Why thank you. ^_^

Chapter 5: Departure

After several hours of traveling, Marcello, Sarah, Visdin, Logan, and Arabella stop at Edgeville to rest. The rain would not stop pouring as the River Lum nearby got closer to reaching flood stage. The group rested in an inn right by the General Store. Sarah looked outside through her window, her expression appeared sad through her reflection.

Her brother, Visdin, saw that she seemed upset. He walks over to her and placed his left on her right shoulder. He looked down at her and she looked up at him. "What bothers you, Sarah?" he asked, concerned for her well-being.

She sighed, and looked back out the window. "..Tomorrow..is.." she muttered.

Visdin lets out a sigh as well. "You're right. How could I forget?"

"I can't believe it's been a year."

"Yeah, time flies, right?"

"Yes.." she lets out another sigh. "..I wish I could see him again.."

"Sadly, magic isn't advanced enough to revive the dead." Visdin removes his hand from his sister's shoulder. "But I don't think magic will ever have the ability to do so."

"You're probably right." Sarah stood up from her chair. She turned around, facing Visdin, and took a step away from him. "I'm going to take a walk."

Visdin looks at Sarah seriously. "Be careful." Sarah grabs her cloak and tied it around her neck. She opens the door, walks out it, and closes it behind her. Visdin sighed and walked over to his bed. He sat down on it and grabbed the book that Joshua gave him.

"Salomon has been holding a lot more information in than you can begin to understand." Joshua's word echoed throughout Visdin's head like a loud repetitive sound in the middle of a plain field. He opened the book up, and scrolled his eyes through it's pages. The pages had began to turn yellow as the paper was old. But just reading one sentence caused Visdin's eye to widen.

The black ink popped out of the pages like a 3D film in Visdin's head. After reading twenty pages, the book dropped out of Visdin's hand, he couldn't believe the words he just read, it was like a confession written on paper. He looked to the floor and closed his eye. His face wore a serious expression.

He knew it couldn't be fake, as he's seen Salomon's handwriting, and how the words were written on those pages matched his handwriting perfectly. He stood up tall, grabbed the book from the floor, walked over to door, grabbing his dark tan ragged cape, and placed his hand on the doorknob. But then he thought of another worry, his sister.

He drew breath and sighed, he knew he couldn't just storm off somewhere. So, he hangs his cape back up and laid down on his bed. He closed his eye and attempted to fall asleep, despite the words he read.

Outside, Sarah was walking by herself. The rain that fell from above crashed onto her head, as if the people who died were weeping in sorrow. She looked up into the cloudy late night, as the stars would not shine through. She could hardly see, as she only had a small light to guide her way. When she was right by the River Lum, she knelled down and looked into the water.

She gazed at her reflection in the water, and she saw Janak's reflection sitting right beside. She reached out to his reflection, but when her hand touched the water, his reflection disappeared. A tear fell down her left eye. She quickly wiped away that tear, and sighed. "I miss you." she mumbled. She looks away for a moment, but then looks back down again.

Reflecting from the water was Nyx, sitting beside her. Sarah jumped, and crawled away. Her widened eyes gazed at Nyx.

Nyx had her usual smile, but it was unusually bigger tonight. "Aww..poor, poor little Sarah." Nyx mocked. Nyx stood to her feet and walked closer to Sarah, who continued to crawl away when Nyx would get closer. "Did cute little Janak forsake you? I suppose he didn't really care about you at all, huh." Nyx pretended to give a sad face. "Oh, boohoo, boohoo for poor little Sarah."

"S-shut up! You wouldn't understand! You don't feel emotions, you crazy-!" Sarah shouted back.

"Don't feel emotions? Crazy? Well, I'm deeply offended that you think so." her voice sounded like she could laugh at any moment.

"Get away from me!"

Nyx noticed something about Sarah, she was unarmed. "Wow, you're stupid. You came outside in the middle of the night without a weapon? Haha! That's hilarious!" Nyx drew her dark blade and Master Wand. "You're making this too easy."

"W-what do you mean!?"

"Well, isn't it obvious? I'm the predator, and you're my prey. I'm the murderer, and you're my victim. Try figuring out what I mean. I'm pretty sure it's not too hard to figure out."

"You're going to kill me!?"

"Wow, you're quick to figure." Nyx raised her blade. "Good thing about the rain, only I'll get to hear you scream! Haha!" She swings her blade, and Sarah covers her head with a quick cry. But after a moment, she realizes that she didn't feel blood leaving her body. She looks back and saw Nyx's blade was just inches from her head.

Nyx looks behind herself and saw Joshua pointing his blade at her back. A huge burn wound covered her back as it began to sting from the cold rain hitting it. "Dammit!" yelled Nyx. She disappeared afterwards. Joshua sheathes his sword, placed one of his hands in a pocket, turned his back, and walked away.

Sarah shoot up to her feet. "Wa-wait a minute!" she hollered.

Joshua stopped and looked back at Sarah. "What is it?" he replied.

Sarah walked closer to Joshua. "Thank you."

"You're asking for death by coming out here alone without a weapon."

"I-I know."

"Do you? Clearly you do not."

"I'm sorry."

"I understand this is a difficult time for you. You have my sincerest grief for your loss."

"You have no reason to feel sorry, silly."

"Silly? From my understanding, you called Janak that all the time."

"..."

"Understand this, I am not Janak, and no one shall be. You can find a handful of people who are partly like him, but are not the same." Joshua stops looking at Sarah. "If you don't move on, you'll never truly understand what I just said."

"But I did!"

"Did you? That's why you act so clingy around me, right?" Joshua looks back at Sarah. "Your eyes and personality are different when I'm around compared to when I'm not. You're not depressed when I'm around, and you are when I am not here."

"I'm sorry. It's just..you remind me a lot of Janak.."

"So then you haven't moved on." Joshua looks away again, and began to walk forward. "Let go of him. He wouldn't want you to act the way you are now. If I ever cared for someone, and I died. I would be wanting the same thing."

"But what am I suppose to do!!?" her voice raised.

He stopped. "You need to learn to fend for yourself, to protect yourself. And you need to learn to be selfish, to find your own justice."

"But I hate to harm people."

"And you took the job as an Assassin Hunter? You'll never survive a minute if you can't harm people." Joshua looks back at Sarah. "Remember, people won't always be there to protect you. And if you are stupid enough to leave your sword somewhere else again, you'll end up as the victim."

"How did you get here?"

"I had some business that I needed to finish here. But now I have to go to Al Kharid to finish up important business." he grabs a tele-tab from his back pocket. "Stop being so weak, Sarah. You need to find something that can make you stronger."

"But what?"

"That's your problem." he lifted the tele-tab into the air. "Farewell." he smashed the tele-tab into the ground. He is sucked into the ground and disappears. Sarah looks up at the sky and feels the cooling relief of the rain hit her face. She truly thought of what Joshua said, truly she did.

The morning awoke, and the rain turned into a mix between snow and freezing rain. The whole group was awake, but Visdin was unusually quiet. They were in the main room, checking out of their rooms. Both the Wolfsbane siblings were as silent as the atmosphere outside. Logan and Marcello knew it was the day, and they understood their silence. Arabella looked at the two, concerned.

They took a step outside, and the ground was slightly covered in snow. The icy wind brushed passed them, and the frigid air embraced them. Sarah glanced at Visdin, who seemed like he was upset about something. But in the mix of that sorrow in his eye, there was also hate. She didn't want to ask, she believed everyone had their own fights. They left Edgeville, the small town, and made their way back to the capital.

In the capital of the Kharidian Desert, Al Kharid. A man in a gray business suit was talking to a taller man with a long, dark brown trench coat. He also wore a brown hat and his face was covered by a facemask.

The man in the suit gazed into the crimson red eyes of this man. "So, ya must be Corbin. That famous assassin." the man muttered to Corbin.

"Yes." he silently replied.

"Well, da boss needs ya ta take care of someone 'ere."

"Who?"

"The 'ittle punk known as Joshua."

"How much?"

"As ya may know, I am Leland Waldo. I am a famous businessman in the black market." he whispered softly. "I am willing to pay ya two-hundred-thousand gold pieces. Da boss wants revenge to rain down upon dat boy's head. The Sand Bandits were a major root ta his and my tradin' tree. And now that punk's cut that root, so I might become broker than a middle-class bumpkin."

"As you please."

"That kid should be 'round here. Keep ya blade sheathed for now. Da boss' got some business with that punk."

"Understood." Corbin walked away from Leland afterwards. Leland took off afterwards, and right out into the open. Without Leland knowing, someone jumps from the roof and lands right next to him. Leland panics, he took a few steps back. He finds out that it was Joshua who ambushed him. The snow white haired young man had his blade out, and ready to kill.

Leland fell to his knees. "P-please! D-don't kill me!" he begged and pleaded. "I-I don't wanna die!"

However, Joshua's expression of no mercy or sympathy did not change no matter how much Leland cried for pity. "Your time is up." Joshua mumbled.

Joshua took a step forward, and Leland held his hands out in-front of him. "Y-ya seem like a smart man. S-s-so, I'll give ya one-hundred-thousand gold pieces for my life! Seems fair, right?!" Joshua still did not hesitate, he again took another step. "How about five-hundred-thousand!?"

"Your money has no importance to me."

"P-please!!"

"Say goodbye." Joshua's blade pierced into Leland's chest. Leland felt his life drain out of his body. His blood oozed out from the stab, stained his suit, and dripped to the sand. The golden brown sand became tainted in blood. Joshua took his sword back and Leland's lifeless carcass fell down. Sounds of clapping echoed throughout the desert morning.

Joshua believed his business was not finished, in fact far from it. Joshua looked to his right and saw a man with turquoise hair leaning against the wall on his back.

The man was the one who was clapping. "Good job there, bub." the man complimented.

Joshua cleaned his blade of Leland's blood. "You must be Lakos Del Cogelada." Joshua replied.

"Heard of me, did ya?"

"You are a crimelord in this desert."

"That's right."

"Then you must be expelled from this world. For all the sinful things you have done."

"First of all, buddy. It wasn't me that killed all those people, blame them. I'm just here ta do business."

"You allowed them to commit those crimes. Such immoral deeds must not be allowed to continued."

"Would that be a threat?"

"You will forfeit your life now, it'll make it easier for you."

"Ya think I'm just gonna surrender? Battlin' is just like a gamble, ya see. And I like ta gamble." Lakos drew his daggers. "You need ta die. You've done too much damage to my trade, and you've got to pay the ultimate price for it."

The two charge at each other and begin their fight. Back with the other group, they arrived at Varrock. Sarah was at her house on top of the balcony. The weather was still a mix, snow and cold rain still fell from the sky. Visdin stormed to the kingdom once they returned, and he seemed serious about something.

After about ten minutes, Sarah returned downstairs when Visdin returned. But when she got downstairs to greet him, he was gathering his belongings, among other things. Things such as water, bread, a lantern, money, etc. His facial expression seemed very tense, but his very presence felt incredibly hateful and angry.

Sarah got concerned. Visdin didn't seem to notice that Sarah was there. "Visdin," she asked, her voice was soft, "what are you doing?" Visdin did not reply, not a single word or mumble passed his lips. He seemed to ignore Sarah. This caused Sarah to grow more worried.

After he finished gathering things into a bag, he glanced at Sarah. His eye looked watery, like he was ready to cry. Sarah walked closer to him. "What's the matter, Visdin? Why are you packing up?"

Visdin didn't seem like he wanted to tell. He turned around, facing away from Sarah, and began to walk to the door. Sarah darted right in-front of the door right before Visdin got to it. She leaned her back against the door and sprouted her arms to block the door.

"What is the matter, Visdin?" she repeated, her voice sounded more serious than concerned.

"Move." he muttered.

"Why are you acting this way?"

"Get the hell off my back!!" he yelled back.

Sarah's eyes widened when Visdin raised his voice. She reacted this way because he never raised his voice to her. Never. Not once. She slowly stepped away from the door and cleared Visdin's path. "..I-I'm sorry.."

Visdin seemed to regret raising his voice, and felt grief. He threw the door open, and glances back at Sarah. "I'm going to become an Assassin."

Sarah's eyes began to fill up with water. "But why!?"

Visdin sighed. "I found out something today that I cannot overlook." he stated. "I'm sorry Sarah. But the next time we see each other, we're enemies."

"And you expect me to fight you!?"

"I'm your enemy, you come up with the answer." Visdin got closer to Sarah, and kissed her on the forehead. "I love you, sis. Please understand that this is for the best." he looks back outside. Sarah looked at Visdin as tear fell down her eyes. He looked at her, a tear fell down his eye, but he grew a smile. He walks outside and shuts the door behind him.

Her body felt like it was frozen as it would not budge. After another moment, she was able to move. She opened the door quickly and darted outside. "Visdin!!" she shouted off the top of her lungs. Visdin grabbed a tele-tab from his back pocket and smashed it at the ground. He disappears into the ground.

He was gone. Just like that. Without a single goodbye, he disappeared.
