Seth's gaze followed his son and he let out a small sigh. "I apologize for his behavior, Azure. Malaban still has much to learn about leadership. He is fierce and strong, yes, but is lacking in proper compassion or generosity. I believe he will one day be a good Alpha, but there is a lot for me to teach him yet," he woofed softly, his words intended only for the other Alpha to hear. With a small smile he added, "Of course, that is what it means to be a Beta. To learn from your Alpha how to lead."

As an afterthought, Seth called after his son, "Make sure all of Azure's hunters return, Malaban! I don't want any of them lost in the hills!" Turning back to Azure, the weary Alpha smiled again. "I'd best set off to find Jaro now if I want to be back in time for our celebration. If anything urgent is needed, Malaban and my wolves are very capable of assisting you. I shouldn't be gone too long, though, so unless it's an emergency you can wait for my return if you so desire."

Azure nodded in understatement,''I understand uncle. Malaban is young and still needs time to learn. But I am sure he will understand in time what it means to lead. Perhaps while out hunting he might find guidance from our ancestors or something along those lines. By the way, where is Luna? I want to visit with her and my other cousin for a while after my wounds have been tended to.'' said Azure.

''As you wish father.'' Malaban called back, a hint of cynicism in his voice as he walked to meet with the hunters.

''My cousin's hunters will be joining us in the hunt today. Seth wishes for us to make them welcome. All of you know the lands well. You will lead Azure's hunters while I go on my own. I rather work alone than with a weak set of hunters outside my pack. Father wishes for Azure's hunters to return safely so keep an eye on them. As I said I will not be held back so I am going off alone. We shall meet up at the split oak tree when the hunt is over.'' said Malaban as he addressed his hunters before bounding off into the forest towards his favorite hunting spot.

Malaban's favorite spot was right on the border between Seth and Jaro's lands. Malaban did not care if he intruded upon Jaro's territory nor did he care if he got caught. If he did it wouldn't be the first time. In the recent past some of Jaro's wolves had gone missing on patrol and had not returned since. Malaban was always up to something, there were even some things his father didn't even know about.

"You'll find them in the camp. Luna, I imagine, is in that den," Seth said, pointing with his tail to a small den that smelled of milk. The sound of pups could be heard faintly beyond the wall. "We just recently had a litter of pups born, and your aunt quite enjoys helping mothers care for their pups. Mareni was in there last time I saw her, but if she is not longer helping her mother, Luna will probably know where she went," Seth barked, joy lighting up his eyes as he spoke of his family.

((Since I never officially made Jaro's son, I'll give a brief description and make a bio later. I'll do the same for Mareni when she appears.

Jaro's son is Larson, he's average-sized but has broad shoulders, giving him a strong appearance. He looks nothing like his father but is very close to him. He has jet black fur with a snowy white stomach that goes up into his throat, and paws. He has a patch of white fur around his right eye. His eyes are a surprisingly warm ice blue. He is compassionate but courageous, and while he's no smarter than the average wolf, he is generous and has a heart of gold.))

Larson, as he often did, had gone off by himself to do some thinking. He often thought of the future and when he would one day lead the pack, but his favourite topic of mind food was who his future mate would be. He had a romantic's mind, but no she-wolf in his own pack could appease the male. Not that they weren't fantastic friends.

On this day, however, his thoughts were interrupted. Larson detected a strange scent on the light breeze, one that he had smelled several times before. He had never caught the creator of the scent, but had happened across it while on patrol on numerous occasions. This scent seemed fairly fresh, however, and so Jaro's son decided to track it and see who was so freely crossing the territory boundaries.

''Thank you Seth. Is shall give Luna your regards. And Seth......thank you for letting us stay here for the time being. I know times are hard on all the packs but thank you for allowing us to stay. I promise my pack will not be a burden to you.'' said Azure before he limped off to the healers to have his leg tended to.

Larson wasn't the only one to notice a scent. Malaban caught a scent as well. Like Larson, Malaban had smelled it many times before but never saw from where it came. But on this day Malaban didn't really care. He had other things on his mind, like how to get Azure's pack out of his father's territory. Malaban knew Azure was his adopted cousin and thus in a way family; but he hated the thought of having to share territory in a time of drought and famine.

''Why of all times does Azure have to bother us. Him and his pack are weak and need to just die off. But my father insists otherwise, he is weak too. Something needs to be done. Only the strongest of the pack needs to survive and thrive. The weak must perish and I will not stand having a group of weaklings in MY Territory.'' Said Malaban as he spoke to himself in the clearing on the edge of Jaro's territory.

((Halloooooooo! Been forever, yes? I was wondering if I could reuse my old charaters and bring them back? Or nah? Either way, I'll bio characters with the same names and similar builds. That way if their "Original Abilities" are clipped, the personalities can still remain. I do have one request if all else is denied, and that's to keep the link between Nexus and Jumyz. That way they can both remain. If that much is allowed, I'll add a new section of the bio's, linking the two.

If it's a yes, then I'll make an intro bio for them both as well as the profiled ones.))

((I see no problem why they cannot return in full, so it doesn't bother me. But I'll let Nar give his opinion before we make any official decisions.))

Larson's ears perked when he caught a voice coming from just ahead, likely the source of the scent. He was too far away to make out the majority of the speech, but his fur pricked at the tone used to deliver it. The last line, though, Larson caught fully as he approached, and it felt like a smack to the face for the Beta. In his mind, Malaban was a wolf standing upon his territory, threatening his pack. He assumed the weaklings the intruder spoke of were the mountain pack, and a growl rose in his throat.

"You dare stand upon my territory and claim it as your own? You dare threaten my pack, call them weak?" he growled, shoving his way into the clearing with hackles raised. "Who are you, trespasser, to dare make such foolish claims?"

Malaban caught the scent on the air once again but this time closer. As much as Malaban wanted to ignore it, whomever the scent belonged would not grow further away. In the brief time, Malaban though of ways to make the intruder upon his rant leave but, when Larson entered the clearing, it broke his train of thought. Malaban stood to his full height and merely glared down Larson before replying to Larson's words.

''I am Malaban son of Seth. Unless you are of Azure's pack then my grudge is not against you. And I know I am trespassing but I shall be gone momentarily. Now who are you to speak to a Beta of a pack in such a tone pup?'' said Malaban with venom laced words with a hint of pride and arrogance.

-------------------------------------------------------

Azure finally managed to partially limp his way to the healers. His leg had not gotten any better after the tree had fallen on it and the long trip to Seth's home did not help. Although Azure did not show it, pain coursed through his leg with every step. He knew it was not wise to hide his pain but for his own pack who had lost much, he could not show them weakness.

''Hello?'' Azure called into the healer's den. ''I am Azure, Seth's nephew, he said you many be able to help tend to my injuries.''

(( it is fine with me however I would recommend a bit of a tone down of abilities. ))

Larson's fur bristled and he straightened as much as he could to give him height. His broad shoulders enhanced the already threatening profile, and his lips curled back in a snarl. "I was just about to ask you the same question, pup," he growled, spitting the last word. "I am Larson, son of Jaro, Beta and Inheritor of the Mountain Pack. You would do well not to seem so entitled when in the wrong, as well. Even if I were not a Beta, I would speak to you how I wished because you are on my territory. Don't expect any special treatment because of your position."

Hackles raised in full, Larson glared at Malaban with accusation in his eyes. "This isn't the first time I've caught your scent on my territory. You'd do well to remember your place. I am well trusted by my father, and he knows yours very well. I'm sure he'd have no problems telling Seth how much his son loves to trespass. So I suggest you watch where you put your paws, before it becomes a problem. Trust me, I have no aversions to correcting that particular issue."

-----------------------------------------

The healer worked busily on a salve, one good for burns. Without looking up, he waved Azure in with his tail. "Yes, yes, I was told there were injuries. I'm preparing an ointment to help with the burn. Have you cleaned it well yet? If not, get along with that, it'll speed up this process." The healer was not impatient, as it might seem, just living a fast-spaced life.

Malaban laughed malevolently at Larson's challenge. A dark fire burned in Malaban's eyes as he glared down Larson. When a pup Malaban was known for getting into fights with the other pups. Truth be told he enjoyed fighting, almost like it was in his blood.

''The boundaries of our fathers' territory are not exactly clear you know. You call yourselves the mountain pack and yet you own territory in the forest. How is it that a pack claiming to rule a mountain also rules part of a forest hmm? But by all means if you want to settle this territorial dispute right here and now I am more that eager to go along with a fight.'' said Malaban licking his lips at the last statement as he began to circle Larson.

-----------------------------------------------------

''I have already cleaned my wounds to the best of my ability after they occurred. But after travel it does need to be cleaned again.'' said Azure not at all phased by the healer's apparent mood as he sat down and began licking his wounds clean;grimacing with every lick.

While several hours old, the pain from the wounds still lingered on Azure's leg. But bearing with the pain, Azure cleaned the wound and awaited treatment from the healer patiently.

Baring his teeth, the Beta began to circle opposite of Malaban, a classic fighting maneuver and a sign of challenge to most. "I can see the hunger for blood in your eyes. I have no doubts you will be most willing to settle this in bloodshed. Tell me, how does your father not see that monster lurking just behind your masquerade? How does he look at you and trust you to lead his pack, even if you are his son? I would not myself put a wolf like you in charge of a pack, even if it were my son. Then again, I don't expect any son of mine to have such disturbing arrogance and aggressiveness." Larson was trying to provoke Malaban now with words, insulting the Beta and his claim to Alpha once his father passed. What better way to get to a wolf desiring power than by belittling his status?

----------------------

The healer turned, a leaf stem clutching in his teeth. The leaf drooped under the weight of the salve that sat upon it, more than happy to drop onto Azure's burn. Gently the healer rubbed it using the leaf, careful not to touch the injury himself. Satisfied with the application, he examined the leg further, murmuring to himself. His process was interrupted when a dark brown wolf padded into the den. Forest green eyes scanned the enclosed space until landed upon Azure, at which point a smile spread across the wolf's muzzle.

With a short glance, it would be easy to tell this she-wolf was the daughter of Seth. Her pelt's color matched his, right down to the shade, and their eyes were identical. The only difference was a patch of white on Mareni's underbelly that traveled up her throat and into her lower jaw. She was slender, more agile and speedy than strong, and carried no air of a warrior about her.

"Azure! It's so good to see you, cousin. I'd heard that you'd been sent here for treatment. Don't worry, I doubt you'll find a better healer than our MorMor in the land," she barked, smiling affectionately at the healer, who scowled in return.
