."
"Do you remember when we first met? Seems like a long time ago now."
"I remember it well Tuoni. You had the upper hand then."
"Funny how things change. From all that has happened, to this." Tuoni removed his top, revealing his chest, as well as his face. This was the first time I had seen his entire face, it was normally obscured by his hood. He had long white hair. His eyes were most disturbing. I had seen them before, and they still seemed to hold an image of hell itself. Upon his chest lay a scabby wound from when I hit him previously.
"It's time to finish this Tuoni. Your part in this story is over."
"When we first met, I had an offer for you. Do you remember that?"

"Yes," I said impatiently.
"Well, would you like to hear what I would of offered you?"
"Not particularly, no."
"Well, I'll tell you anyway. Before I kill you, I'd like you to know what you could of had. Your part in all of this is not random. You were chosen from the very beginning."
"Don't talk such rot," I sneered.
"Oh, it's true. You were chosen by me. Someone who could kill Elvarg and find the Lost City of Zanaris would not escape my attention. Only a few people have this power, and you're one of them. You have the same power as the ancients, you might say. Your little friend Rose was also chosen, but not by me. It seems that her part in this tale was determined by The Listeners, though I didn't know about that until recently. Those traitorous pigs, I'll finish them off when I'm done with you. Anyway, back to you. The offer I was going to make to you was simple, join me. We could of ruled this world with an iron fist. But your stupid human emotions got in the way, and now you all will suffer for it."
"I've heard enough. Your arrogance is second only to your ineptitude Tuoni. You have tried and failed to kill us, and now it's your turn to visit the afterlife. I'll make sure of it. Prepare yourself!"
I ran at Tuoni as he adopted a defensive stance. He neatly dodged my strike and stepped back without counter attacking. I swung again, and once more he dodged the blow.
"You're worthless, just like the rest of your race. Prepare for death."
Tuoni outstretched both of his palms as his fists started to glow. I sprinted in as my chest exploded with pain. It was too late however, Tuoni unleashed the spell. A wave of fire smashed into me, and I was flung backwards. I landed on my back and my head cracked against the marble floor. I gripped the back of my head and felt blood flowing. I looked at my chest, for the most part protected by my armour. Any parts that the armour didn't cover however were horribly burnt.

I looked up to see Tuoni standing above me, with his fists still glowing. He held his palm out towards me.
"You're pathetic," he said, as he blasted me into oblivion.

Darkness enveloped me. All around was blackness. Deep, dark, infinite.
A voice boomed out.
"He's right, you are pathetic, you should have killed him." This voice had an animalistic tone to it, and sounded very rough, not to mention evil.
"Leave him be. We shall grant him another chance. Mortal, don't mess up this time, we will imbue you with powers, but they are finite. Use them well." This voice was not unlike the first, rough yet softly spoken.
"The destruction of any being is usually looked down upon by me, but in this case, I must agree with you, brothers." This voice was much calmer than the other two, serene, almost...heavenly.
A brilliant light suddenly shone out from above me. I tried to fathom what the source was, but I had to close my eyes. It was simply too bright.
I felt a tingling sensation in my chest. I opened my eyes to see the Dragon Chain mail I had died in was now there, buckled to my chest. The black crest seemed to be moving! My chest suddenly felt tight, and I knew that the chain mail was now part of my being.
The same sensation happened to my legs. The Dragon metal became one with my mind, body and soul, much like it does for a split second when a special attack is instigated.
My Dragon Longsword flew into my right hand. My skin welcomed the blade as it also became an extension of my body.
The skin on my arm had hardened, almost as hard as Dragon scales. Dark red bone-like shards then pierced from underneath, protruding outwards. There was no pain however, it felt perfectly natural.
I felt my back also go through a transformation. Blood red spikes protruded from my shoulders. Somehow I knew what was happening. The materials that make Dragon weapons and armour had become one with my body.

My body had to change to accommodate these new powers, it seemed the spikes were a side effect of that.
"It is done," the second voice spoke out, and once again darkness enveloped me.
"Send him back," the evil voice shouted, and I awoke in Tuoni's chamber with a new strength. A new mind, a new lease on battle and life. I sprang to my feet. Tuoni wasn't here. But I knew where he was. Outside. Near I**na. Too near. Curse him.
I turned my attention to the wall and obliterated it with a fire attack. I could now call forth the strength of dragon's fire at will. I leapt out of the newly made hole in the wall, down towards the courtyard. The ground hurtled towards me. This would normally have been a concern, but I simply landed on my feet with a thud. Tuoni was on the beach, down the mountain, chasing after Ikuna.
I sprinted through the outer wall and towards the stone stairway that I had navigated earlier, and leapt outwards. Over the steps I flew, hundreds of feet through the air. Once again the ground threatened to break my fall, but as I landed I simply jumped again. Over rocks and trees, caves and streams, my descent was rapid.
I finally reached the jungles that surrounded the mountain and I ripped through them, finding a use for the shards that protruded from my arms and elbows. They effortlessly torn through the shrubbery and bark as I dashed through.
I made it to the beach to see Tuoni holding up Ikuna by her neck. She was struggling in his grasp, desperate for air. I sprinted towards him, readying the sword which had now melded with my hand.
Tuoni noticed me approaching and dropped Ikuna. He quickly stepped back with a panicked look in his eyes.
"What the...I left you for dead! What has happened?"

I swung my blade and Tuoni dodged to my left. I ripped my left arm towards him and caught Tuoni with one of the spikes. It tore across his shoulder and he yelled in pain. He stepped back and lifted his palm towards me. I stood and awaited his next move.
A torrent of fire hurtled towards me, and enveloped my body. I stood and absorbed it's warmth before unleashing my own flame attack. Tuoni waved his hand and dissipated my attack.
"Curse you! How have you gained this power?" He asked angrily.
"The Listeners decided to help me. Prepare to die, Tuoni."
A look of confusion glanced across Tuoni's face. "They don't have powers like that! They couldn't have done it!"
I rushed at Tuoni again and swung my sword. Once again he stepped aside, this time counterattacking with a water based spell. The water crashed into my chest. Pain. I had felt pain! The Listeners had said that my powers were finite, I had to end this quickly.
Tuoni once again fired off a spell, noting my pain. I leant out the way preparing a counterattack. I charged in, this time favouring a straight right hook. I expected Tuoni to dodge, and he did. I swung my blade and allowed a special attack to be summoned.
The sound that echoed throughout the island was unlike any I had heard before. When I summoned the special attack, the strength of dragons came with it. A roar thundered forward as the blade flew through the air.
It ripped into Tuoni's side and cut across his chest. I pulled the blade out and followed the momentum through, allowing a special attack to come forward again. The sword smashed into Tuoni's leg, and it was severed. Tuoni fell to the floor, gasping for air.
"Wait, don't kill me! If you do you're no better than me! Don't d..."
Tuoni's head rolled away from his body. I looked down at his face. Terror. I booted the head into the sea and fell to my knees. Ikuna was around twenty feet away from me. She looked like she'd seen a ghost.

"*****,w,what happened to you?" she asked.
I looked at my hands. One was melded to my sword. The other, a grotesque mutation.
I felt a rush of blood to my head, and I blacked out.

Once again, darkness surrounded me.
"You've done it adventurer. Congratulations. Your world is finally safe."
"I guess I have you to thank for that," I replied.
"Your transformation was not our doing."
"Then, who?"
"We shall transport you safely back to whence you came. There is something you should know about Rose. We picked her ourselves to find you. Rose and her brother played an integral part in all of this. Regrettably Jonathon fell, but his sacrifice will always be remembered."
"What are you saying?" I asked, confused. The blackness around me was less intimidating this time.
"We must go now, Evander. Know this, we are in your debt. Although the effects of the transformation were not instigated by us, we can reverse them. When you awake, you will be back to normal. Look after your friends, especially Rose."
"So be it. Fare well."
I awoke three days later with Rose at my side. She looked terrible, as if she hadn't slept in days.
When she noticed that I was awake, she said nothing. We simply held each other for a long time.
I had been transported along with Ikuna back to the mainland. Josh had taken the liberty of destroying Tuoni's castle, rightly placing it into history as a relic of the past.
Ikuna was reunited with Yamabushi, at long last.
And, finally, the world was safe.
The events I describe to you, dear reader, happened three years ago. Runescape is still a prosperous place to be, happy and vibrant.

I have married Rose. The ceremony was nothing less than extraordinary, with people from across the land joining us in the celebration. Rose was now pregnant with our second child. Our son, Jonathon, takes after his mother more than I. Not that I mind.
Kzahaar and Lydia have both gone off together to have their own adventures. We occasionally receive letters from them. They are both happy, and doing very well.
Justin and Reanna have opened up their own shop, which caters exclusively for cats. Cat food, cat toys, cat magazines, you name it they sell it. To cats.
I believe the name is 'Paws for Thought,' or something.
Yamabushi and Ikuna enjoyed their time together after being apart for so long. They decided to travel back to their home land. They have since returned and opened up a college of Defensive Arts. They taught adventurers from around the globe in the arts of fighting.
Josh had been promoted within the Temple Knights. He was now second only to a guy who spent all his time sitting in Falador Park, watching the occasional adventurer dig up treasure or plant a tree.
Myself? Well, after my return I bought a house, and spent an absolute fortune making it presentable. I know live here with Rose. It's a nice quiet life, which id simply fine with me.
I have the occasional goblin to scare off, or maybe a giant spider to kill, and that's all the combat I need.
My adventures have spanned for long enough, it is time to pass the torch. Time for someone else to tell their story.
I thank you for taking the time to read My Chronicles, dear reader. I trust they were as entertaining to you as they were for me to live through.
God speed to you, and goodbye.

SYNOPSIS

Want to know where I get my inspiration from? How about the names? Read on, and I shall enlighten you!

Obviously the first two stories are based on Runescape quests, so thanks to Jagex for the inspiration. I developed the story myself from there.

Characters

Tuoni - Mythology. He is the Finnish God of Death.
Evander - This means 'Good man' in Roman.
Remus - Roman, he and his brother Romulus founded Rome or something.
Kzahaar Firesoul - This was a bio given to me from Demon Kza. Don't know where he is now, hope you're all right mate.
Justin & Lydia - Bios, given to me from Hiamon0. I based Justin on Teshu, a bald character from the Tenchu series. I just based Lydia on my mate, she likes archery, lol.
Josh - A bio from Jband. Cheers buddy!
Reanna - A bio given to me from Ms Smeeze. Thanks chick!
Sigurd Kreegal - A bio from Strides - told ya I'd get him in there somewhere buddy!
Kariov & Boris - I got these from Kariov. He annoyed me a while back, but I'll let it go. thanks for the bios Kariov.
Narayan - I got his name from a song by the Prodigy.
Jonathon & Rose - Just made them up. Though Rose's appearance is based on an x girlfriend.
Yamabushi & Ikuna - Just some Japanese names I've picked up along the way.
Veritus Vos Liberit - Latin, it means 'The Truth Will Set You Free' - clever huh?
Rose's teleportation chant - It was latin, it meant 'With yet stronger reason, From sea to sea, From words to blows, From start to finish, To the stars through difficulty.' You like that?

The songs that the Pirates sing during the fight was an actual Pirate song. I added Catherby to it, it should be Shanghai, lol.

Okay, that's all I can think of now. Let me know if there are any aspects of my story you'd like explained, and I'll do so.
