Bob laughed. “Don’t worry about them. They’re just me entourage for now.” He turned around and gave them thumbs up, and they giggled uncontrollably. “More importantly, I’ve discovered a way to harness the taint. I hope that you can put it to good use in your plans.”
Vorlon looked surprised, but relieved. He paused for a moment, and looked in the eyes of his rogue general. “Bob, I know I told you not to work on that project, but your result makes up for your disobedience.”
The Zanaris choir interrupted him, “Why do you all have so many weapons? Why do you resort to violence so often?” they asked. Vorlon glared at them, but continued talking to Bob.
“In these chaotic times, it is often Zamorak’s will that inspires us to do great things when they do not make sense. We will use your discovery, I’m sure.”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t preach to me. I love fighting for Zamorak and all, but you know what I think religion is like… but now for why they’re really here,” Said Bob, looking at the Zanaris Choir.
He opened the waxwood box and splashed the goop all over them. At first they were confused, “What’s this? Is it yoghurt? Why have you sprinkled your yoghurt upon us?” Then they began to deteriorate. The Zamorakians watched in awe.
“Who knew—their bones are actually blue,” Said Bob as he looked on. Then even their bones disappeared. Bob scooped the leechgoop, which was now a cotton-candy color, back into the waxwood box with the lid.
“Bob,” said Vorlon, “I have a plan.”

The Taverley people huddled together, shivering in the cold. A figure approached them slowly, smoking, with glowing green eyes. It was the body of Maximus, but Maximus was no longer present within it.
“Druids, knights, citizens,” Said the smoking body in a deep, powerful voice, “I am Guthix, the lord of this world. I have come among you in fire to show you my power, so that you may follow my commands without question, and be assured of your success. I have destroyed your city, but we will rebuild it and it will be forever more glorious. For now, you are my soldiers. You have no home but the earth.”
The young men looked with wonder at the smoking form. A few of the void knights shouted “Hail Guthix!” and their shouts were joined by those of some more eager druids.
The body smiled. “It gladdens me to see that my people do my will, even in the face of events that you do not fully understand. But now, you must prepare yourselves. We are going to attack soon. You have been paying the dwarves for their services to you, but this is no longer necessary. We will now capture them, and they will work for us, doing my will.”
Thaerisk stood up on a rock and shouted to the people, “Do not believe what he is saying! This is not your god, this is a deceiver! Follow me into the earth, and we will awaken Guthix. I can see now that his presence is indeed needed in these times. Maximus is not a visionary, he is nothing but a fraud, but this entity within him is far more dangerous! If you follow him, he will not lead you back to balance; he will lead you to your death!”

There was a murmur among the crowd.
“Guthix, lead us, and we’ll follow!” A man shouted. This was followed by a chorus of cheers, and Thaerisk’s warning was ignored.
“Kaquemeex, will you go with me to summon Guthix?” asked the downcast elder.
Kaquemeex hesitated. “He will destroy the earth. He will see too much chaos in it. He’ll rebuild it… but at this time, I am afraid that it is necessary to sacrifice ourselves to restore balance. I will follow you into the earth.” He looked somber.
“I will assemble our society, those who are still loyal,” said Thaerisk. “We will meet tomorrow to awaken our god.”

Bweer was attending another ceremony. That seemed to be all they had done since Saradomin arrived. He was slowly discovering that he had more faith in Saradomin before he appeared. The god seemed to be acting like a mother hen, keeping his little Faladorian chickens beneath his wings so that no harm could come to them. In truth, Saradomin was afraid. He was afraid because he knew that the crops had stopped growing. He did*’t know how long it would take before his people noticed, too, but he was determined to distract them with anthems of valor and illusions of immortality until he could devise a solution.
In his state of panic, he was not thinking clearly. The knights were growing restless, and some were even beginning to whisper things—things Saradomin was sure he wouldn’t like to hear.

Saradomin thought that perhaps, although the crops had stopped growing, no one had to know it yet. He cast an illusion over the land of Falador to keep the grass looking green and the plants looking healthy. The most important thing at the time was that his people wouldn't worry. He would find a way to take care of their needs in the future, but now, it was time for Falador to take some action.

He was just in time. Bweer, now knighted after one such elaborate war-hero ceremony, was worried about the outside world. He had traveled a little, and though he had never had much time to spend in Lumbridge, he had seen it. He thought there must be a dozen such Lumbridges out there in the big, wide world. Why weren't they taking a stand and defending them, if they were as "Invincible" as they supposedly were?

He announced that they would attack Varrock tomorrow, and drive the Zamorakians back.

This gave Bweer a little hope, but the period of stagnancy sewed the seeds of doubt in his mind. He had met a god, and still was not living happily. Things were not right yet.

Vorlon formed an elite squadron of those tested in battle and vested in chaos. The team consisted of Toad, Pickle, Bob, and Para. Their sole purpose was to kill a god. Bob’s leechgoop was one important part of the equation, but none of them were sure what effect it would have on such a powerful being. When word arrived that Saradomin and falador were going to mount an attack on the morrow, Vorlon decided that the time for planning was up.
Fortunately, he had most of the details already well defined. Almost all of the Zamorakians were engaged in the plans in one way or another. All orders had been given at the same time, and the forces moved out to their positions accordingly.

It had grown dark, nearly the end of day. Lightning, assisted by Dexter and Alexx, led a team of mage drones. They secretly entered a series of hidden tunnels in the Taverley Dungeon that lead close to Falador Park. They knew they could not enter the park, because the barrier extended even under the ground, but entering was not their objective. They were going to get the Falador people to come out to them.
The Zamorakian infantry was gathered in small squadrons, circling the city of Falador in various hiding places,
waiting for a sign.
At the same time, Learth had been sent on what was probably her most daunting mission yet. She was to track down and keep an eye on that creature that had destroyed Taverley, whatever it was. She and Alexx had been at the Witch’s house when it happened, but were keeping an eye on the city while the others followed Maximus and Sylas.

All the others at Taverley that day had been needed in other areas of the effort. General Para was actually put in charge of the effort, but Learth was functionally leading, because she knew where to start. It was a silent trek along a burned trail. They followed it into the Taverley dungeon, but it diverged from the path that Lightning and the others had taken. It led north into another previously uncharted chamber that looked like it was burned out of solid rock.
The sound of footsteps approached—it sounded like a whole army. Learth and Para hid away behind a rock and watched as they marched. They carefully followed them into the chamber unseen. It was very spacious, and went deeper into the ground. A green glow seeped through from a pit at the far end. Something was moving inside.
“We have demanded more supplies and the servatude of the Dwarves for my cause,” Maximus’s body spoke in a deep otherworldy voice. “But they did not surrender to our gentle request. We will now balance the option that they refused with the option of force.”
The misguided Guthix warriors cheered.
“I will call upon my spirit to materialize in power. It will lead us into the dwarven captol and we will capture it. The dwarves will serve us without question as punnishment for their disloyalty and greed, while you will be rewarded by their spoils for your faithful service.”
After he said this, the flame creature rose from the pit, writhing in anger, but it could not disobey its master. It grew hotter, and rose its head, and burned a hole to the surface with its breath. Maximus ascended, and the warriors followed after him. Learth was shocked by what she had just witnessed.
General Para, that’s it, for sure! … But I don’t understand. It destroyed Taverley. Why would it destroy the city if it is working for the Druids’ army?”
Para was looking at the spot where the creature had been. He grunted. “It isn’t.”

“What? What do you mean?” Learth asked, but he was already climbing out of the hole, and she had to hurry to catch up with him.
Vorlon was reluctant to have his elite Generals so spread out before the battle, but he had arranged a signal to summon them all to teleport when the time was right. He thought that the appearance of the creature in Falador needed to be looked into though, and had to send trackers immediately, even though they were also amid an attack.
While Learth and Para were following the Guthix warriors, and the others were in their positions, the Falador Knights were making preparations as well. Although they planned to attack the next morning, they were preparing everything that night, so that they could charge at first light. Bweer and Ralex had finished polishing their functional armor, which they agreed was much more comfortable, and less ridiculous looking than their ceremonial armor. Saradomin had made armor for them at their knighthood ceremony, and they were required to wear it to all special occasions. It consisted of more plumage than helmet, more luster than protection, and more coat of arms than shield. Of course*it was only to be worn within the barrier. Bweer said they’d have a better chance of surviving if they were wearing no armor at all.
The boys were on their way to the Rising Sun—being veterans, they were allowed to drink. Suddenly, they heard a loud, reverberating “clangggggg!” like someone had just hit a giant gong. Then they heard it again, but this time it did*’t stop—and it was many smaller noises, all converging into one horrendous uproar. It was high pitched and terribly unsettling. Bweer and Ralex covered their ears, and ran indoors to escape the sound. It was not as bad inside, and they could stop holding their heads in their hands. Everyone else in the city looked just as surprised as they were.

“What’s going on, what’s making that terrible noise?” some people in the pub were asking. “Nobody knows,” said the barmaid, who looked concerned. “Where’s Saradomin? Maybe he’s doing something that’s making it. Are we testing some kind of a secret weapon?” A few decided to go outside again and look for the source of the noise.
The rest discussed it for a few moments amongst themselves before they heard a rumble deep in the earth.
The Zamorakians had upset the mole with their noises. They had purposefully disturbed the ground in that area from the Northern direction so that they could drive the mole on a rampage South. The mole and its children were frightened by the noise, and they did exactly as predicted. The giant mole smashed streight into the Eastern side of the castle, and took out a few of its walls.
It shrieked a frightful, billowing chirp as the white stone fell against its head, and became even more enraged. The citizens ran from the castle, and the knights in command hastily tried to order an evacuation. "Bweer, Ralex, come quick! That shaking is the mole!" Shouted their commander. "We need you to help gather citizens."
Coraling the women and children, the knights led them out of the city the fastest way possible that would evade the wrath of the mole. Bweer felt like something was wrong with this whole situation. The mole was never aggressive before, and the sounds he had heard prior to the stampede did not sound like sounds the mole had made.
The plan, made hastily by Sir Amik to deal with this chrisis, was to evacuate to Rimmington until Saradomin or the knights could secure or subdue the mole. Even Saradomin was caught off his guard by this incident. He was asleep in one of the lavish upper rooms of the palace, resting for the fight planned for the following day.

“Out, out, out!” Shouted Bweer as he motioned the crowd with his arm. “Stay quiet, you need to listen to our directions.” They were confused and worried, and of course, they could not stay quiet.
“Come on, move it! Make room for the others.” Another Knight said. “Saradomin’s on his way to deal with the problem. You’ll be back to your houses in no time. Just stay calm and walk.”

Learth and Para had followed the soldiers into the dwarven mines, and just as the battle there was about to begin, Vorlon summoned his Generals to him south of Falador. Para disappeared in a spiral teleport cloud, and Learth was alone in the mine, watching the beginning of the dwarf slaughter. They weren’t ready to defend themselves--they did*’t think they would need to defend themselves. It was a simple matter of smashing through the dwarves’ peripheral forces--a few guards and sentries--and then they could storm the capital.

On the other front to the South, the Zamorakians emerged from their hiding places, cutting the crowd of refugees off from the city. “Remember,” Commanded Vorlon, “This time, we capture. We need them alive to lure him out. Kill only in necessity.”
The Zamorakians attacked the Falador crowd, pushing them back toward a hidden underground prison they built by the Rimmington mine. Though they were mostly successful in scaring them into the trap, General Para completely ignored Vorlon’s orders to capture, and killed everyone he had a chance to kill.
Bweer, Ralex, and the other knights who had ushered the people out of the city appeared to be in shock. They quickly realized the gravity of the situation and organized into ranks to protect the citizens. They were fairly ineffectual at actually protecting them, though.
