Vampires
Vampires appear almost identical to their own species, save for perhaps a bit of paleness that might be due to their natural avoidance of the sun, as well as a pair of retractable canines. As you might expect, vampires need to feed on blood to survive. Feeding on animals is entirely sustainable, but blood of the same species tastes much sweeter (with variances in flavour depending on factors like genetics, ancestry, and diet), and carries a narcotic effect.
Vampires have superhuman speed and strength, with recently-fed vampires being capable of ripping doors off their hinges or sprinting at 60km/hour if their adrenaline is up. When exposed to the sunlight, these abilities fade, and they are reduced to a level of strength and speed on par with an ordinary human.
Vampires also possess regenerative abilities, capable of regenerating nearly any wound short of a missing limb or a blow to the heart (more on that later.) Missing limbs will not regrow, and instead must be reattached; the vampire will not be able to control the lost limb until it is. Thus, a vampire who loses their head will lose control of their entire body.
A vampire's healing properties seem to be linked to their bodily fluids. Contact with their blood or saliva will heal most minor wounds, and sterilize any infection.
Vampires are also weak to holy water, though it must be blessed by a truly devout religious official - luckily there is one in Argentvale. It is like acid to them, burning their skin, sapping their strength (though not as much as sunlight), and delaying their regeneration. Symbols from mainstream religions will also disorient them or induce migraines if they come too close.
Now, how to actually kill a vampire? Simple. Pierce their heart with an organic material - either wood or bone works best. Doing so will instantly turn them to ash.
How to become a vampire? Be bitten by one, and then consume human blood within 12 hours.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
