The Docks
The conversation was interrupted by someone with a bullhorn. "Attention students! Departure is in only a few minutes! Please begin boarding your designated ferries in a calm and orderly fashion!"
And so it began, with students filing into the ferries one by one, stopping only at the boarding ramp to show their student cards to the security. After verifying that they did in fact look like their picture, they were allowed onboard. Of course, the process was inevitably delayed somewhat by an unlucky few who didn't have their student card, or tried to get on the wrong boat, and spent far too much time begging or making excuses before finally taking the hint and turning back.
Luckily for everyone amidst the small group of eccentric college girls, despite not being first years, they had all somehow received passes that allowed them to board the first batch of ferries. Perhaps there weren't enough first years to fill them all, or perhaps it was an administration error, or perhaps they had influential parents who had somehow pulled some strings. Either way, the system worked out in their favour.
But not in the favour of a certain gasmask wearing girl, who would not be allowed onboard until she actually took off the mask and verified her identity. If she refused to do so, she would be left behind.
Then the twenty-minute voyage began.
----
The ferries arrived at the school with little fanfare, and the curious first years began to disembark, moving at a frustrating pace as they stopped or slowed down to take in the sights. Already guides were waiting to point them in the right direction.
From here the process would be rather straightforward. Find their dorm rooms, get settled in, buy their textbooks, and maybe attend the opening ceremony at the stadium that was to be held later that day.
Curiously enough, all four girls had the same dorm: Building 1, Floor 3, Room 13.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
