Heya, I'm Aeraie. I felt the need to post these short stories and poems, as they have nowhere else to go besides a file on Google Docs! Please note that I am a perfectionist at my poetry, and therefore hate every piece I write. I do think that's an important bit to add.

RIDDLE POEMS:
These are some poems I had an idea for. The answers to what they are will be included after I post all riddle poems.
I am what allows you to see
And I am in what you believe.
I can be hot or cold,
And am any color you can think of.
I can be bent, but not broken,
You can see me,
But I can be unnoticed,
Or the center of your attention.
I can kill you even when at the same time
I help make life happen.
I help some bugs mate
And I can be dull or bright.
I am spontaneous or slow
And I can go in all different directions.
I have been invented and discovered
And I am all around you.
Can you guess what I am?

I have a steady rhythm
I exist in songs and movies
And I am always with you.
You never really notice me
Until you watch one too many horror movies
Then, then I shall be your focus point.
Touch me and you’ll squirm
Shush me and you’ll fall
You are at my mercy
Without me you will fade to black
I am the first thing you look for
And I am the last thing you will remember before you die.

I am the contrast that you may or may not wish to seek,
I will dilate your pupils
And I cannot be created or destroyed.
I can be Yin, but not Yang;
I am larger than large
And smaller than small.
I am your childhood terror,
And I can come in many different forms.
To worship me is considered sinful,
For I am suffering and despair.
I am always there when you turn around.
Occasionally, I am considered paranormal,
But in truth, I am ever so natural.
Everyone is cautious of me,
But in truth I cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.

Let’s think outside the box.
I’m as old as dirt,
Silent as the grave,
Cold as ice,
Yet hot as the sun.
I can vanish into thin air,
And withstand the tests of time.
I’m blind as a bat,
Joined at the hip,
And I’m the calm before the storm.
You’ll guess me when the fat lady sings,
But remember: three strikes and you’re out.
I’m too hot to handle,
And I’m only pulling your leg.

Answers to the riddle poems:
Poem 1: Light
Poem 2: Heartbeat
Poem 3: Darkness
Poem 4: Cliches

This poem was written to be read out loud. As such, it may not sound as good to you reading it.

Just breathe.
(Checks watch-note everything in parentheses is an action)
Seven minutes.
Seven minutes until seven hundred eyes
Will feast upon my complexion.
I am
too fat, too sweaty, too hairy.
Too ugly.
(Checks watch)
Six minutes.
I write it all myself.
Is it too dry? Too crude? Too boring?
Will they laugh?
I gulp.
(Checks watch)
Five minutes.
Goosebumps tickle my skin
Terror wells up inside me
Like a broken faucet.
I...
I can’t do this.
(Checks watch, shakes head)
Four minutes.
My thoughts are a quiet scream.
A plea for help.
A plea for courage.
Three minutes and I know it.
I can feel....courage
tingling through my fingertips, in the soles of my feet, and down through my spine.
But what if no one laughs?
(Checks watch)
Two minutes.
Stand up comedy shouldn’t be so hard.
I always thought courage was about letting go
But at this point,
I’m just trying to hold on.
Keep it together.
Just a few jokes, right?
(Checks watch, breathes)
One minute.
My eyes bore into the red velvet curtain like dead eyes
And my skin tingles as a jolt of courage streaks through my body.
I can do this.
As I walk out on stage
My legs feel like cased jelly.
I grip the microphone with one sweaty hand
And wait as my courage comes to a rallying point.
I crack my first joke about ****** Catholics.
They laugh.
I can finish this....
Just breathe.

Graveyard
This is the place where dead ends meet and souls retreat,
This is where the quiet dust settles and the old man mettles;
This is where the windy road ends and a new era begins,
This is where my grandfather rests and the quiet birds nest;
This is where the little birds play and where my hair starts to fray,
This is who I am and how it's done, this is where the wild things run.

Found Poems:
A found poem is a poem that is constructed of one or more sources. You mash them together(you can't go back to get a word, it has to be in chronological order) to create a poem.
This piece is mashing Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here and a report on a member of Pink Floyd, Barret, who overdosed on drugs and was never the same.
one noted reunion
Pink Floyd
1975
You think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
recording sessions Wish You Were Here.
Blue skies from pain.
unannounced,
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
A smile from a veil?
29 year old Barret
Do you think you can tell?
overweight
shaved off all of his hair(including eyebrows)
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Pink Floyd members did not recognize him.
Hot air for a cool breeze?
eventually realised who he was
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
Barret’s behavior erratic
For a lead role in a cage?
part of the session trying to brush his teeth
keeping the brush still and jumping up, down.

We're just two lost souls
“sounds a bit old”
Swimming in a fish bowl
What have we found
walked out
The same old fears.
the last time they would ever see him
Wish you were here.
mental breakdown, just as Barret had.

More found poems! This one is purely from Twilight, written to make Twilight sound as terrible as possible.
Twilight, Die.
Die in the place of someone else.
Someone less erratic, hare-brained.
A real crying jag,
With a glitch in brain,
Circling around like an idiot,
"I'm Isabella Swan,"
boring, a nasal buzzing sound,
stammered, blushed, tripped
You're a hit on self-esteem just by being in the same room,
A chalky pale, purplish bruise-like case of sour grapes,
I want to vomit.
It is just humiliating,
Your sure-to-be-pitiful attempts at vampires,
Speed, strength, "beauty," pale, cold-skinned, immortal...
But glistening? glittering? dazzling?
Pathetic.
"What a stupid lamb."
"What a sick, masochistic lion."

I Wanna Change
I got problems, yeah I got flaws.
So I'ma list them, just because.
I snack too much, I know it's true.
But I can't help it, just gotta chew.
I'd start a diet if I could,
But dang, that choc'late sure is good.
I'm known for my complaints and grumbles,
(Especially when my tummy rumbles)
But all my friends can't stand the whinin',
And now their numbers are declinin'.
If that ain't bad, I got a knack,
For stubbornly arguin', fightin' back.
I just can't help but bicker and feud,
Until crude names are spewed.
So why can't I just hold my tongue?
Learn self-control while I'm still young?
'Cause changin' just ain't easy to do,
But not impossible, that much is true.
