Vorlon wanted to leave the creature in Varrock with only one scout hidden away to watch when the Saradominsts met with it. Everyone else was ordered to evacuate to Lumbridge.
Shadow led the Lumbridge Zamorak Supporters quietly back into their city in small groups. The groups were each assigned an area of the city that was familiar with their presence. They were told how to assemble a simple potion out of common household ingredients. Vorlons orders were to to slip the potion to all people within the designated areas. This potion caused the sleeping Lumbridge residents to lose consciousness. When all of the sector leaders gave the all clear to Shadow, the Zamorak Cult moved South into Lumbridge.
When the cult members began to leave, the fire creature tried to follow them. Lightning tried to create magical barriers to keep it in place, but it seemed unaffected. It would not allow itself to be separated from Learth.
“You should take the scout*s place, Learth,” ordered Lightning. She quietly assumed the scout** position inside one of the magical piles of illusion rubble. She was tired, and not ready to stand guard, but reluctantly obeyed.
When the throng of the Zamorakians entered Lumbridge, they quietly overtook the few remaining guards and sentries. Then they relocated the unconscious citizens to the castle to be locked up.
Roxie, the queen of the Zamorak Cult, turned toward her king. “Vorlon,” She addressed, *You have executed some very risky plans in the past few days. Our soldiers are tired, but once again, we have achieved our objective. I feel that some even greater trial is yet to come. Perhaps you have felt it, too.”
Vorlon looked weary as he took the hand of his queen. “Finally, we are accomplishing something… after all these years. Misthalin is plunged into chaos. We have set this into motion. The world will be Zamorak’s.”

“You have worked your followers to their limits. They need a rest now. I know the situation we are in is difficult to deal with, but you have made a good decision to bring them here tonight.”
“I hope so,” he said.
“We cannot conquer cities on the run forever,” said the queen. “We need a home.”
The Zamorakian warriors, besides the unlucky few designated to supervise the Lumbridge League’s guard duty, were then given a few hours of much needed rest.

Learth’s eyes were heavy as Saradomin’s army approached Varrock. The creature blazed brightly, turning its attention away from Learth and towards the white knights. They were taken aback by the scene of wreckage. There was no army to meet them, only this strange, flaming beast stood in their way.
“Men,” Saradomin addressed his legion, “It seems that the enemy has fled. Something strange has happened here. I feel an overpowering sense of magical energy. Something very powerful was here… and is here still. Search the wreckage,” He ordered.
The creature blocked their path into the city.
“Destroy it,” said Saradomin.
The knights slashed their swords and lunged and stabbed at the creature, but it was like trying to slash open a flame. No damage was done. Saradomin’s light protected the knights from the flames.
“Never mind it, search the city. Something else is here. Find it,” Saradomin ordered.
Bweer thought it very strange that Saradomin was having them search a destroyed city. Clearly, it was leveled to the ground. There were only piles of ash and debris remaining where Varrock had once been. As the knights searched, Bweer walked over to where the Blue Moon Inn once stood. He kicked some of the ash with his white metal boot. A flood of memories rushed through him. He was the only one left. The last of the boys. Ralex was gone, and something inside him was telling him that Maximus was gone, too. He had seen the embers coming from Taverley when it burned down. Since none came to Falador for refuge, the druids were missing and presumed dead.
He began tracing In the ash with his foot, “R.I.P. Varrock Boys.”
“Are you ok, Bweer?” one of the other knights asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.

“Ah, what’s the point of even thinking about it!” He shouted, kicking the ash up all around him. He covered his mouth so the ash wouldn’t make him cough… but none landed on him. None had been smeared on his boots. He picked up a handful of ash, and smeared it onto his platebody… Nothing. No trace of it.
“Get the commander,” Bweer said to the other knight.
“What is it, Bweer?” the commander asked.
“This ash is … behaving strangely. It’s not getting anything dirty, it isn’t getting into my lungs like normal ash would.”
The commander knelt down to examine the ash. “You’re right!” he exclaimed. “This isn’t ash at all. It’s an illusion! Get a mage here, right away.”
Learth began to panic. The original scout was given a teleport tablet in case of an emergency. Where was it? She forgot to ask him for it when she took his place!
